Investigation of material composition,design,and performance of open-graded asphalt mixtures for semi-flexible pavement:A comprehensive experimental study

The primary goal of this study is the design and construction of semi-flexible pavement(SFP)mixture in accordance with the engineering and mechanical *** study involves the use of a range of gradation curves,air void contents,cellulose and synthesized fibers,and neat and modified asphalt binders to prepare the open-graded asphalt(OGA)*** analyze the characteristics of these mixtures,a variety of test,namely binder drainage,semi-circular bending(SCB),Cantabro,wheel tracking,indirect tensile strength(ITS),and permeability tests were ***,to analyze the prepared grouting material,flexural strength,compressive strength,and fluidity tests were *** the final stage,SFP was compared to HMA in terms of engineering characteristics and *** to the results,SFP was more resistant to skid,rutting,fire,and moisture damage,while HMA had a better performance in fracture tests,including SCB *** to the results of the mechanical performance tests conducted on OGA mixtures,the highest and lowest values for air void content to achieve the highest mechanical performance level were 30%-35%and 25%,***,based on the laboratory results,it was determined that the required void ratio for constructing OGA mixtures was 24%-26%based on the bitumen type and fibers amount in the ***,SFP mixture can be regarded as a viable alternative to common pavements thanks to its high resistance to rutting and moisture damage,long freezing-thawing fatigue life,and adequate fire and skid resistance.

The anti-neoplastic effects of metformin modulate the acquired phenotype of fbroblast cells in the breast cancer-normal fbroblast co-culture system

Intracellular communications between breast cancer and fibroblast cells were reported to be involved in cancer proliferation,growth,and therapy *** hallmarks of cancer fibroblast interactions,consisting of caveolin 1(Cav1)and mono-carboxylate ransporter 4(MCT4)(metabolic coupling markers),along with IL-6,TGFB,and lactate secretion,are considered robust biomarkers predicting recurrence and *** order to promote a novel phenotype in normal fibroblasts,we predicted that breast cancer cells could be able to cause loss of Cavl and increase of MCT4,as well as elevate IL 6 and TGF in nearby nomal *** created a co culture model using breast cancer(4T1)and normal fibroblast(NIH3T3)cell lines cultured under specific experimental conditions in order to directly test our ***,we show that long-term co-culture of breast cancer cells and normal fibroblasts promotes loss of Cavl and gain of MCT4 in adjacent fibroblasts and increase lactate *** results were validated using the monoculture of each group separately as a *** this system,we show that me tformin inhibits IL-6 and TGFB secretion and re expresses Cavl in both ***,MCT4 and lactate stayed high after treatment with *** conclusion,our work shows that co-culture with breast cancer cells may cause signifcant alterations in the phenotype and secretion of normal ***,however,may change this state and affect fibroblasts'acquired ***,mitochondrial inhibition by metformin after 8 days of treatment,signi ficantly hinders tumor growth in mouse model of breast cancer.

The present research studies the relationship between place attachment and the perception of form’s visual quality in fifteen outstanding contemporary iranian architectural cultural *** study puts forward the hypothesis that there is a correlation between the quality of building form and the sense of place attachment,in the sense that creating high visual quality through enhancing the quality of building form increases citizens’initial satisfaction with and subsequent attachment to the *** visual quality influences people’s experience of the environment and improves the quality of *** attachment highlights how people,on a personal level,recreate a sense of place for *** present study adopts the descriptive-analytical method as its theoretical framework and the survey as the empirical *** were developed using the Likert scale and distributed among experts and ordinary *** analysis using SPSS and the adoption of descriptive-analytical statistics,correlation analysis,and regression showed the relationship among the characteristics of *** results show a positive correlation between form and place attachment mediated through visual quality,and they are causal conditions for one *** addition,only some of the buildings under study evoke the same level of place attachment.

Predicting density log from well log using machine learning techniques and heuristic optimization algorithm:A comparative study

In the petroleum industry,the analysis of petrophysical parameters is critical for efficient reservoir management,production optimization,development strategies,and accurate hydrocarbon reserve *** recent years,the integration of machine learning methodologies has revolutionized the field,addressing challenges in geology,geophysics,and petroleum engineering,even when confronted with limited or imperfect *** study focuses on the prediction of density logs,a pivotal factor in evaluating reservoir hydrocarbon *** is important to note that during well logging operations,log data for specific depths of interest may be missing or incorrect,presenting a significant *** tackle this issue,we employed the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)and Artificial Neural Networks(ANN)in combination with advanced optimization algorithms,including Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO),Imperialist Competitive Algorithms(ICA),and Genetic Algorithms(GA).These methods exhibit promising performance in predicting density logs from gamma-ray,neutron,sonic,and photoelectric log ***,our results highlight that the Genetic Algorithms-based Artificial Neural Network(GA-ANN)approach outperforms all other methods,achieving an impressive Mean Squared Error(MSE)of *** comparison,ANFIS records an MSE of 0.0015,ICA-ANN 0.0090,PSO-ANN 0.0093,and ANN 0.0183.

