Developing the efficient and low-cost electrocatalysts derived from biomass is a desired solution to address economy and sustainability challenges of hydrogen production from water electrolysis due to utilizing metalbased catalysts. Herein, the peeled cornstalk-derived porous carbon plates synthesized by salt template-assisted high-temperature pyrolysis are utilized as self-supported metal-free electrocatalysts to unravel the oxygen evolution activity for alkaline water splitting. The resultant PC-700-10 honeycomb carbon catalyst exhibits the superior electrocatalysis for oxygen evolution owning to its high specific surface area of 52.0 m2g-1, suitable microand meso-pores, electron-withdrawing pyridinic-N moiety and appropriate balance between hydrophilicity and electroconductivity. Theoretical calculations reveal that the largest energy barrier of forming *OOH limits the OER rate and *OH oxidation generates the energetically more favorable epoxide intermediate. This finding opens the way to construct the hopeful metal-free OER electrocatalysts via regulating their intrinsic structure, and inspires the applications of waste biomass in the energy-correlated fields.

The unstable zinc anode/electrolyte interface induced by corrosion,interfacial water splitting reaction,and dendrite growth seriously degrades the performances of metal Zn anode in aqueous ***,the nucleation and growth of zinc hydroxide sulfate(ZHS),an interfacial by-product,has been tailored by Tween 80 in the electrolyte,which thereby assists in in-situ forming a dense solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)with small-sized ZHS and evenly distributed Tween *** SEI has high corrosion resistance and uniform distribution of zinc ions,which not only contributes to blocking the interfacial side reactions but also induces stable and calm zinc plating/***,the modified electrolyte can confer the assembled Zn||Zn symmetric cell with a stable operation life over 1500 h at 1 mA·cm^(−2)and 1 mAh·cm^(−2)as well as the practical Zn||NH4V4O10 full battery with a high-rate capacity of 120 mAh·g^(−1)at the current density of 5 A·g^(−1).This work provides a way for regulating and reusing interfacial by-products,and a new sight on stabilization electrodes/electrolyte interfaces.

Drought is the main abiotic stress that restricts wheat *** rapid development of sequencing technology and its widespread application to various fields have revealed the structural characteristics and regulation of related genes through gene expression ***,we studied responses of wheat plants under drought and rewatering conditions,using morphological and physiological ***,a transcriptome analysis was conducted on Jingmai 12,a drought-resistant wheat strain,to explore the mechanism underlying the response of drought-resistant wheat seedlings to drought stress at the transcriptome *** stress caused morphological and physiological changes in both drought-resistant and-sensitive varieties,but to a greater extent in the drought-sensitive *** re-watering,the drought-resistant wheat showed greater ability to recover than the drought-sensitive *** sequencing of Jingmai 12 revealed 97,422 genes,including 80,373 known genes and 17,049 newly predicted *** observed upregulation of genes was mostly involved in hormone and signal transduction,carbon metabolism,amino acid synthesis,small molecule production,transmembrane transport,ROS detoxification and defense,drought response protein,and protective enzyme *** genes were mostly involved in photosynthesis,lipid metabolism,signaling,and auxin *** rehydration,these genes and metabolic pathways returned to *** results suggest that all these changes are adaptations to drought *** morphological adaptation,physiological regulation,and the expression of drought-induced genes,normal growth of drought-resistant varieties under drought stress can be *** results increase our understanding of the transcriptomic changes taking place in drought-resistant wheat seedlings under drought stress,and provide a direction for future investigations.

Ammonium vanadate compounds featuring large capacity,superior rate capability and light weight are regarded as promising cathode materials for aqueous zinc ion batteries(AZIBs).However,the controllable synthesis of desired ammonium vanadates remains a ***,various ammonium vanadate compounds were successfully prepared by taking advantage of ethylene glycol(EG)regulated polyolreduction strategy and solvent effect via hydrothermal *** morphology and crystalline phase of resultant products show an evolution from dendritic(NH_(4))_(2)V_(6)O_(16)to rod-like NH_(4)V_(4)O_(10)and finally to lamellar(NH4)2V4O9 as increasing the amount of ***,the NH_(4)V_(4)O_(10)product exhibits a high initial capacity of 427.5 mAh/g at 0.1 A/g and stable cycling with a capacity retention of 90.4%after 5000 cycles at 10 A/*** relatively excellent electrochemical performances of NH_(4)V_(4)O_(10)can be ascribed to the stable open-framework layered structure,favorable(001)interplanar spacing,and peculiar rod-like morphology,which are beneficial to the highly reversible Zn^(2+)storage *** work offers a unique way for the rational design of high-performance cathode materials for AZIBs.

