CO_(2) photoreduction into carbon-based chemicals has been considered as an appropriate way to alleviate the energy issue and greenhouse ***,the 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin cobalt(II)(CoTCPP)has been integrated with BiOBr microspheres and formed the CoTCPP/BiOBr *** as-prepared CoTCPP/BiOBr-2 composite shows optimized photocatalytic performance for CO_(2) conversion into CO and CH_(4) upon irradiation with 300 W Xe lamp,which is 2.03 and 2.58 times compared to that of BiOBr,*** introduced CoTCPP significantly enhanced light absorption properties,promoted rapid separation of photogenerated carriers and boosted the chemisorption of CO_(2) *** metal Co^(2+) at the center of the porphyrin molecules also acts as adsorption center for CO_(2) molecules,accelerating the CO_(2) conversion into CO and *** possible mechanism of CO_(2) photoreduction was explored by in-situ FT-IR *** work offers a new possibility for the preparation of advanced photocatalysts.

Early detection of influenza outbreaks is one of the key priorities on a national level for preparedness and *** study presents the design and implementation of Fluwitter,which is a spatio-temporal webbased prototype framework for pseudo real-time detection of influenza outbreaks from ***,the framework integrates PostgreSQL database server with PostGIS spatial extension,Twitter streaming client,pre-processor,tagger and similarity calculator for semantic information extraction(IE).The IE of tagged terms is supported by Natural Language Processing(NLP)techniques,DBpediaSpotlight and WordNet Similarity for Java(WS4J),while data analytics,visualization,and mapping are supported by GeoServer and other GIS Free Open Source Software(FOSS).The prototype was calibrated to maximize detection of influenza using rules developed from ontology-based semantic similarity *** Twitter-generated influenza cases were validated by weekly hospitalization records issued by Ohio Department of Health(ODH).The optimized rule produced a final F-measure value of 0.72 and accuracy(ACC)value of 94.4%.The validation suggested the existence of moderate correlations for the beginning of the time period Southeast region(r=0.52),the Northwestern region(r=0.38),and the Central region(r=0.33)and weak correlations for the entire time *** potential strengths and benefits of the prototype are shown through spatio-temporal assessment and visualization of influenza potential in Ohio.

The mechanical behavior of cemented gangue backfill materials(CGBMs)is closely related to particle size distribution(PSD)of aggregates and properties of cementitious ***,the true triaxial compression tests,CT scanning,SEM,and EDS tests were conducted on cemented gangue backfill samples(CGBSs)with various carbon nanotube concentrations(P_(CNT))that satisfied fractal theory for the PSD of *** mechanical properties,energy dissipations,and failure mechanisms of the CGBSs under true triaxial compression were systematically *** results indicate that appropriate carbon nanotubes(CNTs)effectively enhance the mechanical properties and energy dissipations of CGBSs through micropore filling and microcrack bridging,and the optimal effect appears at P_(CNT)of 0.08wt%.Taking PSD fractal dimension(D)of 2.500 as an example,compared to that of CGBS without CNT,the peak strength(σ_(p)),axial peak strain(ε_(1,p)),elastic strain energy(Ue),and dissipated energy(U_(d))increased by 12.76%,29.60%,19.05%,and90.39%,***,excessive CNTs can reduce the mechanical properties of CGBSs due to CNT agglomeration,manifesting a decrease inρ_(p),ε_(1,p),and the volumetric strain increment(Δε_(v))when P_(CNT)increases from 0.08wt%to 0.12wt%.Moreover,the addition of CNTs improved the integrity of CGBS after macroscopic failure,and crack extension in CGBSs appeared in two modes:detour and pass through the ***σ_(p)and U_(d)firstly increase and then decrease with increasing D,and porosity shows the opposite ***ε_(1,p)andΔε_(v)are negatively correlated with D,and CGBS with D=2.150 has the maximum deformation parameters(ε_(1,p)=0.05079,Δε_(v)=0.01990)due to the frictional slip effect caused by coarse *** increasing D,the failure modes of CGBSs are sequentially manifested as oblique shear failure,"Y-shaped"shear failure,and conjugate shear failure.

In this paper we review and integrate key aspects of behavioral and life history traits, food supply and populationdynamics of the white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus), a species that is abundant and widely distributedacross much of eastern North America. Results are based largely on a 33-year mark-and-recapture study in a forestfragment in northwest Ohio, USA. Behavioral plasticity in such reproductive traits as mating system and parentalcare allows this species to adjust quickly to changing environments. The species has a relatively “fast” life history,with rapid attainment of sexual maturity and high fecundity in the face of high mortality rates. Maximal reproductiveeffort early in life enables a rapid population response. Food supply, in the form of mast, determines thesize of the reproducing population in early spring, which, in turn, influences the size of the late summer peak *** peak population size is also affected by short-term weather events possibly acting via the food *** effects of weather and food on population growth are in part mediated through competition, including defenseof space and suppression of reproduction. The inelasticity of female territories appears to set an upper limit topopulation density.

This review focuses on individual effects of major global change factors, such as elevated CO2, O3, UV light and temperature, on plant secondary chemistry. These secondary metabolites are well-known for their role in plant defense against insect herbivory. Global change effects on secondary chemicals appear to be plant species-specifc and dependent on the chemical type. Even though plant chemical responses induced by these factors are highly variable, there seems to be some specificity in the response to different environmental stressors. For example, even though the production of phenolic compounds is enhanced by both elevated CO2 and UV light levels, the latter appears to primarily increase the concentrations of flavonoids. Likewise, specific phenolic metabolites seem to be induced by O3 but not by other factors, and an increase in volatile organic compounds has been particularly detected under elevated temperature. More information is needed regarding how global change factors influence inducibility of plant chemical defenses as well as how their indirect and direct effects impact insect performance and behavior, herbivory rates and pathogen attack. This knowledge is crucial to better understand how plants and their associated natural enemies will be affected in future changing environments.

Friedel-Crafts reaction and transition-metal catalysis represent primary methodologies for arene acylation; however, suffer from certain limitations, such as electronic effect-dependent reactivity, regioselectivity issues, the necessity of directing group, and relatively exceptionally limited exploration in meta-and para-acylations. N-heterocyclic carbene(NHC) catalysis has recently emerged as a promising alternative strategy for arene acylation, offering distinct regioselectivity profiles that are challenging to achieve through known methods. Herein, an NHC-mediated photo-catalytic para-selective C–H acylation of aryl alcohols is disclosed. The reaction employs a remote radical-induced temporary spiro cyclization strategy, proceeding via tandem radical dearomatization, radical acylation, rearomatization processes. Combined experimental and computational mechanistic studies support the proposed reaction pathway and observe an exclusive para-selectivity regardless of the nature of the substituents on the substrates. Despite the less satisfactory yields, the current method exhibits non-electronic nature-based reactivity and regioselectivity, enabling quick access to acylated arenes that are difficult or impossible for reported methods.
