The method of principal component analysis was applied to systematical research on the soil multi-media environment, including soil, surface water, ground water, waterbody sediment and agricultural crops, as well as pollution-inducing wastewater, mullock (or waste ore) and slag in the periphery of a large-sized Pb-Zn mining and smelting plant in a karst area of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous Region. The results revealed that soils in the area studied have been heavily polluted by Cd, Zn, Pb and Hg, and the levels of these metals in the samples of agricultural crop greatly exceed the standards. The above-mentioned pollutants exist in all soil-multi-media environments. The mullock, slag, wastewater, surface water, ground water, soil, and agricultural crops constitute a composite ecological chain. Therefore, the improper disposal of mullock and slag, and the use of polluted wastewater for agricultural irrigation are the main causes of soil pollution. Heavy metals in the soil have three transition progresses: point (improved soil with slag, ground water inflow plot), linear (river transition) and non-point transition (regional pollution by slag) patterns, and the tailing yard is the most important locus for heavy metals to release into the environment.

Case Studies on an Approach to Multiple autonomous Vehicle Motion Coordination

This paper conducts a series of case studies on a novel Simultaneous Path and Motion Planning (SiPaMoP) approach [1] to multiple autonomous or Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) motion coordination in bidirectional networks. The SiPaMoP approach plans collision-free paths for vehicles based on the principle of shortest path by dynamically changing the vehicles’ paths,traveling speeds or waiting times,whichever gives the shortest traveling time. It integrates path planning,collision avoidance and motion planning into a comprehensive model and optimizes the vehicles’ path and motion to minimize the completion time of a set of tasks. Five case studies,i.e.,head-on collision avoidance,catching-up collision avoidance,buffer node generation and collision avoidance,prioritybased motion coordination,and safety distance based planning,are presented. The results demonstrated that the method can effectively plan the path and motion for a team of autonomous vehicles or AGVs,and solve the problems of traffic congestion and collision under various conditions.

Epidemiological features of four human plague cases in the Inner Mongolia autonomous Region, China in 2019

This study aims to investigate cases of human plague in the Inner Mongolia autonomous Region (IMAR), China, and to inform the development of plague prevention and control strategies. On 12th of November 2019, two herdsmen from Sunitezuo Banner, Xilingol League were diagnosed with pneumonic plague in Beijing, China. On November 16th, one resident of Xianghuang Banner, Xilingol League was diagnosed with bubonic plague in Huade County Hospital, Ulanqab, China. On 27th of November, one resident of Siziwang Banner was diagnosed with bubonic plague. In total, 78 close contacts were monitored over a period, but none of them developed symptoms. Plague outbreaks in animals had been reported in Sunitezuo Banner, Xianghuang Banner, and Siziwang Banner in 2019. Two of the four cases were related (husband and wife), but not the other two. All the cases may be associated with contact with rodents (hare) or infected fleas. The cases highlight the importance of early identification of plague cases in humans in order to stop further infection. This demonstrates the value of monitoring and ongoing vigilance on endemic diseases, the importance of updating medical training and raising public awareness about infectious diseases that even have not been observed over decades.

Development of an Inexpensive Decentralized autonomous Aquatic Craft Swarm System for Ocean Exploration

Swarm robotics in maritime engineering is a promising approach characterized by large numbers of relatively small and inexpensive autonomous aquatic crafts (AACs) to monitor marine environments. Compared with a single, large aquatic manned or unmanned surface vehicle, a highly distributed aquatic swarm system with several AACs features advantages in numerous real-world maritime missions, and its natural potential is qualified for new classes of tasks that uniformly feature low cost and high efficiency through time. This article develops an inexpensive AAC based on an embedded-systemcompanion computer and open-source autopilot, providing a verification platform for education and research on swarm algorithm on water surfaces. A topology communication network, including an inner communication network to exchange information among AACs and an external communication network for monitoring the state of the AAC Swarm System (AACSS), was designed based on the topology built into the Xbee units for the AACSS. In the emergence control network, the transmitter and receiver were coupled to distribute or recover the AAC. The swarm motion behaviors in AAC were resolved into the capabilities of go-to-waypoint and path following, which can be accomplished by two uncoupled controllers: speed controller and heading controller. The good performance of velocity and heading controllers in go-to-waypoint was proven in a series of simulations. Path following was achieved by tracking a set of ordered waypoints in the go-to-waypoint. Finally, a sea trial conducted at the China National Deep Sea Center successfully demonstrated the motion capability of the AAC. The sea trial results showed that the AAC is suited to carry out environmental monitoring tasks by efficiently covering the desired path, allowing for redundancy in the data collection process and tolerating the individual AACs’ path-following offset caused by winds and waves.

BACKGROUND： Intracerebral hemorrhage（ICH） and coronary heart disease （CHD） have the same pathological base, atherosclerosis, and the similar risk factors,such as smoking ,drinking, hypertension, hyperlipemia, diabetes mellitus, etc; but the distributions of two diseases are very different in the populations. This may be related to the exposure of risk factors and different effects of risk factors on two diseases. OBJECTIVE： To analyze the distribution difference of risk factors for ICH and CHD in the populations of Tongliao city of Nei Monggol autonomous Region. DESIGN： Retrospective analysis. SETTING： School of Radiation Medicine and Public Health, Soochow University; Tongliao Hospital, Nei Monggol autonomous Region. PARTICIPANTS： Random sampling was used to select 6 hospitals from 10 hospitals affiliated to Tongliao City of Nei Monggol autonomous Region. Totally 1 672 medical records of patients with ICH and 2 195 medical records of patients with CHD admitted to Department of Neurology and Department of Cardiovascular Internal Medicine of above-mentioned 6 hospitals between January 2003 and December 2005 were collected according to the investigation need. METHODS： The subjects, whose medical records were involved, were performed retrospective analysis with pre-prepared questionnaire ＂Stroke and Coronary Heart Disease Epidemiologic Questionnaire＂. The main contents included： ①Social demography condition： The distributions of gender, age, nationality, etc. ②Previous history of disease： hypertension, diabetes mellitus, etc. ③Related risk factors： systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking, drinking and glucose （GLU）. The database of Epidata was transformed to SPSS database. Single-and multiple-factor non-conditional Logistic regression analysis were performed on the data, and OR value and 95% CI were calculated.
