The electric catfish(Malapterurus electricus),belonging to the family Malapteruridae,order Siluriformes(Actinopterygii:Ostariophysi),is one of the six branches that has independently evolved electrical *** assembled a 796.75 Mb *** genome and anchored 88.72%sequences into 28 *** family analysis revealed 295 expanded gene families that were enriched on functions related to glutamate *** evolutionary analyses of electric organs among different lineage of electric fishes further revealed that the coding gene of rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 4-like(arhgef4),which is associated with G-protein coupled receptor(GPCR)signaling pathway,underwent adaptive parallel *** identification suggests visual degradation in catfishes,and an important role for taste in environmental *** findings fill in the genomic data for a branch of electric fish and provide a relevant genetic basis for the adaptive evolution of Siluriformes.

Bumblebees are important pollinators in agricultural ecosystems,but their abundance is declining *** is an urgent need to protect bumblebee health and their pollination *** possess specialized gut microbiota with potential to be used as probiotics to help defend at-risk bumblebee ***,evidence for probiotic benefits on bumblebees is ***,we evaluated how supplementation with Lactobacillus melliventris isolated from bumblebee gut affected the colony development of Bombus *** native strain colonized robustly and persisted long-term in bumblebees,leading to a significantly higher quality of ***,the tyrosine pathway was upregulated in the brain and fat body,while the Wnt and mTOR pathways of the gut were ***,the field experiment in the greenhouse revealed the supplementation of *** led to a 2.5-fold increase in the bumblebee survival rate and a more than 10%increase in the number of flowers visited,indicating a better health condition and pollination ability in field *** study represents a first screening for the potential use of the native gut member,***,as probiotic strains in hive supplement for bumblebee breeding,which may be a practical approach to improve immunity and hive health.

Soil microbial communities are pivotal in permafrost biogeochemical cycles,yet the variations of abundant and rare microbial taxa and their impacts on greenhouse gas emissions in different seasons,remain elusive,especially in the case of soil ***,we conducted a study on soil abundant and rare archaeal taxa during the growing and non-growing seasons in the active layer of alpine permafrost in the Qinghai-Tibetan *** results suggested that,for the archaeal communities in the sub-layer,abundant taxa exhibited higher diversity,while rare taxa maintained a more stable composition from the growing to non-growing *** soluble organic carbon and soil porosity were the most significant environmental variables affecting the compositions of abundant and rare taxa,*** and deterministic processes dominated the assemblies of rare and abundant taxa,*** archaeal ecological network influenced N_(2)O flux through different *** taxa performed an essential role in stabilizing the network and exerting important effects on N_(2)O *** study provides a pioneering and comprehensive investigation aimed at unravelling the mechanisms by which archaea or other microorganisms influence greenhouse gas emissions in the alpine permafrost.

DEAR EDITOR,Big cats,such as Amur tigers(Panthera tigris altaica)and Amur leopards(*** orientalis),are apex predator and have evolved specialized traits for hunting and carnivory(Moya et al.,2022),thus playing a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem integrity by regulating prey-predator ***,human-induced pressures,habitat fragmentation,and environmental alterations have restricted these species in small and isolated ***,all extant big cats are categorized as endangered or threatened according to their conservation *** tigers and Amur leopards share overlapping geographic ranges,habitats,and certain prey species in the forests of Northeast Asia(Jiang et al.,2015).To reduce interspecies conflict,these carnivores exhibit differentiated dietary and temporal *** tigers predominantly prey on large ungulates,while Amur leopards hunt small to medium-sized animals(Sugimoto et al.,2016).Additionally,they occupy different temporal niches,with tigers being active at night and leopards more active during the *** spatial and temporal niche partitioning,interspecific competition between these two species is ***,benefiting from their greater size,have a competitive advantage over leopards,which can manifest in occasional leopard predation by tigers and declines in leopard populations with increasing tiger density(Jiang et al.,2015).Tigers also displace leopards from marginal habitats in nature reserves where they coexist.

