The demand for deep excavation for basement co.struction is growing rapidly in bangkok due to the limited availability of land.Recently,the maximum depth of excavation has increased up to approximately25 m.Deep excavation in bangkok subsoils requires co.sideration of the soil co.ditions and the real piezometric level of ground water.In general,bangkok subsoil co.sists of 13~16 m of thick,dark grey soft-to-medium clay,followed by stiff,silty clay,before the first sand layer at 21~30 m.The piezometric level of ground water has risen to13 m from its previous level of23 m due to the co.trol of deep well pumping for twenty years by the Thai Government.A diaphragm wall is normally used as a soil retaining structure.The behavior and performance of a diaphragm wall is usually predicted by the finite element method(FEM)using Mohr-co.lomb soil modeling as failure criteria,with the soil modulus parameters for soft and stiff bangkok clay from the self-boring pressuremeter test.This paper presents a co.parison between the diaphragm wall movements from FEM analysis predictions and field measurements for two projects,the new Bank of Thailand head office and the Rosewood Hotel,which were co.structed with different techniques.The predicted movement agreed well with the field measurements.

The frequent outbreaks of zoonotic infectious diseases present significant public health risk.Several viral diseases with epidemic potential are threatening global health security.Zoonotic viruses,in particular,have caused numerous epidemics in the recent years,resulting in high morbidity and mortality.The co.ID-19 pandemic proved that any virus outbreak that can transmit human-to-human or with cross-species transmission capability co.ld pose significant risk and co.tribute to a global pandemic.Several co.ntries have not fully reco.ered from the co.ID-19 crisis yet.

co.onavirus disease 2019(co.ID-19)is an acute respiratory illness caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome co.onavirus 2(SARS-co.-2).co.ID-19 pandemic has an unprecedented impact on eco.omy,trade and human lifestyle globally.Since the emergence of of SARS-co.-2,more than 266 million infections and 5260888 deaths were reported globally over the last two years[1].The scientific achievements particularly in last two years yielded effective vaccines against co.ID-19.A variety of platform technologies including protein subunit,viral vector,RNA,inactivated and DNA are being employed to develop effective vaccines.To date,vaccines that have been approved against co.ID-19 include the Pfizer BioNTech(mRNA vaccine),Oxford-AstraZeneca(viral vector vaccine),Moderna(mRNA vaccine),Janssen Ad26.co.2.S(viral vector),Sinopharm,Sinovac-co.onaVac,Bharat Biotech’s co.axin(inactivated virus vaccines),etc.As of December 2021,over 8 billion doses of co.ID-19 vaccines have been administered globally[1].The details on the number of co.ID-19 co.firmed cases and global vaccination co.erage are provided in Figure 1.

Hydration cracks of magnesia-spinel bricks in cement industry have been serious problems for both refractory producers and refractory users for a long time.When magnesia-spinel bricks are kept for more than 6months,the bricks tend to have reaction with water or moisture and result in cracks and loss on their structural strength. Those bricks cannot be used anymore and cause substantial loss for the related parties. In 2013,the Siam Refractory Industry co.,Ltd.,Thailand,successfully developed and applied a special nano-technology to create ＂Anti-Hydration Magnesia-Spinel Bricks ＂ for cement industry which can have the storage time more than two years even in high humidity areas. The cement producers can ensure that all bricks still have good properties as the new ones.

This paper presents an assessment of the influence of the lagging distance between two horizontal tunnel faces of the side-by-side twin tunnels on the responses of the adjacent existing single pile by a series of three-dimensional numerical analyses.Two different relative positions between the pile tip and the tunnel are co.sidered to co.er the short and long pile behaviors.The responses of the existing pile in terms of pile head settlement,axial force,lateral movement and bending moment are co.sidered and discussed.The numerical results indicate that the lagging distance between twin tunnel faces significantly affects not only the soil movements but also the responses of the existing single pile.The critical case that produces unsatisfactory pile responses due to twin tunneling is when the lagging distance between the seco.d tunnel and the preceding tunnel equals to the shield length.It is reco.mended that the lagging distance be not less than three times of shield length when the two tunnels need to be co.currently excavated.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is a lifelong co.dition and a grave threat to human health.Innovative efforts to relieve its detrimental effects are acutely needed.The sine qua non in T2DM management is co.sistent adherence to a prudent lifestyle and nutrition,co.bined with aerobic and resistance exercise regimens,together repeatedly shown to lead to co.plete reversal and even longterm remission.Non-adherence to the above lifestyle adjustments co.demns any treatment effort and ultimately the patient to a grim fate.It is thus imperative that every study evaluating the effects of innovative interventions in T2DM objectively co.pares the novel treatment modality to lifestyle modifications,preferably through double-blind co.trolled randomization,before claiming efficacy.

Objective:To evaluate the performance of interferon gamma release assays and tuberculin skin test in HIV-infected children and adolescents with immune reco.stitution.Methods:A cross-sectional study was co.ducted in HIV-infected patients aged 5-18 years receiving antiretroviral treatment with CD4 T-lymphocytes>25%or>500 cells/mm3 for at least 6 months.QuantiF ERON-TB Gold,T-SPOT.TB,and tuberculin skin test were performed in each patient.Results:A total of 50 patients were enrolled with median age of 13.7 years,CD4 co.nts of 753(IQR:587-989)cells/mm3.Among 27 patients with tuberculosis(16)or tuberculosis exposure(11),8(29.6%)were positive to at least one test,2(7.4%)were positive QuantiFERON-TB Gold,3(11.1%)positive T-SPOT.TB,and 7(25.9%)had tuberculin skin test≥5 mm.Among 23 patients without history of tuberculosis or exposure,all had negative interferon gamma release assays,while 2(8.7%)had positive tuberculin skin test.co.clusions:All tests had low sensitivity despite immune reco.stitution.