Soil Fungal Diversity and Community Composition in Response to Continuous Sweet Potato Cropping Practices

Soil fungi are extremely important for maintaining soil health and plant production in agricultural ***,the effect of continuous cropping of sweet potato on soil fungal communities and physiochemical parameters has not been well *** the present study,four sweet potato fields consecutively monocultured for 1,2,3,and 4 years were selected to investigate the effect of monoculture on soil fungal communities through Illumina MiSeq *** cropping of sweet potatoes dramatically altered the fungal community composition,whereas fungal diversity was almost *** and Basidiomycota were the most abundant phyla in all soil samples,accounting for 32.59%and 21.14%of the average relative abundance,*** abundance of some potential pathogens,such as Ascobolus spp,specifically Ascobolus stercorarius,and some unknown fungi increased significantly as the sweet potato monoculture period increased,and their presence were highly positively correlated with disease *** contrast,Basidiomycota,Bullera,Fusarium and Trichocladium most likely play roles as antagonists of sweet potato disease development,as their relative abundance decreased significantly over time and were negatively correlated with disease *** and correlation analyses revealed that soil pH and organic carbon content were the most important factors driving these *** findings provided a dynamic overview of the fungal community and presented a clear scope for screening beneficial fungi and pathogens of sweet potato.

The performance tests were conducted on oil–water heat transfer in circumferential overlap trisection helical baffle heat exchangers with incline angles of 12°, 16°, 20°, 24° and 28°, and compared with a segmental baffle heat exchanger. The results show that the shell side heat transfer coefficient h_o and pressure drop Δp_o both increase while the comprehensive index h_o/Δp_o decreases with the increase of the mass flow rate of all schemes. And the shell side heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and the comprehensive index ho/Δpo decrease with the increase of the baffle incline angle at a certain mass flow rate. The average values of shell side heat transfer coefficient and the comprehensive index h_o/Δp_o of the 12° helical baffled scheme are above 50% higher than those of the segmental one correspondingly, while the pressure drop value is very close and the ratios of the average values are about 1.664 and 1.596, respectively. The shell-side Nusselt number Nu_o and the comprehensive index Nu_o·Eu_(zo)^(-1) increase with the increase of Reynolds number of the shell side axial in all schemes, and the results also demonstrate that the small incline angled helical scheme has better comprehensive performance.

Experiments conducted to determine the effect of copper addition on the machinability of plastic mold steel, 4Cr16Mo, were presented. The machinability of mold steel 4Cr16Mo was visibly improved by adding Cu. The top wear of 4Cr16Mo with copper was less than that without copper. The Cu-rich phase had the effect of a lubricant and the heat conductivity, which reduced cutting-tool wear, improved machinability, and increased the service life of the cutting-tool. Increasing of copper addition decreased the hot-working character of 4Cr16Mo. The optimal hot-working parameters for 4Cr16Mo with copper were determined by the tensile test and the compression test. The rate of deformation should be adopted as 0.6 s-1. The heating-up temperature, initial forging temperature, and terminal forging temperature were 1200℃, 1150℃, and 950℃, respectively.

The machinability of 4Cr13 steel was improved obviously by adding Cu and S. The effect of copper addition on the machinability of 4Cr13 was similar to that of sulphur addition. By means of SEM, EBSD, and HREM, the distribution and size of the free cutting phase in the steel 4Crl3Cu were studied. The results showed that the free cutting phase was copper-rich phase. The copper-rich phases dispersed in the steel and were determined to have about 10 nm in diameter. The content of copper in the copper-rich phase was over 70%.

High functionality given to steel products results in incremental environment loads at the steelmaking ***,at the stage of utilization,high-functional steel products prove more environment friendly than their conventional counterparts in many ***,evaluation on contribution of steel products to environmental improvement requires an integrated approach that considers the product over its entire life cycle - life cycle assessment(LCA).This paper discusses the relationship between the improvement of steel products performance and environmental impact from the entire life cycle *** LCA method to calculate and assess contribution of high-functional steel products during the life cycle to environmental improvement is *** case studies of baoshan Iron & Steel Co.,Ltd.(Baosteel for short) are given to show that LCA is a scientific and systematic method for eco-materials evaluation or eco-design:in a power transformer,using silicon steel B30P110 to replace B30G130 can reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the region of 15.1% over the life cycle of the power transformer;tinplate steel of Baosteel for two-piece steel cans experienced six times thickness reduction from 0.280 to 0.225 mm,which results in 14.5% emission reduction over the life cycle of two-piece steel *** is a systematic and scientific method for evaluating on products environmental performance from life cycle perspective.

Effect of Waxy Wheat Flour Blends on the Quality of Fresh and Stale Bread

Starch is the major component in the wheat kernel, which is mainly composed of amylose and amylopectin. The wheat without amylose in its endosperm was called ＂waxy wheat＂. Waxy wheat can be used to adjust the amylose content and improve the wheat-based food quality by adding to non-waxy wheat flour. In order to investigate the effect of waxy wheat flour on the quality of fresh and stale bread, waxy wheat flour was added into the flour of Canadian Spring Wheat 2 at 0.0, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0, 20.0, 25.0, 30.0, and 35.0% to make breads. The physicochemical properties were adjusted to suitability by adding Yangmai 158 flour, and breads were evaluated for sensory quality, crumb firmness, loaf volume and weight loss over a period of 0, 2, 4, and 6 days. The result showed that the best total score of fresh bread was 82.9 by adding waxy flour at 7.0%, though no significant difference was found among blends with 0.0-15.0% of waxy flour. Breads with the addition of 22.0% waxy flour had lower firmness, and decreasing loss of weight. Waxy wheat flour blend at 15.0% was optimal in retarding staling without significant decreasing fresh bread quality in comparison to the control.
