The similarities and differences in inherent mechanism and characteristic frequency between the onedimensional(1D) poroelastic model and the layered White model were investigated. This investigation was conducted under the assumption that the rock was homogenous and isotropic at the mesoscopic scale. For the inherent mechanism, both models resulted from quasi-static flow in a slow P-wave diffusion mode, and the differences between them originated from saturated fluids and boundary conditions. On the other hand, for the characteristic frequencies of the models, the characteristic frequency of the 1D poroelastic model was first modified because the elastic constant and formula for calculating it were misused and then compared to that of the layered White model. Both of them moved towards higher frequencies with increasing permeability and decreasing viscosity and diffusion length. The differences between them were due to the diffusion length. The diffusion length for the 1D poroelastic model was determined by the sample length, whereas that for the layered White model was determined by the length of the representative elementary volume(REV). Subsequently, a numerical example was presented to demonstrate the similarities and differences between the models. Finally, published experimental data were interpreted using the 1D poroelastic model combined with the Cole-Cole *** prediction of the combined model was in good agreement with the experimental data, thereby validating the effectiveness of the 1D poroelastic model. Furthermore, the modified characteristic frequency in our study was much closer to the experimental data than the previous prediction, validating the effectiveness of our modification of the characteristic frequency of the 1D poroelastic model. Pool bio-oxidation and fitting analysis of low-grade arsenic-containing refractory gold ore

To overcome the limitations of geography, climate, and ore characteristics on the ore beneficiation process, biooxidation studies on low-grade arsenic-bearing refractory gold ore by pool leaching were carried out, as well as process fitting analysis. The gold particles are encapsulated by pyrite and arsenopyrite. After 60 days of biooxidation, the oxidation rates of arsenic, sulfur, and gold were 39%～69%, 24%～41%, and 49%～83%, respectively. The inoculated Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, Ferroplasma acidiphilum, and Leptospirillum ferrodiazotrophum could all mediate the initial pyrite/arsenopyrite oxidation and the Fe2+oxidation reaction, but only the former could mediate the subsequent sulfur compound oxidation. When compared to daily bacterial circulation and bacterial replacement every ten days, aeration improved the gold leaching rate by 14%～22%. The Boltzmann model could fit both the arsenic and sulfur bio-oxidation, with model fit variances greater than 0.98. Based on the experimental and fitting results, the bio-oxidation cycle was determined to be 60 days, and the bio-oxidation mechanisms are summarized. This study has significant practical implications for the rational utilization of gold resources and provides theoretical and practical guidance for similar gold ores.

Geological modeling of coalbed methane reservoirs in the tectonically deformed coal seam group in the Dahebian block,western Guizhou,China

The widely spread Carboniferous-Permian coal seam group in southern China has great potential for coalbed methane resources,but the extensively developed tectonically deformed coal seriously restricts its *** the Dahebian block in western Guizhou as the study area,the geological model of coalbed methane reservoirs in the tectonically deformed coal seam group was established,and the spatial distribution pattern of model parameters was clarified by clustering algorithms and factor *** facies model suggests that the main coal body structures in Nos.1,4,and 7 coal seams are cataclastic coal and granulated coal,whereas the No.11 coal seam is dominated by granulated coal,which has larger thicknesses and spreads more *** in situ permeability of primary undeformed coal,cataclastic coal,granulated coal,and mylonitized coal reservoirs are 0.333 mD,0.931 mD,0.146 mD,and 0.099 mD,respectively,according to the production performance analysis *** property model constructed by facies-controlled modeling reveals that Nos.1,4,and 7 coal seams have a wider high-permeability area,but the gas content is lower;the high-permeability area in the No.11 coal seam is more limited,but the gas content is *** results of the self-organizing map neural network and K-means clustering indicate that the geological model can be divided into 6 clusters,the model parameter characteristics of the 6 clusters are summarized by data analysis in combination with 6 factors extracted by factor analysis,and the application of data analysis results in multi-layer coalbed methane co-development is *** study provides ideas for the geological modeling in the tectonically deformed coal seam group and its data analysis.

In recent years,the exploration of seabed has been intensified,but the submarine soils of silt and sand in the Yellow Sea area have not been well investigated so *** this study,the physical and mechanical properties of silt and sand from the Yellow Sea were measured using a direct shear apparatus and their microstructures were observed using a scanning electron *** test results suggest that the shear strength of silt and sand increases linearly with the increase of normal *** on the direct shear test,the scanning electron microscope was used to observe the section surface of *** is observed that the section surface becomes rough,with many“V”‐shaped *** particles appear on the surface of the silt structure and tend to be *** X‐ray diffraction experiment reveals that the sand and silt have different *** shear strength of sand is slightly greater than that of silt under high stress,which is related to the shape of soil particles and the mineral *** results can be a reference for further study of other soils in the Yellow Sea;meanwhile,they can serve as soil parameters for the stability and durability analyses of offshore infrastructure construction.

Consolidation of high replacement ratio stone column-reinforced ground:Analytical solutions incorporating clogging effect

The utilization of stone columns has emerged as a popular ground improvement strategy,whereas the drainage performance can be adversely hampered by clogging *** the ample progress of calculation methods for the consolidation of stone column-improved ground,theoretical investigations into the clogging effect have not been thoroughly ***,it is imperative to involve the column consolidation deformation to mitigate computational error on the consolidation of composite ground with high replacement *** this context,an analytical model accounting for the initial clogging and coupled time and depth-dependent clogging of stone columns is ***,the resulting governing equations and analytical solutions are obtained under a new flow continuity relationship to incorporate column consolidation *** accuracy and reliability of the proposed model are illustrated by degradation analysis and case studies with good ***,the computed results of the current study are juxtaposed against the existing models,and an in-depth assessment of the impacts of several crucial parameters on the consolidation behavior is *** results reveal that ignoring column consolidation deformation leads to an overestimate of the consolidation rate,with maximum error reaching up to 16%as the replacement ratio ***,the initial clogging also has a significant influence on the consolidation ***,the increment of depth and time-clogging factors a and b will induce a noticeable retardation of the consolidation process,particularly in the later stage.

Homogenizing interfacial shear stress in brick-and-mortar structured composites via gradient modulus for enhanced mechanical properties

Inspired by nature,various biomimetic materials have been synthesized for enhanced mechanical properties,among which composites with brick-and-mortar structures attract the most *** such bio-inspired composites,the matrix layer mainly functions to transfer load between bricks through shearing,while the shear stress in the matrix is not uniform but highly concentrated on the interface ends,which tends to initiate cracks and evoke interface delamination in *** enhance the composites’resistance to interface delamination,we propose to homogenize the shear stress by adopting a matrix with a gradient modulus.A theoretical solution to the optimal gradient modulus of the matrix layer is obtained,followed by computational ***,composites with such functionally graded matrices are further demonstrated to possess higher elastic limits,higher resilience,and flaw tolerance than the uniform *** results of this paper should be of great value to the design and synthesis of advanced structural materials for superior mechanical performance.

Damage degradation mechanism and macro-meso structural response of mudstone after water wetting

Mechanical behavior of 2G NPR bolt anchored rock samples under static disturbance loading
