A three-dimensional feature extraction-based method for coal cleat characterization using X-ray μCT and its application to a Bowen Basin coal specimen

Antibiotics in poultry feed to boost growth performance are becoming increasingly contentious due to concerns over antimicrobial resistance *** oils(EOs),as natural,plant-derived compounds,have demonstrated antimicrobial and antioxidant *** may potentially improve poultry health and growth performance when included in poultry ***,the incorporation of EOs as nutritional additives is hindered by their high volatility,low water solubility,poor intestinal absorption,and sensitivity to environmental ***,nanoencapsulation strategies using nanoformulations have emerged as a potential solution to these challenges,improving the stability and bioavailability of EOs,and enabling targeted delivery in poultry *** review provides an overview of the antioxidant and antibacterial properties of EOs,the current limitations of their applications in poultry feed,and the recent advancements in nano-engineering to overcome these ***,we outline the potential future research direction on EO nanoformulations,emphasizing their promising role in advancing sustainable poultry nutrition.

Dietary lecithin improves feed efficiency without impacting meat quality in immunocastrated male pigs and gilts fed a summer ration containing added fat

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sex and dietary lecithin on growth performance,meat quality, muscle collagen content and gene expression of key genes involved in collagen synthesis in finisher pigs.A total of 256 pigs(Large White × Landrace) were allotted to a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement involving sex(gilt or immunocastrated [IC] male) and dietary treatment(0 or 5 g/kg of dietary lecithin).All diets were formulated to contain 4.6% tallow with relatively high total fat of 6.3%.After 5 weeks of dietary treatment, pigs were slaughtered and Longissimus dorsi muscle was obtained for evaluation of meat quality and collagen *** abdominis muscle was analysed for gene expression of key genes involved in collagen synthesis namely, type Ⅰ(a1) procollagen(COL1A1), type Ⅲ(a1) procollagen(COL3A1), a-subunit of prolyl 4-hydroxylase(P4H), lysyl oxidase and metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1).The results showed that lecithin improved feed efficiency of all pigs(P 0.05).Lecithin also had no effect on meat compression, shear force, collagen content and gene expression(P > 0.05).Immunocastrated male had higher growth rate and increased COL1 A1 expression than ***, sex had no effect on fat depth at the P2 site(65 mm from the midline over the last rib), collagen content and expression of other genes(P > 0.05).In conclusion, lecithin improved feed efficiency in finishing pigs without impacting pork ***, inclusion of lecithin in diets containing high amount of tallow during the summer period could be beneficial.

Tuning electronic properties of cobalt phthalocyanines for oxygen reduction and evolution reactions

Metal–phthalocyanines are a class of catalytically active materials promising in energy conversion and storage fields(e.g.,electrocatalysis).However,understanding and controlling the electrochemical properties in metal-phthalocyanine systems is ***,we elucidate the electrocatalytic origins of a series of cobalt-phthalocyanine molecular catalysts and finetune their electronic properties at the atomic level,both experimentally and *** interactions between the cobalt center and the local coordination environment are regulated by introducing either electron-donating or electron-withdrawing groups on the phthalocyanine ligand,and the spin-orbit splitting of cobalt is increased by~0.15 eV compared with the nonsubstituted ***,the aminated cobalt phthalocyanine-based electrocatalysts exhibit low free energies in the ratedetermining steps of the oxygen reduction(-1.68 eV)and oxygen evolution reactions(0.37 eV).This contributes to the high electrocatalytic activity(e.g.,a halfwave potential of 0.84 V and an overpotential of 0.30 V at 10 mAcm^(-2)),featuring a high selectivity of a four-electron pathway(i.e.,a negligible by-product of hydrogen peroxide).These catalysts also exhibit exceptional kinetic current density(Tafel slope of 100 mV dec^(-1))in oxygen reduction reactions,in addition to a superior power density(158 mWcm^(-2))and a high cycling stability(>1,300 cycles)in Zn-air batteries,outperforming the commercial Pt/C and/or RuO2counterparts.

Impact of Low-temperature Storage on Volatile Flavor Compounds in Prepared pork Products

[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the dynamic changes of volatile flavor compounds in prepared pork during storage at different low-temperature conditions.[Methods]Prepared pork was stored at 4,-4 and-18℃.The volatile flavor compounds of prepared pork were determined by solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(SPME-GC-MS)at days 0,7,14,21 and 28,and relative odor activity value(OAV),principal component analysis(PCA)and cluster analysis(CA)were combined to analyze changes in volatile flavor compounds of prepared pork during storage.[Results]The total number of volatile flavor compounds gradually decreased with the prolongation of the storage period,and OAV analysis identified 22 key flavor compounds(OAV≥1).The results of PCA and CA showed that 2-methyl-1-butanol,1-octen-3-ol,linalool,cineole,hexanal and nonanal were the main key flavor components,and the degree of flavor degradation was low under both superchilling and freezing *** 28 days of storage,the alcohol content in the chilling group was significantly higher than other two groups,and the overall content of volatile flavor compounds was also significantly higher than other two groups,indicating that the-4℃chilling storage was more favorable for maintaining the overall flavor of prepared pork.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical basis for finding a better storage method for prepared meat products.

