Chronic hepatitis B is one of the most common epidemic diseases in China and has become a majorhealth issue. To help standardize the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic hepatitis B, the Guideline on prevention and treatment of chronic hepatitis B （abbr. Guideline） was created by a group of appropriate experts belonging to the Society of Hepatology and the Society of Infectious Disease, the Chinese Medical association according to the principles of evidence-based medicine using the latest clinical research data. The evidence used to formulate the recommendation has been classified into 3 classes and 5 grades, which are indicated by Roman numerals in brackets.

In April 2013, the US Chinese Anti-Cancer association (USCACA) held its 5th annual meeting in conjunction with the American association for Cancer Research (AACR) 2013 Annual Meeting in Washington DC. The USCACA executive committee reported activities and programs and highlighted the partnership and collaboration between USCACA and other major organizations. The key initiatives and programs of USCACA included 1) USCACA-TIGM Esophageal Cancer Program that funds translational research of esophageal cancer prevention and treatment at the Xinxiang Medical University in Henan province, China; 2) the USCACA-NFCR-AFCR Scholarship Program, which has supported 10 young outstanding Chinese cancer researchers and will award 4 fellowships at the Guangzhou International Symposium on Oncology in November this year; 3) USCACA-Hengrui Training Program for Early Phase Clinical Research, which has supported the training of a Chinese scholar at two major cancer centers in the US; and 4) USCACA has continued its partnership with the Chinese Journal of Cancer, which has reached significant international impact.

Cancer has become the first leading cause of death in the world, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Facing the increasing trend of cancer incidence and mortality, China issued and implemented ＂three-early（early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment）＂ national cancer prevention plan. As the main body and dependence of social governance, non-governmental organizations（NGOs） take over the role of government in the field of cancer prevention and treatment. American Cancer Society（ACS） made a research on cancer NGOs and civil society in cancer control and found that cancer NGOs in developing countries mobilize civil society to work together and advocate governments in their countries to develop policies to address the growing cancer burden. Union for International Cancer Control（UICC）, Cancer Council Australia（CCA）, and Malaysian cancer NGOs are the representatives of cancer NGOs in promoting cancer control. Selecting Chinese Anti-Cancer association（CACA） as an example in China, this article is to investigate how NGOs undertake systematic cancer prevention work in China. By conducting real case study, we found that, as a NGO, CACA plays a significant role in intensifying the leading role of government in cancer control, optimizing cancer outcomes, decreasing cancer incidence and mortality rates and improving public health.

Experience in many parts of the developing world has shown that food fortification offers a cost_effective and sustainable solution to the problem of micronutrient malnutrition. Building on the advances in science and technology and backed by studies on the economic benefits of fortification programs, governments and industry are beginning to respond positively to the call of nutrition advocates to adopt fortification as a long_term strategy. On the other hand, formidable challenges still remain in many countries in Asia, constraining the widespread adoption of this strategy. The science and technology community needs to provide adequate scientific and technological information as basis for planning and decision making. The government faces the challenge of providing the enabling environment for all stakeholders to cooperate in the fortification effort. Industry faces the challenge of adapting its production system to the requirements of fortification in order that they can contribute to social objectives while pursuing their economic objectives. The international and bilateral aid agencies need to seek tried and innovative ways to support the multiple players of food fortification, as these players in turn face the challenges that confront them.

Crack Characteristic Measurement in Beryllium after Thermal Shock

he numbers and distribution of cracks in bulk beryllium which was loaded by intense electron beam were observed by optical image analysis, where the crack characteristic measurement and analysis were performed. The results show that: 1) The crack numbers in TR30 of beryllium with fine grain size and relatively high BeO content (no more than 3%) are about 2～4 times more than that in DShG200 of beryllium, whose grain size is larger but BeO content is less than 0.8%, under the same electron beam loading conditions, the ceramic phase of BeO in beryllium makes beryllium more brittle. 2) The successive electron pulse irradiation results in the wider cracks since the cracks formed by the former shot might be enlarged by following shots. The reason might be that there was a stress concentration at original cracks when the second shot came and so that thermal stress raised. DShG200 exhibit the better thermal shock resistance than that of TR30.