Changes in climatic conditions drive variations in arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi diversity and composition in semi-arid oak forests

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)play a vital role in plant productivity and ecosystem ***,their responses to abiotic factors(i.e.,climate,physiography,and soil properties)are unknown,especially across climatic gradients and slope aspects in arid and semi-arid *** this study,using 60 composite soil samples,direct and indirect effects of climate factors and slope aspects on AMF diversity,composition and spore density were *** findings indicate that climate has a more direct influ-ence on soil properties(P<0.001)in comparison to slope aspect(P=0.449).In contrast,climate significantly affected AMF diversity and composition,with the highest diversity in dryer *** pH had the highest correlation with different facets of AMF *** equation modeling(SEM)indicated that only a small part of the variation in AMF diversity and spore density could be explained by climate characteristics,slope aspect and soil *** on SEM results,climate was the most important determinant of AMF diversity and spore density;slope aspect had a less critical *** outputs suggest that variations in AMF diversity are derived by the direct effects of climate and the indirect effect of soil chemical *** addition,with increasing dryness,sporulation and AMF diversity increased.

Tracing suspended and bed sediments during high and low water periods using geochemical characteristics-Case study:Vazrood watershed,northern iran

Complete and comprehensive information about sediment dynamic and identification of hotspots of sediment production and transport are necessary for understanding the erosion processes and increasing the efficiency of soil and water conservation *** studies used the sediment fingerprint techniques to investigate the contribution of different sources in suspended and bed sediment yield of the ***,the contribution of various land use/land covers in suspended and bed sediment yield for the great Caspian Sea basin is in an aura of ambiguity and the present study was conducted to gather information about an important part of this area in northern iran,where rangelands are located upstream of Hyrcanian forests and dense agricultural lands are located *** surface soil of different land use/land covers including forest,rangeland,agriculture and streambank lands were sampled in 30 *** and bed sediments were sampled in the watershed outlet in two high and low water *** characteristics of soil and sediment samples containing 59 elements were measured using ICP-OES GBC *** reliable and suitable tracers from 59 elements were then selected using Range test,Kruskal-Wallis and Discriminant Function Analysis,respectively,in FingerPro package of R *** results showed that for suspended sediment,streambank and rangeland had the highest contributions of 86.2%and 47.5%,respectively,in two high and low water *** bed sediment,in two high and low water periods,rangeland and streambank had the highest contributions of 73.8%and 84.4%,*** use change and especially human activities such as agriculture,road construction and development of residential areas along the main river riparian zone has led to a significant increase in suspended and bed sediments.

Investigating the impact of the universal function of the nuclear proximity potential in heavy-ion fusion cross sections

The fusion barriers and cross sections of 15 colliding systems with 320≤Z_(1)Z_(2)≤1512 are investigated in detail to understand the influence of the universal function of proximity potential formalism in the heavy-ion fusion *** realize this goal,we select three versions of the phenomenological proximity potentials,including Prox.77,Zhang 2013,and Guo 2013,to calculate the nucleus-nucleus *** experimental fusion cross sections for the selected reactions are analyzed using the standard coupled-channel calculations,including couplings to the low-lying 2^(+)and 3^(-)states in the target and *** calculated results show that the universal functions of the Guo 2013 and Prox.77 models provide the lowest and highest fusion barriers,*** addition,it is found that the height of the fusion barriers is enhanced by increasing the mass number of the projectile from light to heavy *** highest sensitivity to the mass number of the projectile belongs to the results of Prox.77.A discussion is also presented on the influence of the universal function on the radial behavior of the interaction potential in the allowed region for overlapping *** results reveal that the best fit to the experimental data of the fusion cross sections for the reactions involving light and medium nuclei is obtained using the universal function of the Zhang 2013 *** the heavier systems,the results of the Guo 2013 model at sub-barrier energies provide a good description of the available data.
