Mastering air combat game with deep reinforcement learning

Reinforcement learning has been applied to air combat problems in recent years,and the idea of curriculum learning is often used for reinforcement learning,but traditional curriculum learning suffers from the problem of plasticity loss in neural networks.Plasticity loss is the difficulty of learning new knowledge after the network has converged.To this end,we propose a motivational curriculum learning distributed proximal policy optimization(MCLDPPO)algorithm,through which trained agents can significantly outperform the predictive game tree and mainstream reinforcement learning methods.The motivational curriculum learning is designed to help the agent gradually improve its combat ability by observing the agent's unsatisfactory performance and providing appropriate rewards as a guide.Furthermore,a complete tactical maneuver is encapsulated based on the existing air combat knowledge,and through the flexible use of these maneuvers,some tactics beyond human knowledge can be realized.In addition,we designed an interruption mechanism for the agent to increase the frequency of decisionmaking when the agent faces an emergency.When the number of threats received by the agent changes,the current action is interrupted in order to reacquire observations and make decisions again.Using the interruption mechanism can significantly improve the performance of the agent.To simulate actual air combat better,we use digital twin technology to simulate real air battles and propose a parallel battlefield mechanism that can run multiple simulation environments simultaneously,effectively improving data throughput.The experimental results demonstrate that the agent can fully utilize the situational information to make reasonable decisions and provide tactical adaptation in the air combat,verifying the effectiveness of the algorithmic framework proposed in this paper.

Classification of aviation incident causes using LGBM with improved cross-validation

aviation accidents are currently one of the leading causes of significant injuries and deaths worldwide. This entices researchers to investigate aircraft safety using data analysis approaches based on an advanced machine learning algorithm.To assess aviation safety and identify the causes of incidents, a classification model with light gradient boosting machine (LGBM)based on the aviation safety reporting system (ASRS) has been developed. It is improved by k-fold cross-validation with hybrid sampling model (HSCV), which may boost classification performance and maintain data balance. The results show that employing the LGBM-HSCV model can significantly improve accuracy while alleviating data imbalance. Vertical comparison with other cross-validation (CV) methods and lateral comparison with different fold times comprise the comparative approach. Aside from the comparison, two further CV approaches based on the improved method in this study are discussed:one with a different sampling and folding order, and the other with more CV. According to the assessment indices with different methods, the LGBMHSCV model proposed here is effective at detecting incident causes. The improved model for imbalanced data categorization proposed may serve as a point of reference for similar data processing, and the model’s accurate identification of civil aviation incident causes can assist to improve civil aviation safety.

QAR Data Imputation Using Generative Adversarial Network with Self-Attention Mechanism

Quick Access Recorder(QAR),an important device for storing data from various flight parameters,contains a large amount of valuable data and comprehensively records the real state of the airline flight.However,the recorded data have certain missing values due to factors,such as weather and equipment anomalies.These missing values seriously affect the analysis of QAR data by aeronautical engineers,such as airline flight scenario reproduction and airline flight safety status assessment.Therefore,imputing missing values in the QAR data,which can further guarantee the flight safety of airlines,is crucial.QAR data also have multivariate,multiprocess,and temporal features.Therefore,we innovatively propose the imputation models A-AEGAN("A"denotes attention mechanism,"AE"denotes autoencoder,and"GAN"denotes generative adversarial network)and SA-AEGAN("SA"denotes self-attentive mechanism)for missing values of QAR data,which can be effectively applied to QAR data.Specifically,we apply an innovative generative adversarial network to impute missing values from QAR data.The improved gated recurrent unit is then introduced as the neural unit of GAN,which can successfully capture the temporal relationships in QAR data.In addition,we modify the basic structure of GAN by using an autoencoder as the generator and a recurrent neural network as the discriminator.The missing values in the QAR data are imputed by using the adversarial relationship between generator and discriminator.We introduce an attention mechanism in the autoencoder to further improve the capability of the proposed model to capture the features of QAR data.Attention mechanisms can maintain the correlation among QAR data and improve the capability of the model to impute missing data.Furthermore,we improve the proposed model by integrating a self-attention mechanism to further capture the relationship between different parameters within the QAR data.Experimental results on real datasets demonstrate that the model can reasonably impute the missing values in QAR data wi

