Direct seawater splitting has emerged as a popular and promising research direction for synthesising clean,green,non-polluting,and sustainable hydrogen energy without depending on high-purity water in the face of the world’s shortage of fossil ***,efficient seawater splitting is hindered by slow kinetics caused by the ultra-low conductivity and the presence of bacteria,microorganisms,and stray ions in ***,producing hydrogen on an industrial scale is challenging due to the high production *** present review addresses these challenges from the catalyst point of view,namely,that designing catalysts with high catalytic activity and stability can directly affect the rate and effect of seawater *** the ion transfer perspective,designing membranes can block harmful ions,improving the stability of seawater *** the energy point of view,mixed seawater systems and self-powered systems also provide new and low-energy research systems for seawater ***,ideas and directions for further research on direct seawater splitting in the future are pointed out,with the aim of achieving low-cost and high-efficiency hydrogen production.

TISSUE CRYOPRESERVATION AND REWARMING STUDY ON GIANT CELL TUMOR OF BONE

An attempt has been made of cryopreservation of tissue fragments from 6 GCTB surgicalspecimens. They have been kept in 10% DMSO or 15% glycerol medium and stored in liquidnitrogen for periods up to 180 days. Tumor cellular components survive the process of slowfreezing and rapid thawing as cellular growth is successful in subsequent culture. Thoughcertain reversible ultrastructural changes have been detected, no apparent distinction couldbe found in microscopic morphology, motility, growth behavior and LDH isozyme pattern be-tween cultured cells of the cryopreserved fragments and those of the fresh ones. Electronmicroscopy shows that DMSO exceeds glycerol in protecting the ultrastructure of the *** cooling and rapid thawing is recommended because ice-crystals form in the intercellularspace. which causes only light damage to the cells.

A simultaneous experimental and numerical study of shear fracture of concrete-like materials is carried out using Brazilian disc specimens with initial double edge cracks and fourpoint bending beam specimens with double *** interference effects of two cracks/notches are investigated through varied ligament angles and crack *** is shown that shear fracturing paths change remarkably with the initial ligament angles and crack *** cracked specimens are numerically simulated by an indirect boundary element method.A comparison between the numerical results and the experimental ones shows good agreement.

Digital Jacquard Fabric Design in Colorful Mode

Digital image design is one of advanced technique in textile design. The investigation into digital Jacquard textile design in the colorful mode is one form of research in digital Jacquard fabric design, which aimed at expanding past and present jacquard design and production methods towards innovative ends. In this paper, the design principles and design methods for unconventional digital Jacquard fabric design in colorful mode have been analyzed based on the new technologies and computer applied color theory. The results of this study will enhance further research in the area of digital textile.

Trade Destruction and Trade Diversion： Evidence from China

Over the past three decades, we have seen a dramatic increase in the incidence oftemporary trade barriers such as antidumping duties and countervailing duties. Chinahas been at the receiving end of a large number of such measures. In this paper, we studyhow China＇s exports to its major trade partners have been affected when its major tradepartners have used these measures either against China or against other countries. Wefind that Chinese exports to the country that imposed an antidumping duty decreased byapproximately 35 percent. At the same time, an antidumping duty used by the importingcountry that was directed towards other countries but not against China led to anapproximate 30-percent increase in China＇s exports to the policy-imposing *** results remain robust across various specifications. Our findings have importantpolicy implications. In particular, the magnitude of these effects highlights why it isimportant to curb the recent widespread use of these barriers.

Investigation of effects of hazard geometry and mitigation strategies on community resilience under tornado hazards using an Agent-based modeling approach

A large number of communities are impacted annually by the increasing frequency of tornado hazards resulting in damage to the infrastructure as well as disruption of community *** effect of the hazard geometry(center and angle of tornado path as well as the tornado width)is studied herein on how it influences the recovery of physical and social systems within the *** that pre-disaster preparedness including mitigation strategies(e.g.,retrofits)and policies(e.g.,insurance)is crucial for increasing the resilience of the community and facilitating a faster recovery process,in this study,the impact of various mitigation strategies and policies on the recovery trajectory and resilience of a typical US community subjected to a tornado is investigated considering different sources of *** virtual testbed of Centerville is selected in this paper and is modeled by adopting the Agent-based modeling(ABM)approach which is a powerful tool for conducting community resilience analysis that simulates the behavior of different types of agents and their interactions to capture their *** results are presented in the form of recovery time series as well as calculated resilience indices for various community systems(lifeline networks,schools,healthcare,businesses,and households).The results of this study can help deepen our understanding of how to efficiently expedite the recovery process of a community.

Healthcare-associated infection is a common problem of newborn in neonatal intensive care units. It results in high mortality rate and serious complications. The Aim: to assess the incidence, etiology and the mortality of healthcareassociated infections of patients in neonatal intensive care unit at King Abdl Aziz Specialist Hospital (KAASH), Taif, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Material and Methods: This is a retrospective study including 8033 neonates admitted to neonatal intensive care unit during period between April, 2006 and December, 2012. The health-care associated infection rate, mortality rate, causative organism and risk factors were studied. Results: The prevalence of health-care associated infection was found to be 6.03%;the mortality rate was 27.1%. The highest prevalence was among children with the birth weight below 1000 g. The most frequent causative pathogen was klebseilla spp, followed by other gram negative bacilli. Conclusion: The rate of healthcare-associated infections in neonatal intensive care unit at KAASH was relatively high. In addition, the mortality rate was observed to be high (27.1%) owing to the high virulence of the causative organisms.

Mutation analyses of integrated HBV genome in hepatitis B patients

Little has been learnt in the last 30 years about detection of HBV genome as well as its mutation analysis between hepatitis B fathers （HBF） and their children. In this study, we used nest polymerase chain reaction （PCR）, fluorescence in situ hybridization （FISH）, and DNA sequencing analysis, to examine the integrated HBV genome in paraffin-embedded testis tissues, which were taken as samples from HBE and in peripheral blood mononuclear cells （PBMC） from 74 cases of HBFs and their children who were born after their fathers＇ HBV infection （caHBF）. We found that HBV DNA existed in testis tissues, mainly in the basilar parts of the seminiferous tubules, and also in PBMC of HBE It was also documented that there were point mutations of poly-loci, insertions and deletions of nucleotides in integrated HBV genomes, and the types of gene mutations in the HBFs were similar to those in caHBE This study addresses the major types of gene mutations in integrated HBV genome in human patients and also presents reliable evidence of possible genetic transmission of hepatitis B.

This paper presents how to apply the RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial In User Service)protocol ,which is generally applied to dial-up network, to the authentication & charge of Broad Band accessing control system on Ethernet. It is provided that the Broad Band accessing control system included a self-designed communication protocol is used in communicating between an terminal user and Network Access Server .The interface module on the servers side and the Radius system is also given in this article.

Trading Land Development Rights under a Planned Land Use System:The“Zhejiang Model”

China＇ s state planned land use system, including regulations such as setting planned quotas for land use, basic cropland preservation, and pursuing a balance between the conversion of arable land into non-agricultural use and the supplement of new agricultural land, has substantially constrained the economic growth of industrial provinces in China. This article explores the innovative reforms adopted by Zhejiang Province through land development rights （LDR） transfer within a locality and LDR trading across localities. We argue that there is a ＂Zhejiang model of LDR transferring and trading,＂ which, we believe, has significant implications not only for fostering an efficiency-enhancing market for land development rights and agricultural land preservation, but also for optimal use of land and a more balanced regional development. One important policy issue relating to China＇s rural land system is that under China＇ s land requisition system, farmers are usually under compensated for urban land-taking.
