Complete mitochondrial genomes(mitogenomes)can provide useful information for phylogenetic relationships,gene rearrangement,and molecular ***,the complete mitogenome of Episesarma lafondii(Brachyura:Grapsoidea:Sesarmidae)was sequenced through next-generation sequencing technique for the first *** 15640 bp mitogenome contains the entire set of 37 genes and an AT-rich *** rearrangements of two tRNA genes(tRNA-His and tRNA-Gln)are compared with that in the pancrustacean ground pattern,and the tandem duplication/random loss model was selected to explain the observed gene *** phylogenetic results showed that all sesarmid crabs belong to the same group,wherein the genus Episesarma showed the closest relationship with ***,the monophyly of each family was well supported except for Xanthidae,Gecarcinidae,and *** correlation between the phylogeny of Sesarmidae species and the gaps in the QIM region was ***,the gaps between Q and I(Gap3 and between I and M(Gap4)degenerated with the evolution *** general,the results will contribute to the in-depth understanding of gene rearrangements in Sesarmidae mitogenomes and provide new insights into the phylogeny of Brachyura.

Interannual variations in salt flux at 80°E section of the equatorial Indian Ocean

The interannual variations in salt flux on the 80°E section in the equatorial Indian Ocean were explored based on the ORAS5 data,which was quite consistent with the observational data among the four available reanalysis *** results indicated that the area with significant interannual variations in salt flux coincided with that of significant climatological mean salt flux in general and was mainly located in the upper 150 m ***,three important areas were identified in the north-south direction,i.e.,(1)the Equatorial Indian Ocean Area(EIOA,3°S–3°N),where the mean salt flux was eastward with the largest value on the section and associated with the most significant interannual variations mainly modulated by the Wyrtki Jets and the Equatorial Undercurrent;(2)the South Equatorial Indian Ocean Area(SEIOA,3°S–6°S),where the mean salt flux changed in the vertical direction from strong eastward flux in the upper layer to weak westward flux in the subsurface layer and associated with significant interannual variations in the upper 100 m layer,which was affected by the South Equatorial Countercurrent;and(3)the North Equatorial Indian Ocean Area(NEIOA,3°N–6°N),where the mean salt flux changed in the north-south direction from strong westward flux to the north of 5°N to weak eastward flux in the south and associated with relatively significant interannual variations,which was mainly influenced by the South Sri Lanka Coastal *** leading interannual variation modes were revealed by the empirical orthogonal function *** first mode accounted for 39%of the total variance and had four significant spatial antinodes;two of those in-phase antinodes were located at SEIOA and upper 75 m of EIOA,and the other two opposite in-phase antinodes were located at NEIOA and below 75 m of *** second mode accounted for 17%of the total variance having four antinodes with two dominant out-of-phase antinodes located at the subsurface of EIOA and ***

A new species of the genus Occidozyga is reported from Southern Guangxi,China,based on morphological characters and molecular *** data revealed that the new species,Occidozyga shiwandashanensis ***.,differs from its congeners by a combination of the following characters:(1)medium body size(SVL 25.2−33.8 mm in males,34.9−38.9 mm in females);(2)pale brown dorsum with irregular pale dark spots,especially on head;(3)creamy white ventral surface with brown spots on lateral margin and throat;(4)tongue fleshy,rounded,without notch,(5)tympanum hidden;(6)finger webbing absent and toe webbing full,but fourth toe not webbed to discs;(7)tips of fingers pointed,tips of toes rounded,slightly expanded into *** new species occurs on *** and inhabits montane evergreen forests at 500−600 m a.s.l.

With the introduction of the concept of land use transition into China,related researches have been carried out extensively in the past two decades,which enrich the knowledge of land system *** paper describes the development of research on land use transitions in China from the perspectives of conceptual connotations,theoretical model,research methods,and research progress and *** the in-depth investigation of land use transitions,the concept and connotations of land use morphology are developed and encapsulated as two kinds,i.e.,dominant morphology and recessive *** dominant morphology refers to the land use structure of a certain region over a certain period of time,with features such as the quantity and spatial pattern of land use *** the recessive morphology includes the land use features in the aspects of quality,property rights,management mode,input,output and ***,the concept of land use transition is further developed,and the theoretical model of regional land use transitions is ***,three innovative integrated approaches to study land use transitions are put forward,i.e.,multidisciplinary research framework for recessive land use transition,transect and horizontal *** date,there have been 62 *** 166 *** on the topic of"land use transition"in *** 2002–2019,the National Natural Science Foundation of China has funded 48 research programs on the theme of"land use transition".As such,the Chinese scholars have adapted the concept derived from western literature to the situations and experiences in China.