Detection of Turbulence Anomalies Using a Symbolic Classifier Algorithm in Airborne Quick Access Record(QAR)Data Analysis

As the risks associated with air turbulence are intensified by climate change and the growth of the aviation industry,it has become imperative to monitor and mitigate these threats to ensure civil aviation safety.The eddy dissipation rate(EDR)has been established as the standard metric for quantifying turbulence in civil aviation.This study aims to explore a universally applicable symbolic classification approach based on genetic programming to detect turbulence anomalies using quick access recorder(QAR)data.The detection of atmospheric turbulence is approached as an anomaly detection problem.Comparative evaluations demonstrate that this approach performs on par with direct EDR calculation methods in identifying turbulence events.Moreover,comparisons with alternative machine learning techniques indicate that the proposed technique is the optimal methodology currently available.In summary,the use of symbolic classification via genetic programming enables accurate turbulence detection from QAR data,comparable to that with established EDR approaches and surpassing that achieved with machine learning algorithms.This finding highlights the potential of integrating symbolic classifiers into turbulence monitoring systems to enhance civil aviation safety amidst rising environmental and operational hazards.

Visual Semantic Segmentation Based on Few/Zero-Shot Learning:An Overview

Visual semantic segmentation aims at separating a visual sample into diverse blocks with specific semantic attributes and identifying the category for each block,and it plays a crucial role in environmental perception.Conventional learning-based visual semantic segmentation approaches count heavily on largescale training data with dense annotations and consistently fail to estimate accurate semantic labels for unseen categories.This obstruction spurs a craze for studying visual semantic segmentation with the assistance of few/zero-shot learning.The emergence and rapid progress of few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation make it possible to learn unseen categories from a few labeled or even zero-labeled samples,which advances the extension to practical applications.Therefore,this paper focuses on the recently published few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation methods varying from 2D to 3D space and explores the commonalities and discrepancies of technical settlements under different segmentation circumstances.Specifically,the preliminaries on few/zeroshot visual semantic segmentation,including the problem definitions,typical datasets,and technical remedies,are briefly reviewed and discussed.Moreover,three typical instantiations are involved to uncover the interactions of few/zero-shot learning with visual semantic segmentation,including image semantic segmentation,video object segmentation,and 3D segmentation.Finally,the future challenges of few/zero-shot visual semantic segmentation are discussed.

Research on MBSE Application for Radio Navigation System

The rapid development of concepts and technologies for civil aircraft navigation systems has put forward higher requirements for agile iteration and integrated design verification in the research and development(R&D)process.Traditional document based system engineering(DBSE)methods have gradually become inadequate.Model based system engineering(MBSE)is fully based on user′s needs and is carried out from top to bottom,in line with the concept of forward design.It is gradually being applied in the development of civil aircraft systems.This article focuses on the civil aircraft radio navigation system and proposes a complete system engineering solution based on models,from system design and development to validation.Guided by the Arcadia methodology,with Capella modeling tool,Simulink simulation tool,and system validation tool,the complete R&D process from design and development to testing and validation was achieved through model construction,code generation,and testing validation.A radio navigation station selection optimization method based on machine learning was proposed,and results had good signal quality and persistence.The verification result of Beijing⁃Shanghai flight route shows MBSE method practiced in this article can ensure the feasibility of the entire process of radio navigation system development,as well as the rationality of tuning and positioning result.By automatically generating code to form a universal functional module,an optimization method that integrates different radio navigation station selection strategies is achieved,providing new ideas for the development and design of radio navigation systems.

