We present a case of acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)in a patient with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related decompensated cirrhosis and coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).A 58-year-old woman with HBV-related and decompensated cirrhosis without any anti-viral treatment previously was admitted to the hospital due to a confirmed severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)*** admission,she was in stable *** computed tomography(CT)and laboratory findings showed no significant *** was initiated promptly for HBV,while antiviral therapy and supportive treatment were initiated for *** lung infection exacerbated after 10days of recurrent fever despite treatments,and there were signs of HBV *** and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome developed rapidly from day 10 to day *** patient’s clinical deterioration was also consistent with pneumonia progression and elevated interleukin 6 ***-CoV-2 likely precipitated ACLF in cirrhotic patients,either by inducing HBV flare or serving as an acute insult *** study discussed the underlying mechanisms of this process and management *** HBV status is necessary,and inflammatory parameters might be *** suppression should be initiated early,and variceal hemorrhage primary prevention might be beneficial in COVID-19 patients with cirrhosis.

In this paper,we discussed the ecology and economy of mangrove ecosystems in southeastern China where mangroves have been coexisting with people for several thousand *** occur naturally in southeastern China,mainly in Hainan,Guangxi, Guangdong,Hong Kong,and *** are 36 species of mangrove species in China,acconnting for 43% of the total number of species found in the *** China,mangroves are often used by local people as wood,food,medicine and aquaculture farms,in addition to their functions in protecting coastal lines,proving feeding grounds for many marine organisms and serving as natural filters for landward *** last few decades,the population boom and rapid economic development have greatly reduced mangrove areas. Research during last 30 years have not only improved our understanding of mangrove ecology but also educated publics and governmental officers about the importance of mangrove ecosystems. Since 1980s,great efforts have been made in China to protect mangrove forests and their ecological *** has already established mangrove ecosystems as high priority areas for improved environmental and living resource ***'s Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan issued in 1995 included its“Action Plan for Marine Biodiversity Protection in China”and called for increasing the area for mangrove conservation.“Marine Environmental Protection Law”promulgated in 1982 and revised in 1999 has granted mangrove protection of highest *** far,total of 11 natural mangrove conservation areas have been established,which occupy more than 20000 ha coastal *** recent years,replanting of mangroves by government authorities has taken place in areas where natural mangroves were destroyed but introducing fast-growing species from other countries may cause other ecological consequences. Multi-disciplinary research and more systematic protection strategies are urgently needed.

Drug delivery via intra-articular(IA)injection has proved to be effective in osteoarthritis(OA)therapy,limited by the drug efficiency and short retention time of the drug delivery systems(DDSs).Herein,a series of modified cross-linked dextran(Sephadex,S0)was fabricated by respectively grafting with linear alkyl chains,branched alkyl chains or aromatic chain,and acted as DDSs after ibuprofen(Ibu)loading for OA *** DDSs expressed sustained drug release,excellent anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective effects both in IL-1βinduced chondrocytes and OA ***,the introduction of a longer hydrophobic chain,particularly an aromatic chain,distinctly improved the hydrophobicity of S0,increased Ibu loading efficiency,and further led to significantly improving OA therapeutic ***,hydrophobic microspheres with greatly improved drug loading ratio and prolonged degradation rates show great potential to act as DDSs for OA therapy.

Formation of Well-Mixed Warm Water Column in Central Bohai Sea During Summer: Role of High-Frequency Atmospheric Forcing

The influence of high-frequency atmospheric forcing on the formation of a well-mixed summer warm water column in the central Bohai Sea is investigated comparing model simulations driven by daily surface forcing and those using monthly forcing data. In the absence of high-frequency atmospheric forcing, numerical simulations have repeatedly failed to reproduce this vertically uniform column of warm water measured over the past 35 years. However, high-frequency surface forcing is found to strongly influence the structure and distribution of the well-mixed warm water column, and simulations are in good agreement with observations. Results show that high frequency forcing enhances vertical mixing over the central bank, intensifies downward heat transport, and homogenizes the water column to form the Bohai central warm column. Evidence presented shows that high frequency forcing plays a dominant role in the formation of the well-mixed warm water column in summer, even without the effects of tidal and surface wave mixing. The present study thus provides a practical and rational way of further improving the performance of oceanic simulations in the Bohai Sea and can be used to adjust parameterization schemes of ocean models.

Social network is the mainstream medium of current information dissemination,and it is particularly important to accurately predict its propagation *** this paper,we introduce a social network propagation model integrating multiple linear regression and infectious disease ***,we proposed the features that affect social network communication from three ***,we predicted the node influence via multiple linear ***,we used the node influence as the state transition of the infectious disease model to predict the trend of information dissemination in social *** experimental results on a real social network dataset showed that the prediction results of the model are consistent with the actual information dissemination trends.

Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains *** A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of *** Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two *** Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.