Comparative mitochondrial genome analysis of Varunidae and its phylogenetic implications

Complete mitochondrial genomes(mitogenomes)can indicate phylogenetic relationships,as well as useful information for gene rearrangement mechanisms and molecular ***,the phylogenetic location of the genus Varuna(Brachyura:Varunidae)has not been well resolved mainly because of limited representatives(only two extant species).Here,we determined a new mitogenome of this genus(Varuna litterata)and added the published mitogenomes to reconstruct the phylogeny of *** 16368-bp mitogenome contains the entire set of 37 genes and a putative control *** characteristics of this newly sequenced mitogenome were described and compared with the other 15 Varunidae *** 16 analyzed mitogenomes have identical gene order and similar molecular *** sliding window and genetic distance analyses demonstrate highly variable nucleotide diversity,with comparatively low variability of COI and COII,and high variability of *** nonsynonymous/synonymous substitution rates(dN/dS ratio)analysis shows that all 13 PCGs are under purifying selection and ATP8 gene evolves under the least selective *** tRNA genes,two rRNAs,one PCG,and the putative control region are found to be rearranged with respect to the pancrustacean ground pattern gene *** duplication/random loss model is adopted to explain the large-scale gene rearrangement events occurring in Varunidae *** analyses show that all Varunidae species are placed into one group,and form a sister clade with ***,the phylogenetic relationships within Varunidae are not completely consistent based on the two different datasets used in this *** findings will contribute to a better understanding of gene rearrangement and molecular evolution in Varunidae mitogenomes,as well as provide insights into the phylogenetic studies of Brachyura.

A new species of the genus Leptobrachella,Leptobrachella damingshanensis *** described from central Guangxi,China,based on morphological,molecular,and acoustic *** analyses using a 16S rRNA gene fragment indicated that the new species formed an independent clade close to *** and ***,the new species differs from all known congeners based on a combination of the following characters:medium size(snout-vent length(SVL)33.6–34.4 mm in males);pair of distinct jacinth humeral glands on proximal thigh area;rough dorsal skin with sparse jacinth tubercles and several short longitudinal ridges;creamy white ventral surface with small,creamy white glands on throat,chest,belly,and ventral surfaces of thighs,becoming more concentrated near lateral margin;webbing and lateral fringes absent on fingers,toes with rudimentary webbing and narrow lateral fringes;flanks with small irregular black spots;iris bicolored,upper half copper,fading to silver in lower *** p-distances were greater than 4.7%between Leptobrachella damingshanensis *** all homologous DNA sequences available for the 16S rRNA *** new species is only known to occur in the Damingshan National Nature Reserve,where it inhabits montane evergreen forests between 1000–1200 m a.s.l.

Investigating the Long-Term Relationship between Aerosol Optical Thickness and Land Use/Cover Change in Guangxi Coastal Cities, China

Land Use/Cover Change (LUCC) has an impact on AOD to a certain extent. It is of great significance for ecological environment and public health to pay attention to and explore the response mechanism of AOD to LUCC. Based on remote sensing satellite technology, using landsat8 and MODIS data, this paper analyzes the correlation between different land use types and AOD in beibu gulf coastal urban belt under the background of wide-scale region and long time series, and further discusses the difference value and contribution level of each LUCC to AOD. The results show that: 1) there is a positive correlation between PM concentration and cultivated land, urban land, water area and other types of land, and the correlation coefficient increases in turn, R is 0.812, 0.685, 0.627, 0.416, respectively, which indicates that the increase of cultivated land and urban land increases PM concentration to a certain extent;2) there is a significant negative correlation between PM concentration and forest land, R is -0.924, The results show that the decrease of woodland is an important factor for the increase of atmospheric particulate matter concentration in the study area from 2015 to 2019;3) through the contribution analysis method, the contribution of cultivated land to AOD is the largest, followed by urban land, and the water area is the smallest in 2015-2019, which indicates that the land use mode is closely related to AOD. It can be helpful to reasonably plan land use types and scientifically optimize land use structure. It can effectively reduce the concentration of air pollution particles.

The Paramesotriton Chang, 1935 genus of Asian warty newts is the second most diverse genus in the family Salamandridae, currently containing 14recognized species from northern Vietnam to southwest-central and southern China. Although species of this genus have been included in previous phylogenetic studies, the origin and interspecific relationships of the genus are still not fully resolved,especially at key nodes in the phylogeny. In this study, we sequenced mitochondrial genomes and 32nuclear genes from 27 samples belonging to 14species to reconstruct the interspecific phylogenetic relationships within Paramesotriton and explore its historical biogeography in southern China. Both Bayesianinferenceandmaximum-likelihood analyses highly supported the monophyly of Paramesotriton and its two recognized species groups(P. caudopunctatus and P. chinensis groups)and further identified five hypothetical phylogenetic cryptic species. Biogeographic analyses indicated that Paramesotriton originated in southwestern China(Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau/South China) during the late Oligocene. The time of origin of Paramesotriton corresponded to the second uplift of the Himalayan/Qinghai-Xizang(Tibetan) Plateau(QTP), rapid lateral extrusion of Indochina, and formation of karst landscapes in southwestern *** component analysis(PCA), independent sample t-tests, and niche differentiation using bioclimatic variables based on locations of occurrence suggested that Paramesotriton habitat conditions in the three current regions(West, South,and East) differ significantly, with different levels of climatic niche differentiation. Species distribution model(SDM) predictions indicated that the most suitable distribution areas for the P. caudopunctatus and P. chinensis species groups are western and southern/eastern areas of southern China.