BDSec:Security Authentication Protocol for BeiDou-Ⅱ Civil Navigation Message

Due to the lack of authentication mechanism in BeiDou navigation satellite system(BDS),BD-Ⅱ civil navigation message(BDⅡ-CNAV) are vulnerable to spoofing attack and replay attack.To solve this problem,we present a security authentication protocol,called as BDSec,which is designed by using china’s cryptography Shangyong Mima(SM) series algorithms,such as SM2/4/9 and Zu Chongzhi(ZUC)algorithm.In BDSec protocol,both of BDⅡ-CNAV and signature information are encrypted using the SM4 algorithm(Symmetric encryption mechanism).The encrypted result is used as the subject authentication information.BDSec protocol applies SM9 algorithm(Identity-based cryptography mechanism) to protect the integrity of the BDⅡ-CNAV,adopts the SM2 algorithm(Public key cryptosystem) to guarantee the confidentiality of the important session information,and uses the ZUC algorithm(Encryption and integrity algorithm) to verify the integrity of the message authentication serial number and initial information and the information in authentication initialization sub-protocol respectively.The results of the SVO logic reasoning and performance analysis show that BDSec protocol meets security requirements for the dual user identity authentication in BDS and can realize the security authentication of BDⅡ-CNAV.

Feedback linearization and equivalent-disturbance compensation control strategy for piezoelectric stage

Piezoelectric stages use piezoelectric actuators and flexure hinges as driving and amplifying mechanisms,respectively.These systems have high positioning accuracy and high-frequency responses,and they are widely used in various precision/ultra-precision positioning fields.However,the main challenge with these devices is the inherent hysteresis nonlinearity of piezoelectric actuators,which seriously affects the tracking accuracy of a piezoelectric stage.Inspired by this challenge,in this work,we developed a Hammerstein model to describe the hysteresis nonlinearity of a piezoelectric stage.In particular,in our proposed scheme,a feedback-linearization algorithm is used to eliminate the static hysteresis nonlinearity.In addition,a composite controller based on equivalent-disturbance compensation was designed to counteract model uncertainties and external disturbances.An analysis of the stability of a closed-loop system based on this feedback-linearization algorithm and composite controller was performed,and this was followed by extensive comparative experiments using a piezoelectric stage developed in the laboratory.The experimental results confirmed that the feedback-linearization algorithm and the composite controller offer improved linearization and trajectory-tracking performance.

Risk evaluation for the task transfer of an aircraft maintenance program based on a multielement connection number

This paper proposes a framework for evaluating the efficacy and suitability of maintenance programs with a focus on quantitative risk assessment in the domain of aircraft maintenance task transfer. The analysis is anchored in the principles of Maintenance Steering Group-3 (MSG-3) logic decision paradigms. The paper advances a holistic risk assessment index architecture tailored for the task transfer of maintenance programs. Utilizing the analytic network process (ANP), the study quantifies the weight interrelationships among diverse variables, incorporating expert-elicited subjective weighting. A multielement connection number-based evaluative model is employed to characterize decision-specific data, thereby facilitating the quantification of task transfer-associated risk through the appraisal of set-pair potentials. Moreover, the paper conducts a temporal risk trend analysis founded on partial connection numbers of varying orders. This analytical construct serves to streamline the process of risk assessment pertinent to maintenance program task transfer. The empirical component of this research, exemplified through a case study of the Boeing 737NG aircraft maintenance program, corroborates the methodological robustness and pragmatic applicability of the proposed framework in the quantification and analysis of mission transfer risk.

The Stokes-Einstein-Debye relation in ortho-terphenyl liquid

The Stokes–Einstein–Debye(SED)relation is proposed to be broken down in supercooled liquids by many studies.However,conclusions are usually drawn by testing some variants of the SED relation rather than its original formula.In this work,the rationality of the SED relation and its variants is examined by performing molecular dynamics simulations with the Lewis–Wahnstrom model of ortho-terphenyl(OTP).The results indicate the original SED relation is valid for OTP but the three variants are all broken down.The inconsistency between the SED relation and its variants is analyzed from the heterogeneous dynamics,the adopted assumptions and approximations as well as the interactions among molecules.Therefore,care should be taken when employing the variants to judge the validity of the SED relation in supercooled liquids.
