New methods are need to co.rdinate the co.flicting spatial demands through urban design research and strategies from the perspective of multi-scale urban climate *** integrate windethermal environment with urban design,we propose three scale levels,namely the district-superblock,superblock-block,and block-building levels,and divide the urban design elements into voids and ***,we establish a multiscale methodological framework in which the urban design co.tents are clarified by each scale,and the information transmitted between scales is obtained to ensure co.sistent value propositions and strategic *** microclimate shaping of the urban open space is transformed into guiding strategies and quantitative indicators of the spatial form of the solid *** is transmitted between the scales through the windethermal indicators of windward side and the morphological indicators of solid ***,the methodology was applied to the project in the co.e area of Suzhou Science and Technology City,and the findings preliminarily verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the *** research influences urban climate studies and urban design practice in three ways:1)improving understanding of the co.relation between scales;2)facilitating interaction between the two domains;and 3)providing tools for urban design practices.

The renewal of ancient cities is an important part of the urban renewal work in ***,there are few studies on the general historical ancient cities at the co.nty level in China,and there is no guidance on the renewal *** the practice of the renewal design project of Suining co.nty,Xuzhou City,it makes an exploratory study on the renewal co.cept and *** first interprets the co.notation and implementation path of the renewal co.cept of“endowing the old with the new”.Based on the texture analysis of the ancient city of Suining,it finally determines the design theme that tracing the historical co.text of the ancient *** the renewal techniques such as“extraction-transformationactivation”,through the renewal strategies such as“building new space,shaping new landscape,inheriting new culture and pregnant with new environment”,it realizes the regeneration of urban historical co.text and meets the needs of residents'modern life,so as to provide reference and guidance for the renovation of general historical ancient cities at the co.nty level in China.

A wind turbine system equipped with a tuned liquid co.umn damper （TLCD） is co.prehensively studied via shaking table tests using a 1/13-scaled model. The effects of wind and wave actions are co.sidered by inputting response- equivalent accelerations on the shaking table. The test results show that the co.trol effect of the TLCD system is significant in reducing the responses under both wind-wave equivalent loads and ground motions, but obviously varies for different inputs, Further, a blade-hub-tower integrated numerical model for the wind turbine system is established. The model is capable of co.sidering the rotational effect of blades by co.bining Kane＇s equation with the finite element method. The responses of the wind tower equipped with TLCD devices are numerically obtained and co.pared to the test results, showing that under both co.trolled and unco.trolled co.ditions with and without blades＇ rotation, the co.responding responses exhibit good agreement. This demonstrates that the proposed numerical model performs well in capturing the wind-wave co.pled response of the offshore wind turbine systems under co.trol. Both numerical and experimental results show that the TLCD system can significantly reduce the structural response and thus improve the safety and serviceability of the offshore wind turbine tower systems. Additional issues that require further study are discussed.

The low-cycle loading test of two staggered slab-co.umn-boundary beam joints was carried out to study their seismic *** crack development,load-displacement relationship,displacement ductility,and energy dissipation performance of the staggered slab-co.umn joints(SSCJ)were *** results reveal that both specimens present short-co.umn brittle shear ***,an obvious hysteretic curve pinching phenomenon ***,it can be co.cluded that the seismic performance of the joints is *** results suggest that the anchorage of the longitudinal reinforcement of the slab in the joint’s co.e area should be improved,and attention should be paid to the short-co.umn stirrup co.figuration of the *** results can provide a research basis for the design of such joints in future applications.

The co.ventional dynamic co.trol devices,such as fluid visco.s damper(VFD)and isolating bearings,are unsuitable for the double-deck cable-stayed bridge due to a lack of sustainability,so it is necessary to introduce some high-tech dynamic co.trol devices to reduce dynamic response for double-deck cable-stayed bridges under earthquakes.A(90+128)m-span double-deck cable-stayed bridge with a steel truss beam is taken as the prototype bridge.A 3D finite element model is built to co.duct the nonlinear time-history analysis of different site categories in fortification intensityⅨ(0.40 g)degree *** new types of dynamic co.trol devices-cable sliding friction aseismic bearings(CSFABs)and elasticity fluid visco.s dampers co.posite devices(EVFDs)are introduced to reduce the dynamic responses of double-deck cable-stayed bridges with steel truss *** parametric optimization design for the damping co.fficient C and the elastic stiffness of spring K of EVFDs is *** following co.clusions are drawn:(1)The hybrid support system by EVFDs and CSFABs play a good function under both seismic and regular work,especially in eliminating the expansion joints damage;(2)The hybrid support system can reduce the beam-end displacement by 75%and the tower-bottom bending moment by 60%under the longitudinal seismic *** addition,it can reduce the pier-bottom bending moment by at least 45%under transverse seismic and co.trol the relative displacement between the pier and beam within 0.3 m.(3)Assuming the velocity indexα=0.3,the parametric optimization suggests the damping co.fficient C as 2000 kN·s·m-1in siteⅠ0,4000kN·s·m-1in siteⅡ,6000 kN·s·m-1in siteⅣ,and the elastic stiffness of spring K as 10000 kN/m in siteⅠ0,50000 kN/m in siteⅡ,and 100000 kN/m in siteⅣ.

Generalized stress field in granular soils heap with RayleigheRitz method

The stress field in granular soils heap(including piled co.l) will have a non-negligible impact on the settlement of the underlying soils. It is usually obtained by measurements and numerical *** the former method is not reliable as pressure cells instrumented on the interface between piled co.l and the underlying soft soil do not work well, results from numerical methods alone are necessary to be doubly checked with one more method before they are extended to more co.plex cases. The generalized stress field in granular soils heap is analyzed with Rayleighe Ritz method. The problem is divided into two cases: case A without horizontal co.straint on the base and case B with horizontal co.straint on the base. In both cases, the displacement functions u(x, y) and v(x, y) are assumed to be cubic polynomials with 12 undetermined parameters, which will satisfy the Cauchy’s partial differential equations, generalized Hooke’s law and boundary equations. A function is built with the Rayleighe Ritz method acco.ding to the principle of minimum potential energy, and the problem is co.verted into solving two undetermined parameters through the variation of the function, while the other parameters are expressed in terms of these two parameters. By co.parison of results from the Rayleighe Ritz method and numerical simulations, it is demonstrated that the Rayleighe Ritz method is feasible to study the generalized stress field in granular soils heap. Solutions from numerical methods are verified before being extended to more co.plicated cases.

The axial bearing capacity of prefabricated co.posite walls co.posed of inner and outer co.crete wythes,expandable polystyrene(EPS)boards and steel sleeve co.nectors is *** experimental study on the axial bearing capacity of four prefabricated co.posite walls after fire treatment is carried *** of the prefabricated co.posite walls are normal-temperature specimens,and the others are treated with *** damage modes and crack development are observed,and the axial bearing capacity,lateral deformation of the specimens,and the co.crete and reinforcing bar strain are *** results show that the ultimate bearing capacity of specimens after a fire is less than that of normal-temperature specimens;when the insulation board thicknesses are 40 mm and 60 mm,the decrease amplitudes are 20.8%and 16.8%,*** maximum lateral deformation of specimens after a fire is greater than that of normal-temperature specimens,and under the same level of load,the lateral deformation increases as the insulation board thickness ***,the strain values of the co.crete and reinforcing bars of specimens after a fire are greater than those of normal-temperature specimens,and the strain values increase as the thickness of insulation board increases.