N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)plays an important role in embryogenesis,nuclear export,transcription splicing,and protein translation ***,we demonstrate a copper-free click chemistry-mediated assembly of single quantum dot(QD)nanosensor for accurately monitoring locus-specific m^(6)A in cancer *** m^(6)A-sensitive endoribonuclease MazF can digest the unmethylated A-RNA,and the intact m^(6)A-RNA then hybridizes with DNA probes a and b to produce a sandwich hybrid,initiating the click chemistry to generate probe a–b ligation product via first tandem ligation detection reaction(LDR)***,DNA probes c and d can hybridize with the probe a–b ligation product to generate the probe c–d ligation product via second LDR *** LDR cycles can be repeated through denaturation and annealing reaction to generate abundant biotin-/fluorophore-modified probe c–d ligation products that can easily assemble on the QD surface to induce distinct fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET)between QD and *** assay can be homogenously performed without the involvement of copper catalyst,m^(6)A-specific antibody,radioactive labeling,ligase enzyme,enzymatic reverse transcription,and next-generation ***,it can discriminate even 0.01% m^(6)A level in complex samples and accurately measure cellular m^(6)A-RNA expression,providing a promising avenue for clinical diagnostics and biomedical research.

Graphene, a two-dimensional material with outstanding electrical and mechanical properties, has attracted considerable attention in the field of semiconductor technologies due to its potential use as a buffer layer for the epitaxial Ⅲ-nitride growth. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the chemical vapor deposition growth of graphene on various insulating substrates for the nitride epitaxy, which offers a facile, inexpensive, and easily scalable methodology. However, certain challenges are still present in the form of producing high-quality graphene and achieving optimal interface compatibility with Ⅲ-nitride *** this review, we provide an overview of the bottlenecks associated with the transferred graphene fabrication techniques and the state-of-the-art techniques for the transfer-free graphene growth. The present contribution highlights the current progress in the transfer-free graphene growth on different insulating substrates, including sapphire, quartz, SiO_(2)/Si, and discusses the potential applications of transfer-free graphene in the Ⅲ-nitride epitaxy. Finally, it includes the prospects of the transfer-free graphene growth for the Ⅲ-nitride epitaxy and the challenges that should be overcome to realize its full potential in this field.

Suppressing the formation of amorphous surface carbon and contaminants during the preparation of graphene by chemical vapor deposition remains an ongoing ***,we analyzed how substrate characteristics affect graphene quality by simulating margin extension,the nucleation process,and defect pegging configurations on mono-crystalline oriented metal substrates with the aim of enhancing graphene *** formation energy and nucleation potential,which are indirect substrate–graphene interaction features,were found to appropriately evaluate graphene *** crystallographic orientation of the metal substrate was discovered to be critical for producing superclean graphene.A low graphene defect density and high nucleation rate on the Cu(100)facet guarantee growth of high-quality graphene,especially in terms of suppressing the formation of amorphous *** addition,rapid kink growth and self-healing on the Cu(100)facet facilitate rapid graphene synthesis,which is also promoted by rapid kink splicing and margin self-repair on this *** study provides theoretical insight useful for the synthesis of superclean graphene.

The monkeypox virus(MPXV)has triggered a current outbreak *** sequencing of MPXV and rapid tracing of genetic variants will benefit disease diagnosis and *** is a significant challenge but necessary to optimize the strategy and application of rapid full-length genome identification and to track variations of MPXV in clinical specimens with low viral loads,as it is one of the DNA viruses with the largest genome and the most AT-biased,and has a significant number of tandem *** we evaluated the performance of metagenomic and amplicon sequencing techniques,and three sequencing platforms in MPXV genome sequencing based on multiple clinical specimens of five mpox cases in Chinese *** rapidly identified the full-length genome of MPXV with the assembly of accurate tandem repeats in multiple clinical *** sequencing enables cost-effective and rapid sequencing of clinical specimens to obtain high-quality MPXV ***-generation sequencing facilitates the assembly of the terminal tandem repeat regions in the monkeypox virus genome and corrects a common misassembly in published ***,several intra-host single nucleotide variations were identified in the first imported mpox *** study offers an evaluation of various strategies aimed at identifying the complete genome of MPXV in clinical *** findings of this study will significantly enhance the surveillance of MPXV.