An optimally functioning gastrointestinal tract(GIT) clearly is of importance to the overall metabolism,physiology, disease status and performance of pigs of all stages of growth and ***, the‘health’ of the GIT(‘gut health’) has attracted much attention despite the lack of a clear definition to the term or its aetiology, although in broad terms, ‘gut health’ encompasses a number of physiological and functional features including nutrient digestion and absorption, host metabolism and energy generation, a stable and appropriate microbiota/microbiome, defence mechanisms including barrier function and mucosal immune mechanisms, and the interactions between these components.‘Gut health’ in the newlyweaned(young) pig is of obvious interest due to changes in GIT structure and function associated with the post-weaning transition, and more recently to the upsurge in interest in different feed additives as dietary alternatives/replacements caused by bans/reductions in certain antimicrobial compounds being available in some parts of the *** the presence of enteric disease(s) after weaning, a deterioration in ‘gut health’ may be synonymous to the overall health of the pig, and although some direct relationships can be drawn between pig performance and efficiency and a ‘healthy' GIT, sometimes this connection is subtler and less obvious, especially in the absence of overt enteric disease(s).The factors and conditions involved in ‘gut health’ are multifactorial, complex, often poorly described and sometimes incorrectly interpreted,although it is evident that perturbations of the GIT can cause an imbalance and disturb the generalized *** addition to any enteric diseases or conditions that might arise as a result of these disturbances, other influences will also impact such as the responses occurring in the GIT in the period immediately after weaning, any changes that might occur after a change in diet, and(or) disruptions to meal patterns and hence

Prediction of Low-Energy Building Energy Consumption Based on Genetic BP Algorithm

Combined with the energy consumption data of individual buildings in the logistics group of Yangtze University,the analysis model scheme of energy consumption of individual buildings in the university is studied by using Back Propagation(BP)neural network to solve nonlinear problems and have the ability of global approximation and *** analyzing the influence of different uses,different building surfaces and different energysaving schemes on the change of building energy consumption,the grey correlation method is used to determine the main influencing factors affecting each building energy consumption,including uses,building surfaces and energy-saving schemes,which are used as the input of the model and the building energy consumption as the output of the model,so as to establish the building energy consumption analysis model based on BP neural ***,in practical application,BP neural network has the defects of slow convergence and easy to fall into local *** view of this,this paper uses genetic algorithm to optimize the weight and threshold of BP neural network,completes the improvement of various building energy consumption analysis models,and realizes the qualitative analysis of building energy *** model verification results show that the viscosity of the building energy consumption analysis model based on genetic algorithm improved BP neural network algorithm(GABP)in this paper is relatively high,which is more accurate than the results of the traditional BP neural network model,and the relative error of the analysis model is reduced from 11.56%to 8.13%,which proves that the GABP can be better suitable for the study of school building energy consumption analysis model,It is applied to the prediction of building energy consumption,which lays a foundation for the realization of carbon neutralization in the South expansion plan of Yangtze University.

However, it is also important to understand that a person＇s creed-their principles and beliefs-has a tremendous influence on the way in which they will practice business. In recent decades, for example, the fraudulent business practices of major corporations such as Adelphia, Enron, Dynergy, Global Crossing, Merrill Lynch, Qwest, Tyco, and WorldCom, became international news. One after one, major world businesses, which were widely trusted and respected, toppled, leaving in their quake millions of ruined lives. Seemingly respectable and successful business practices were guilty of behaving with criminal intentions; consequently appearing, in the opinion of many observers, little more than common thieves As such, the philosophy of management, especially in relation to Creed vs. Greed, has become increasingly important within today＇s business world.

Modeling and Prediction for the thrust on EPB TBMs under different geological conditions by considering mechanical decoupling

EPB TBMs(Earth pressure balance Tunneling Boring Machines) are extensively used in tunneling constructions because of its high efficiency and low disturbance on structures above ground. It is critically significant to predict the thrust acting on TBMs under different geological conditions for both the design of power system and the control of tunneling process. The interaction between the cutterhead and the ground is the core of excavation, through which geological conditions determine the thrust re-quirement combined with operating status and structural characteristics. This paper conducted a mechanical decoupling analysis to obtain a basic expression of the cutterhead-ground interactive stress. Then more engineering factors(such as cutterhead topological structure, underground overburden, thrusts on other parts, etc.) were further considered to establish a predicting model for the total thrust acting on a machine during tunneling. Combined with three subway projects under different geological conditions in China, the model was verified and used to analyze how geological, operating and structural parameters influence the acting thrust.

Blast waveform tailoring using controlled venting in blast simulators and shock tubes

A critical challenge of any blast simulation facility is in producing the widest possible pressure-impulse range for matching against equivalent high-explosive *** tubes and blast simulators are often constrained with the lack of effective ways to control blast wave profiles and as a result have a limited performance *** wave shaping techniques employed in some facilities are reviewed but often necessitate extensive geometric modifications,inadvertently cause flow anomalies,and/or are only applicable under very specific *** paper investigates controlled venting as an expedient way for waveforms to be tuned without requiring extensive modifications to the driver or existing geometry and could be widely applied by existing and future blast simulation and shock tube *** use of controlled venting is demonstrated experimentally using the Advanced Blast Simulator(shock tube)at the australian National Facility of Physical Blast Simulation and via numerical flow simulations with Computational Fluid *** venting is determined as an effective method for mitigating the impact of re-reflected waves within the blast *** control method also allows for the adjustment of parameters such as tuning the peak overpressure,the positive phase duration,and modifying the magnitude of the negative phase and the secondary shock of the blast *** paper is concluded with an illustration of the potential expanded performance range of the australian blast simulation facility when controlled venting for blast waveform tailoring as presented in this paper is applied.
