Simulation of Salinity Variability and the Related Freshwater Flux Forcing in the Tropical Pacific: An Evaluation Using the beijing normal university Earth System Model(BNU-ESM)

The climatology and interannual variability of sea surface salinity （SSS） and freshwater flux （FWF） in the equatorial Pacific are analyzed and evaluated using simulations from the beijing normal university Earth System Model （BNU-ESM）. The simulated annual climatology and interannual variations of SSS, FWF, mixed layer depth （MLD）, and buoyancy flux agree with those observed in the equatorial Pacific. The relationships among the interannual anomaly fields simulated by BNU-ESM are analyzed to illustrate the climate feedbacks induced by FWF in the tropical Pacific. The largest interannual variations of SSS and FWF are located in the western-central equatorial Pacific. A positive FWF feedback effect on sea surface temperature （SST） in the equatorial Pacific is identified. As a response to El Nino-Southern Oscillation （ENSO）, the interannual variation of FWF induces ocean processes which, in turn, enhance ENSO. During El Nino, a positive FWF anomaly in the western-central Pacific （an indication of increased precipitation rates） acts to enhance a negative salinity anomaly and a negative surface ocean density anomaly, leading to stable stratification in the upper ocean. Hence, the vertical mixing and entrainment of subsurface water into the mixed layer are reduced, and the associated E1 Nino is enhanced. Related to this positive feedback, the simulated FWF bias is clearly reflected in SSS and SST simulations, with a positive FWF perturbation into the ocean corresponding to a low SSS and a small surface ocean density in the western-central equatorial Pacific warm pool.

T cell interactions with microglia in immune-inflammatory processes of ischemic stroke

Insight Into the Separation-of-Variable Methods for the Closed-Form Solutions of Free Vibration of Rectangular Thin Plates

The separation-of-variable(SOV)methods,such as the improved SOV method,the variational SOV method,and the extended SOV method,have been proposed by the present authors and coworkers to obtain the closed-form analytical solutions for free vibration and eigenbuckling of rectangular plates and circular cylindrical *** taking the free vibration of rectangular thin plates as an example,this work presents the theoretical framework of the SOV methods in an instructive way,and the bisection–based solution procedures for a group of nonlinear eigenvalue ***,the explicit equations of nodal lines of the SOV methods are presented,and the relations of nodal line patterns and frequency orders are *** is concluded that the highly accurate SOV methods have the same accuracy for all frequencies,the mode shapes about repeated frequencies can also be precisely captured,and the SOV methods do not have the problem of missing roots as well.

MoS_(2)Lubricate‑Toughened MXene/ANF Composites for Multifunctional Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

The design and fabrication of high toughness electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding composite films with diminished reflection are an imperative task to solve electromagnetic pollution *** MXene/ANF(aramid nanofibers)–MoS_(2)composite films with nacre-like layered structure here are fabricated after the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF composite *** introduction of MoS_(2)fulfills an impressive“kill three birds with one stone”improvement effect:lubrication toughening mechanical performance,reduction in secondary reflection pollution of electromagnetic wave,and improvement in the performance of photothermal *** the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 50:50),the strain to failure and tensile strength increase from 22.1±1.7%and 105.7±6.4 MPa and to 25.8±0.7%and 167.3±9.1 MPa,*** toughness elevates from 13.0±4.1 to 26.3±0.8 MJ m^(−3)(~102.3%)*** the reflection shielding effectiveness(SE_(R))of MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 50:50)decreases~10.8%.EMI shielding effectiveness(EMI SE)elevates to 41.0 dB(8.2–12.4 GHz);After the introduction of MoS_(2)into binary MXene/ANF(mass ratio of 60:40),the strain to failure increases from 18.3±1.9%to 28.1±0.7%(~53.5%),the SE_(R)decreases~22.2%,and the corresponding EMI SE is 43.9 *** MoS_(2)also leads to a more efficient photothermal conversion performance(~45 to~55℃).Additionally,MXene/ANF–MoS_(2)composite films exhibit excellent electric heating performance,quick temperature elevation(15 s),excellent cycle stability(2,2.5,and 3 V),and long-term stability(2520 s).Combining with excellent mechanical performance with high MXene content,electric heating performance,and photothermal conversion performance,EMI shielding ternary MXene/ANF–MoS_(2)composite films could be applied in many industrial *** work broadens how to achieve a balance between mechanical properties and versatility of composites in the case of high-function fillers.

A quantum-search-based multi-classifier for image recognition

The multi-class classification of images is a pivotal challenge within the realm of image processing. As the volume of visual data continues to expand, there is a burgeoning interest in harnessing the unique capabilities of quantum computation to augment the efficiency of classification tasks. However, many existing methods for training quantum image multi-classifiers parallel classical machine learning techniques, where the requisite circuit measurements increase linearly with the volume of training data. This work introduces a novel approach for training a quantum image multi-classifier based on the quantum search algorithm. We have meticulously conducted rigorous experiments on a handwritten digit dataset, a classic benchmark in the field. The results have been meticulously compared with previous works, and the comparative analysis not only validates the efficiency of our proposed approach, requiring only O(N/b) measurements during training, but also highlights a significant quadratic speedup of the algorithm.

Salsolinol as an RNA m~6A methylation inducer mediates dopaminergic neuronal death by regulating YAP1 and autophagy

Salsolinol(1-methyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline,Sal)is a catechol isoquinoline that causes neurotoxicity and shares structural similarity with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine,an environmental toxin that causes Parkinson's ***,the mechanism by which Sal mediates dopaminergic neuronal death remains *** this study,we found that Sal significantly enhanced the global level of N~6-methyladenosine(m~6A)RNA methylation in PC12 cells,mainly by inducing the downregulation of the expression of m~6A demethylases fat mass and obesity-associated protein(FTO)and alk B homolog 5(ALKBH5).RNA sequencing analysis showed that Sal downregulated the Hippo signaling *** m~6A reader YTH domain-containing family protein 2(YTHDF2)promoted the degradation of m~6A-containing Yes-associated protein 1(YAP1)mRNA,which is a downstream key effector in the Hippo signaling ***,downregulation of YAP1 promoted autophagy,indicating that the mutual regulation between YAP1 and autophagy can lead to *** findings reveal the role of Sal on m~6A RNA methylation and suggest that Sal may act as an RNA methylation inducer mediating dopaminergic neuronal death through YAP1 and *** results provide greater insights into the neurotoxic effects of catechol isoquinolines compared with other studies and may be a reference for assessing the involvement of RNA methylation in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.
