Rechargeable sodium–oxygen(Na-O_(2))and sodium–carbon dioxide(Na-CO_(2))batteries have attracted intensive research attention in recent years owing to their advantages of high theoretical energy density,modest cost,abundance of sodium resources,and promising potential for achieving real sodium–air batteries in large-scale energy storage ***,current research on Na-O_(2)and Na-CO_(2)batteries is facing enormous challenges,such as low energy efficiency and limited cycle life,which are restricting their progress at the initial ***,understanding their working principles,and the chemical and electrochemical reactions of the electrodes is indispensable to achieve their practical application and even the goal of true sodium–air *** review aims to provide an overview of the research developments and future perspectives on Na-O_(2)and Na-CO_(2)batteries,which include the major aspects,such as working mechanisms,air cathode materials design strategies,sodium anode protection,and electrolyte ***,the remaining issues and future research directions are also thoroughly discussed and presented.

X-ray diffraction investigation of amorphous calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite under ultra-high hydrostatic pressure

The changes in the crystal structures of synthetically prepared amorphous calcium phosphate（ACP） and hydroxyapatite（HAP） in water（1：1 mass ratio） were studied by synchrotron X-ray diffraction（XRD） under ultra-high hydrostatic pressures as high as 2.34 GPa for ACP and 4 GPa for HAP. At ambient pressure, the XRD patterns of the ACP and HAP samples in capillary tubes and their environmental scanning electron micrographs indicated amorphous and crystalline characteristics for ACP and HAP, respectively. At pressures greater than 0.25 GPa, an additional broad peak was observed in the XRD pattern of the ACP phase, indicating a partial phase transition from an amorphous phase to a new high-pressure amorphous phase. The peak areas and positions of the ACP phase, as obtained through fitting of the experimental data, indicated that the ACP exhibited increased pseudo-crystalline behavior at pressures greater than 0.96 GPa. Conversely, no structural changes were observed for the HAP phase up to the highest applied pressure of 4 GPa. For HAP, a unit-cell reduction during compression was evidenced by a reduction in both refined lattice parameters a and c. Both ACP and HAP reverted to their original structures when the pressure was fully released to ambient pressure.

The long-period stacking ordered phases(LPSOs) in Mg-Ni-Y system have been attracting great interest as effective strengthening components because of their unique structural characteristics and deformation ***,the phase relationships in LPSOs are complicated and unclear,which restricts the design of advanced magnesium-based *** aim of the present work is to experimentally determine the phase equilibria relationships focusing on LPSOs and establish the thermodynamic description for Mg-Ni-Y *** types of LPSOs,that is,14H,12R,18R and 10H,are confirmed through equilibrated alloys and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HR-TEM).The formation enthalpies of LPSOs(14H,12R,18R and 10H) are calculated based on density functional theories(DFT) calculations.A new ternary compound,termed as τ phase,is observed for the first time which is likely to be the distorted structure of 12R as determined from the TEM image which shows a 12-layer closed packing plane distance of 3.252nm and a shear angle of 83.2°between(0002) and(10■0) *** on the determined phase equilibria relationship,the Mg-Ni-Y system is assessed and a selfconsistent description is obtained where the LPSOs are modeled as the stoichiometric *** comparison between the calculation result and experimental data suggests the accuracy of the present thermodynamic database in the Mg-rich corner.

Sarcochilus weinthalii is a rare,epiphytic orchid largely restricted to the dry rainforests of eastern *** of the conservation procedures for the orchid includes isolation and identification of the associated mycorrhizal *** this study the mycorrhizal fungal partner of the species was determined through extraction and sequencing of DNA from both colonised orchid roots and pure fungal cultures grown out from orchid roots.A single species of Ceratobasidium predominated in the orchid suggesting that the orchid displays narrow fungal *** mycorrhizal fungus can now be used in conservation procedures involving ex situ growth and the reintroduction of plants to the natural state.

Nonpolar m-plane AlGaN offers the advantage of polarization-free multiple quantum wells(MQWs)for ultraviolet(UV)emission and can be achieved on the sidewalls of selective area grown GaN *** reveal that the growth of AlGaN on GaN nanowires by metal organic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD)is driven by vapor-phase diffusion,and consequently puts a limit on the pitch of nanowire array due to shadowing *** insight into the difficulty of achieving metal-polar AlGaN nanowire by selective area growth(SAG)in MOCVD is also provided and can be attributed to the strong tendency to form pyramidal structure due to a very small growth rate of{1011}semipolar planes compared to(0001)*** nonpolar m-plane sidewalls of GaN nanowires obtained via SAG provides an excellent platform for growth of nonpolar AlGaN *** emission from mplane Al_(x)Ga_(1−x)N/Al_(y)Ga_(1−y)N MQWs grown on sidewalls of dislocation-free GaN nanowire is demonstrated in the wavelength range of 318–343 nm.

An effective regulation of the magnetism and interface of ferromagnetic materials is not only of great scientific significance,but also has an urgent need in modern *** this work,by using the first-principles calculations,we demonstrate an effective approach to achieve non-volatile electrical control of ferromagnets,which proves this idea in multiferroic heterostructures of ferromagnetic La TiO_(3)and ferroelectric Bi FeO_(3).The results show that the magnetic properties and two-dimensional electron gas concentrations of La TiO_(3)films can be controlled by changing the polarization directions of Bi FeO_(3).The destroyed symmetry being introduced by ferroelectric polarization of the system leads to the transfer and reconstruction of the Ti-3 d electrons,which is the fundamental reason for the changing of magnetic *** multiferroic heterostructures will pave the way for non-volatile electrical control of ferromagnets and have potential applications.

Sexual identity was diverse in australian modernistic novels,and it was especially prominent in the works of Patrick White who was an im portant modernistic litterateur. White was hom osexual,and he gave a reflection to the sex-related identity concerns in a diverse way because he was deeply depressed by the australian heterosexual system before and after the Second World War. The sexual themes of the australian modernistic novels were often manifested in a subtle,indirect way. In this paper,the sexual identity and value of the characters in australian modernistic novels are discussed,so as to profoundly explore the understandings of human nature.
