Effects of Nitrogen Source and Bacterial Elicitor on Isoflavone Accumulation in Root Cultures of Albizzia kalkora （Roxb.） Prain

Changes in cellular isoflavone （daidzein and genistein） contents were monitored in root cultures of Albizzia kalkora （Roxb.） Prain after feeding different ratios of NH4^＋/NO3^- and treatment with a biotic elicitor （three strains of Rhizobium sp.）. The NH4^＋/NO3^- ratio appears to be positively correlated with daidzein content in the roots and shows a negative correlation with genistein. Among the three different strains of Rhizobium used, the strain ATCC 15834 caused a 35% increase in daidzein production by infection. In the case of genistein, maximum production （94%） was obtained when cultures were treated on Day 6 by the strains ATCC 15834 and KCTC 1541. The biosynthetic pathway of the two isoflavones apparently reacts differently to the same culture conditions and the same strains of Rhizobium. Therefore, the present data suggest that the production of daidzein and genistein could be modulated by changing the NH4^＋/NO3^- ratio and the application of Rhizobium.

High energy products (BH) max of 365 and 310 kJ·m -3 with intrinsic coercivity iH c of 1640 kA·m -1 of NdFeB sintered magnets were produced. Some new techniques were applied, such as thin NdFeB ingot technique, narrow particle distribution on jet mill, low oxygen content control and high aligned magnetic field press. It is necessary to produce thin NdFeB ingot with fine flake crystal, narrow particle distribution, the average size of NdFeB powders less than 4.0 μm, uniform microstructure, high oriented Nd 2Fe 14B small grains, and finally high performance NdFeB sintered magnets were prepared.

A novel and simple ion-exchange method was developed for the synthesis of nano-SnO/micro-C hybrid structure. The structure of the as prepared nano-SnO/micro-C was directly revealed by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. SnO particles with the size about 25 nm were well confined in amorphous carbon microparticles. Carbon matrix in micrometer scale not only acts as a protective buffer for the SnO nanoparticles during the battery cycling processes, but also avoids the shortcomings of nanostructures, such as low tap density and potential safety threats. Electrochemical behaviors of the nano-SnO/micro-C were tested as anode material in lithium ion batteries. The initial reversible capacity is 508 mA h g^-1, and the reversible capacity after 60 cycles is 511 mA h g^-1, indicating good capacity retention ability.

Life cycle environmental impact assessment of biochar-based bioenergy production and utilization in Northwestern Ontario,Canada

Biochar-based bioenergy production and sub- sequent land application of biochar can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by fixing atmospheric carbon into the soil for a long period of time. A thorough life cycle assessment of biochar-based bioenergy production and biochar land application in Northwestern Ontario is conducted using SimaPro Ver. 8.1. The results of energy consumption and potential environmental impact of biochar-based bioenergy production system are compared with those of conventional coal-based system. Results show that biocbar land application consumes 4847.61 MJ per tonne dry feedstock more energy than conventional system, but reduces the GHG emissions by 68.19 kg CO2e per tonne of dry feed- stock in its life cycle. Biochar land application improves ecosystem quality by 18 %, reduces climate change by 15 %, and resource use by 13 % but may adversely impact on human health by increasing disability adjusted life years by 1.7 % if biomass availability is low to medium. Replacing fossil fuel with woody biomass has a positiveimpact on the environment, as one tonne of dry biomass feedstock when converted to biochar reduces up to 38 kg CO2e with biochar land application despite using more energy. These results will help understand a comprehensive picture of the new interventions in forestry businesses, which are promoting biochar-based bioenergy production.

The recrystallization behaviour of cold drawn MP159 alloy was investigated by optical and TEM examinations. It is found that the platelet epsilon phase in the MP alloy inhibits the recrystallization, and this effect makes the MP159 alloy with high recrystallization temperature of about 920 degrees C. This inhibition mainly comes from the increasing of the interfacial energy, which results from the change of the coherent interfaces of (0001)(hcp)//(111)(fcc) into the incoherent interfaces when the recrystallizing grain fronts bypass the platelet epsilon martensite. The increasing of the interfacial energy also causes the dissolution of a few segments on the epsilon martensite platelets, which decreases the strength of the MP alloy.

To reveal the causes of differences in the hydrocarbon accumulation in continental marginal basins in the centralsouthern South China Sea,we used gravity-magnetic,seismic,drilling,and outcrop data to investigate the tectonic histories of the basins and explore how these tectonic events controlled the hydrocarbon accumulation conditions in these *** the subduction of the Cenozoic proto-South China Sea and the expansion of the new South China Sea,the continental margin basins in the central-southern South China Sea could be classified as one of three types of epicontinental basins:southern extensional-foreland basins,western extensional-strike slip basins,and central extensional-drift *** these basins have different tectonic and sedimentary histories,they also differ in their accumulated hydrocarbon *** the Cenozoic,the basin groups in the southern South China Sea generally progressed through three stages:faulting and subsidence from the late Eocene to the early Miocene,inversion and uplift in the middle Miocene,and subsidence since the late *** source rocks with marine-continental transitional facies dominated byⅡ-Ⅲkerogen largely developed in extremely thick Miocene sedimentary series with the filling characteristics being mainly deep-water deposits in the early stage and shallow water deposits in the late *** well-developed sandstone and carbonate reservoirs,this stratum has a strong hydrocarbon generation *** the Cenozoic,the basin groups in the western South China Sea also progressed through the three developmental stages discussed *** source rocks with lacustrine facies,marine-continental transitional facies,and terrigenous marine facies dominated byⅡ2-Ⅲkerogen largely developed in the relatively thick stratum with the filling characteristics being mainly lacustrine deposits in the early stage and marine deposits in the late *** a reservoir comprised of self-generated a

The evolution of microstructural variables, including the densities of mobile dislocation, immobile dislocation at the cell interiors, immobile dislocation in the cell walls, as well as total dislocation density, of an Al-Mg-Si aluminium alloy during thermomechanical processing were simulated based on a three-internal-variables-model (3IVM) involving dislocation climb and interaction. Optimization was carried out to fit the calculated stress—strain curves to the experimental data of the Al-Mg-Si alloy with minimum mean deviation. Precipitations were taken into consideration of modeling. The stress—strain curves predicted by the kinetic equations of state in the 3IVM have a good agreement with the experimental data.
