Effect of date palm pollen supplementation on female sexual function in non-menopausal women:A double blind randomized clinical trial

Objective:Despite numerous experimental studies in the literature,there are few clinical trials regarding the effect of date palm pollen(DPP)supplementation on sexual function *** the present study,we sought to evaluate the impact of DPP on female sexual function in Iranian non-menopausal ***:Between October 2019 and December 2019,health centers in the city of Khalkhal,volunteers meeting the inclusion criteria were recruited in randomized clinical ***-eight women were randomly stratified and assigned to one of the two study groups:placebo group(n=35)and palm pollen group(n=35),and received a starch or palm pollen capsule(300 mg per day),respectively,for 35 *** Female Sexual Function Index(FSFI)instrument was used to assess female sexual ***:After DPP supplementation,the increase in desire,lubrication,and the overall score,was statistically significant compared to the placebo group(P=0.002,P=0.000,and P=0.042;respectively);Whilst there was no significant differences in the remaining domains(arousal:P=0.763;orgasm:P=0.370;satisfaction:P=0.474;pain:P=0.259).There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the coitus and preintervention levels of desire(r=0.298,P=0.038),arousal(r=0.328,P=0.021),lubrication(r=0.361,P=0.011),orgasm(r=0.320,P=0.025),satisfaction(r=0.327,P=0.022),and overall scores(r=0.338,P=0.018).Conclusion:This study suggests that DPP(300 mg supplementation for 35 d),given to non-menopausal women,could improve the lubrication and desire domains of FSFI.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of moxa-burning heat stimulating acupoints Zusanli(ST36) and Shenshu(BL23) on macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF) and its related molecules which can provide scientific experimental basis for the clinical application of moxibustion treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA). METHODS: Thirty rabbits were randomly assigned to control group, RA model(established by injecting Freund’s Complete Adjuvant) group(RA group) and RA model with moxibustion group [Moxa group, Zusanli(ST36) and Shenshu(BL23), 5 moxa pillars/day, 6 d × 3]. The expressions of MIF m RNA were evaluated with reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction;the apoptosis rates of macrophages were detected by erminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d TUP nick end labeling;the expressions of related signal molecules were detected with immunohistochemical S-P method and the levels of IL-2 were detected with enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: The expressions of MIF m RNA, extracellular regulated protein kinases 2, p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor-κ-gene binding p65 in synovial tissue of RA group were significantly increased when compared with control group, which were lower remarkably in moxa group than those in RA group. The apoptosis rates of macrophages in RA group were significantly down-regulated as compared with the control group, which were up-regulated in moxa group compared with the RA group. The levels of IL-2 in synovial fluid from the RA group were elevated significantly as compared with that from control group, but those of the moxa group were reduced when compared with those from RA group. CONCLUSIONS: Moxibustion may simultaneously regulate the expressions of MIF and its related signaling pathways molecules, the apoptosis rate of macrophages in synovial tissue, as well as the level of inflammatory factors in synovial fluid. Synovial chondromatosis of the foot: Two case reports and literature review

BACKGROUND Primary synovial chondromatosis(PSC) is a rare arthropathy of the synovial joints characterized by the formation of cartilaginous nodules, which may detach and become loose bodies within the joint and may undergo secondary proliferation. PSC of the foot and ankle is exceedingly rare, with only a few cases reported in the literature. The diagnosis may be difficult and delayed until operative treatment, when it is confirmed by histological assessment. PSC may degenerate into chondrosarcoma. Operative treatment is the gold standard aiming to minimize pain, improve function, prevent or limit progression of arthritis. Surgical treatment consists in debridement by arthrotomic or arthroscopic management, but there is no consensus in the literature about timing of surgery and surgical technique. Thus, the aim of this study is to report the outcomes of the surgical treatment of two cases, together with a literature *** SUMMARY We report two cases of patients affected by PSC of the foot in stage III, according to the Milgram classification: the former PSC localized in the ankle that underwent open surgery consisted of loose bodies removal;the latter in the subtalar joint, and the choice of treatment was the arthrotomy and debridement from loose bodies, in addition to the subtalar arthrodesis. Both patients returned to complete daily and working life after *** Synovial chondromatosis is a rare benign pathology, even rarer in the ankle joint and especially in the foot. Surgery should be minimal in patients with ankle PSC,choosing the correct timing, waiting if possible until stage III. More aggressive and early surgery should be performed in patients with PSC of the foot,particularly the subtalar joint, due to the high risk of arthritic evolution.

Objective: To identify whether the medial or lateral approach is superior for patients with valgus knee undergoing primary total knee arthroplasty(TKA). Methods: Studies evaluating the two approaches were sourced from PUBMED, EMBASE, Web of Science and OVID databases. The quality of included studies was assessed using a modified quality evaluation method, and differences between approaches were systematically reviewed. Results: Seventeen observational studies were included. The studies were published between 1991 and 2016, comprising 5 retrospective studies and 12 prospective *** evaluation methods for the study outcomes were identified. Twelve and eight complication types were identified by studies reporting the lateral and medial approaches for valgus knee, *** studies showed that pain scores and knee function were superior using a lateral ***: Lateral approach is useful and safe in the treatment of patients with valgus knee undergoingTKA. Most of the available evidence supports the use of a lateral approach provided that the surgeon was familiar with the pathological anatomy in valgus knee.

Biothermomechanical behavior of skin tissue

Advances in laser, microwave and similar technologies have led to recent developments of thermal treatments involving skin tissue. The effectiveness of these treatments is governed by the coupled thermal, mechanical, biological and neural responses of the affected tissue： a favorable interaction results in a procedure with relatively little pain and no lasting side effects. Currently, even though each behavioral facet is to a certain extent established and understood, none exists to date in the interdisciplinary area. A highly interdisciplinary approach is required for studying the biothermomechanical behavior of skin, involving bioheat transfer, biomechanics and physiology. A comprehensive literature review pertinent to the subject is presented in this paper, covering four subject areas：（a） skin structure, （b） skin bioheat transfer and thermal damage, （c） skin biomechanics, and （d） skin biothermomechanics. The major problems, issues, and topics for further studies are also outlined. This review finds that significant advances in each of these aspects have been achieved in recent years. Although focus is placed upon the biothermomechanical behavior of skin tissue, the fundamental concepts and methodologies reviewed in this paper may also be applicable for studying other soft tissues.

Therapeutic Effect Analysis of Sodium Aescinate Tablets on Knee Osteoarthritis Combined with Synovitis

Objective:To observe therapeutic effect of sodium aescinate Tablets on knee osteoarthritis complicated with ***:86 patients with knee osteoarthritis combined with synovitis treated in the Honghui Hospital Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University from January 2018 to December 2019 were randomly divided into control group and intervention group,with 43 cases in each *** control group was given routine treatment,and the intervention group was given sodium aescinate Tablets orally on the basis of routine treatment,twice a day,2 tablets each *** curative effect was evaluated after 2 weeks of *** knee pain and joint function of the two groups were evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities arthritis Index(WOMAC),and the clinical effects of the two groups were ***:Before treatment,there was no significant difference in general information,VAS and WOMAC scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the VAS and WOMAC scores of the two groups were both lower than those before treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(Ppain,improving joint function and improving clinical efficacy,and the difference was statistically *** total effective rate of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group(100%vs 86.05%),and the difference was statistically significant(Parthritis combined with synovitis can effectively alleviate knee pain,improve joint function and improve clinical efficacy.
