Corex is an alternative ironmaking process and raceway is one of the important areas to maintain the stability of the furnace. The raceway parameters are well established for blast furnace operation. But for Corex process,it has not yet been established and optimized. Thus,a mathematical model was developed to determine various raceway parameters such as RAFT （raceway adiabatic flame temperature）,tuyere gas velocity and kinetic energy. The model provides an idea about the raceway geometry,zone temperature and kinetic energy accumulated in tuyere gas. Besides,all the raceway parameters have been analyzed to find out their effects on the Corex process. It is found that RAFT influences the gasification reaction kinetics and higher RAFT generates more CO in reduction gas,which improves the metallisation degree of the DRI in shaft. It is also found that increased gas velocity and kinetic energy generate more fines and demand more coke to maintain char bed permeability. High coke rate increases the production cost and lowers the production of hot metal.

为了实现缩短出钢时间从而提高碱性氧气转炉(BOF)的生产效率,与熔融分析控制相关的过程如停吹、提枪或倾炉都要避免。为了达到这个目标,建立了一种用于控制BOF过程的新方法。该方法采用了一种新颖的、可在吹炼过程中进行炉渣和钢同时收集的非均相取样器,并应用了为此专门设计的激光分析方法(LIBS)。使用该方法,目标是尽可能快地完成非均相取样器收集的炉渣和钢的分析(Fe,C,P,S等元素)。除了建立非均相临线取样方法外,还建立了一种基于LIBS的特殊分析程序,当分析过程中移动非均相样品时,用于识别来自炉渣和钢的激光光束。与冶金模型相结合,由非均相取样器得来的数据经过处理后,可动态评价精炼进展状况并规定矫正行为,从而实现安全直接的出钢。预期的效益在于减少再吹炼的比率、节省出钢时间(预计每炉能缩短23min),同时延长耐火炉衬的寿命,提高生产产量。

This paper presents an analysis of the electric power flows in a hot rolling mill plant using a power quality analyzer and developing simulation models with Matlab-Simulink. The model inputs have been taken from process data by the process computer of the plant. Data from different rolling campaigns have been analysed. A STATCOM （static synchronous compensator） with a control strategy based on voltage oriented control with d-q coordinates is used as solution to improve the reactive compensation as well as to minimize the voltage fluctuations and sags effect. The overall electric model has been simulated with the STATCOM to check the improvement in the voltage stability and the consumption.

New Energy Recovery Pilot Coke Oven Concept and Design

Interest in Heat Recovery Coke Oven（HRCO） usage and processes has increased due to their improved environmental performance and ability to use a wide range of metallurgical and non-coking coals. To better understand the HRCO process, the Canadian Carbonization research Association（CCRA） embarked on a program to construct a pilot-scale HRCO. Hatch completed the design of this unique pilot oven needed to reproduce the industrial scale HRCO heating profile and coal charge, and to minimize coal heating edge effect. Different aspects of the pilot coke oven design concept are presented, including oven geometry and wall insulation design, heating strategy using electric heaters, structural buckstay and oven door designs. Several 2D and 3D thermal transient finite element analyses were carried out to calculate the temperature profile of the coal/coke bed and oven walls during coking, capturing the thermal nonlinear behavior of the coal and oven wall bricks and to size the coal bed insulation for minimum edge heating effect. The structural stability of the oven arches was achieved using a spring loaded buckstay for lateral support and expansion allowance. The pilot oven, referred to as the Energy Recovery Coke Oven（ERCO）, is being constructed at the Canmet ENERGY Laboratory in Ottawa, Canada.

Since 2015, the Republic of Kazakhstan has a new regulatory framework for construction on the basis of Eurocode. Many new steel quality requirements have been introduced for steel structures. As a result, Kazakhstan’s steel production almost ceased to be used in construction. Therefore, a series of studies is being carried out to determine the quality of local steel for compliance with the requirements of Eurocode 1993. Impact toughness testing was carried out on 126 samples of 8, 10, 20 mm thick structural steel produced by the “arcelor-mittal” company. The experimental study of impact toughness of KCV and KCU at a temperature of +20˚, -20˚, -40˚ degrees were conducted for seven types of structural steel, the most common in the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the experimental experimentation facility of the KazRDICA JSC. The ST RK STB EN 10045-1-2012 techniques were used. In each series of tests, 3 specimens were used. It has been established that in all cases the temperature requirements of Eurocode 1993 (National Annex to SP RK EN1993-1-1: 2005/2011*, Table НП.2*) are met. A regression relationship between the values of impact toughness and temperature was constructed. It has been established that construction steel produced in the Republic of Kazakhstan fully complies with the requirements of 1993 Eurocode. The studies on the dependence of Brinell hardness of steel on the impact toughness of steel at specified temperatures are performed. The correlation dependencies between the values of impact toughness and BH Brinell hardness have been obtained.
