BackgroundIn the normal life cycle of the parasite(Echinococcus multilocularis)that causes alveolar echinococcosis,domestic and wild carnivores act as definitive hosts,and rodents act as intermediate *** presented study contributes to the research on the distribution and transmission pattern of *** in China having identified sheep as an unusual intermediate host taking part in the domestic transmission of alveolar echinococcosis in Gansu Province,*** 2020 to 2021,nine whitish different cyst-like were collected from the liver of sheep in Gansu Province for examination.A near complete mitochondrial(mt)genome and selected nuclear genes were amplified from the cyst-like lesion for *** confirm the status of the specimen,comparative analysis with reference sequences,phylogenetic analysis,and network analysis were *** isolates displayed≥98.87%similarity to *** NADH dehydrogenase sub-unit 1(nad1)(894 bp)reference sequences deposited in ***,amplification of the nad4 and nad2 genes also confirmed all nine samples as *** with>99.30%***,three nuclear genes,pepck(1545 bp),elp-exons VII and VIII(566 bp),and elp-exon IX(256 bp),were successfully amplified and sequenced for one of the isolates with 98.42%similarity,confirming the isolates were correctly identified as *** analysis also correctly placed the isolates with other *** a result of the discovery of *** in an unusual intermediate host,which is considered to have the highest zoonotic potential,the result clearly demonstrated the necessity for expanded surveillance in the area.

Prevalence of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus in animals in Henan Province, China

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome(SFTS)is an emerging infectious disease caused by severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV).SFTSV has been found in humans,ticks and animals,and SFTS has high mortality and increasing prevalence in East *** the study,the samples(heart,liver,lung,kidney,spleen,brain tissue and serum)were collected from 374 domestic animals and 241 wild animals in Pingqiao District and Xinxian county of Xinyang in Henan Province,China.275(44.72%,275/615)animals were positive for anti-SFTSV antibodies,the anti-SFTSV antibodies positive ratios of domestic and wild animals were 43.58%(163/374)and 46.47%(112/241),*** was no significant difference in domestic and wild animals,but significant differences were detected among different species of animals(x^2=112.59,P<0.0001).Among 615 animals,105(17.07%,105/615)animals were positive for SFTSV RNA,and only one SFTSV strain was isolated from heart tissue of a yellow *** phylogenetic analysis shows that the sequence from animals belonged to the same group with viral sequences obtained from *** animals maybe play a reservoir host in maintaining the life cycle of SFTSV in nature.

Background Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome （HFRS） is endemic in Junan county, Shandong Province, China. We conducted geographic information system （GIS）-based spatial analysis with the objective of estimating the spatial distribution of rodent populations and their hantavirus infection patterns, to describe the spatial relationships of hantavirus strains in small ecological areas and to identify key areas in endemic areas of HFRS for future public health planning and resource allocation.

Spatial Distribution of <i>Anopheles sinensis</i>and Its Relationship with Natural Environmental Factors in Wanning county on Hainan Island, China

Anopheles sinensis is widely distributed in Wanning county, it is necessary to understand the spatial distribution characteristics of Anopheles sinensis in order to maintain the elimination of malaria in Wanning. During May and October 2009, we sampled adult mosquitoes at 36 villages within Wanning county on Hainan island, and collected meteorological and geographical data at each sampling site. We used these data to analyze the spatial distribution of adult Anopheles sinensis mosquitoes, and logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the association of the spatial distribution of Anopheles sinensis with the geographical and meteorological factors. We found that the density of Anopheles sinensis showed a significant positive spatial correlation. From May to October, on the whole, the high-density area was located in the central part of Wanning county. But each month there was a relatively high-density cluster, and their location and range were not exactly the same. From east to west, the density of Anopheles sinensis increased initially and then decreased, but from south to north, there were different trends in the periods of May to August and September to October. Logistic regression analysis showed that the main environmental factors related with the distribution of Anopheles sinensis were land use type, soil type, distance to road, air pressure and relative humidity. These analysis results showed that the distribution of Anopheles sinensis had obvious spatial heterogeneity in Wanning county, which was related with geographical and meteorological factors. The mechanism of these environmental factors on the distribution of Anopheles sinensis needs to be further studied.

Dear Editor, Cystic echinococcosis （CE）, caused by Echinococcus granulosus in larval stage, is considered as one of the most dangerous parasitic zoonosis in the world. The obligate 2-host parasitic cycle of Echinococcus granulosus is predominantly synanthropic. Dogs are the usual definitive hosts, and lots of mammalian species can be intermediate hosts, including domestic livestock and human[I2]. In the Tibetan plateau, China, the population is mainly Tibetans primarily engaged in livestock husbandry and CE is therefore a health problem for both people and animal in Tibetan communities. The reported infection rate of Echinococcus gronulosus in slaughtered yak in slaughterhouses is usually very high, being about 50% or higher as reported, and the liver and lungs are the main affected organs[34].
