Properties of Xanthoceras sorbifolia Husk Fibers With Chemical Treatment for Applications in Polymer Composites

Surface science of natural fibers plays an important role in polymer/natural fiber composites. The Xanthoceras sorbifolia husk fibers were selected and chemically treated by sodium hydroxide(Na OH) solution,coupling agents,their combination,and the mixtures of acetic acid with hydrogen peroxide,respectively. 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane(KH550),γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxylsilane(KH570) and organic titanate(JN-9A) were used as coupling agents in this work. Cellulose content was found to be increased after alkalization due to the removal of the non-cellulose substances,which was evidenced by attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared(ATR e FTIR) spectroscopy spectrum analysis and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) measurements. The highest cellulose content was obtained in the bleached fibers. TGA analysis revealed an improvement in thermal stability of the treated fibers,especially for alkali-KH570 treated fibers. The tensile strength of the alkali-KH570 treated fiber and the alkali-bleached fiber were higher than that of other fibers due to high cellulose content and high crystallinity.

This study directs the discussion of HIV disease with a novel kind of complex dynamical generalized and piecewise operator in the sense of classical and Atangana Baleanu(AB)derivatives having arbitrary *** HIV infection model has a susceptible class,a recovered class,along with a case of infection divided into three sub-different levels or categories and the recovered *** total time interval is converted into two,which are further investigated for ordinary and fractional order operators of the AB derivative,*** proposed model is tested separately for unique solutions and existence on bi *** numerical solution of the proposed model is treated by the piece-wise numerical iterative scheme of Newtons *** proposed method is established for piece-wise derivatives under natural order and non-singular Mittag-Leffler *** cross-over or bending characteristics in the dynamical system of HIV are easily examined by the aspect of this research having a memory effect for controlling the said *** study uses the neural network(NN)technique to obtain a better set of weights with low residual errors,and the epochs number is considered *** obtained figures represent the approximate solution and absolute error which are tested with NN to train the data accurately.

For the mixed effects models with balanced data, a new ordering of design matrices of random effects is defined, and then a simple formula of the spectral decomposition of covariance matrix is obtained. To compare with the two methods in literature,the decomposition can not only give the actual number of all distinct eigenvalues and their expression, but also show clearly the relationship between the design matrices of random effects and the decomposition. These results can be applied to the problems for testifying the analysis of the variance estimate being a minimum variance unbiased under all random effects models and some mixed effects models with balanced data, for finding the explicit solution of maximum likelihood equations for the general mixed effects model and for showing the relationship between the spectral decomposition estimate and the analysis of variance estimate.

Responses of Ammonia-Oxidizing Bacteria and Archaea in Two Agricultural Soils to Nitrification Inhibitors DCD and DMPP: A Pot Experiment

Taking two important agricultural soils with different pH, brown soil （Hap-Udic Luvisol） and cinnamon soil （Hap-Ustic Luvisol）, from Northeast China, a pot culture experiment with spring maize （Zea mays L.） was conducted to study the dynamic changes in the abundance and diversity of soil ammonia-oxidizing bacteria （AOB） and ammonia-oxidizing archaea （AOA） populations during maize growth period in response to the additions of nitrification inhibitors dicyandiamide （DCD） and 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate （DMPP） by the methods of real-time polymerase chain reaction （PCR） assay, PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （DGGE）, and construction of clone library targeting the amoA gene. Four treatments were established, i.e., no urea （control）, urea, urea plus DCD, and urea plus DMPP. Both DCD and DMPP inhibited growth of AOB significantly, compared to applying urea alone. Soil bacterial amoA gene copies had a significant positive linear correlation with soil nitrate content, but soil archaeal amoA gene copies did not. In both soils, all AOB sequences fell within Nitrosospira or Nitrosospira-like groups, and all AOA sequences belonged to group 1.1b crenaxchaea. With the application of DCD or DMPP, community composition of AOB and AOA in the two soils had less change except that the AOB community composition in Hap-Udic Luvisol changed at the last two growth stages of maize under the application of DCD. AOB rather than AOA likely dominated soil ammonia oxidation in these two agricultural soils.

The reactivity of a nuclear reactor is the most important safety and operating parameter. Due to short reactor period, the Light Water Reactor(LWR) designs require the compensations of rapid unfavorable reactivity increases. The increase in fuel or moderator temperature leads to compensate the reactivity jumps as inherent safety characteristics. The safe and reliable reactor operation requires the accurate assessment of these reactivity changes. This paper highlights the improvements in the methodology to determine the feedback reactivity changes in IAEA MTR benchmark. This method incorporates the reactivity effects of fuel temperature in moderator regions and vice versa. For this purpose, a detailed 3D model of the IAEA 10 MW MTR benchmark reactor is developed employing OpenMC computer code. OpenMC is a probabilistic computer code for neutronic calculations. This work uses temperature-dependent JEFF 3.2 cross-sectional library. The model is validated against the reference results of eigenvalues for control rods(inserted and in fully withdrawn position), control rod reactivity worth, averaged thermal flux in the central flux trap, and power fraction for each fuel element at beginning of life. The validated model is applied to simulate the feedback reactivity coefficients against the conventional reference results. In order to improve the methodology, the effect of the moderator temperature and void on fuel is incorporated to obtain a more realistic value of the fuel temperature ***, the moderator temperature coefficient and void coefficient are improved by incorporating the coupling effects of fuel temperature on moderator. This methodology can be applied to improve the LWR designs.

Presence of Porphyromonas gingivalis in gingival squamous cell carcinoma

Periodontal disease has been recently linked to a variety of systemic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, preterm delivery, and oral cancer. The most common bacteria associated with periodontal disease, Porphyromonas gingivalis （P. gingivalis） has not yet been studied in the malignant gingival tissues. The objective of this study was to investigate the presence of R gingivalis in specimens from squamous cell carcinoma patients. We have performed immunohistochemical staining to investigate the presence of R gingivafis and Streptococcus gordonii （S. gordonii）, a non invasive oral bacteria, in paraffin embedded samples of gingival squamous cell carcinoma （n=10） and normal gingiva （n=5）. Staining for R gingivalis revealed the presence of the bacteria in normal gingival tissues and gingival carcinoma, with higher levels （more than 33%, P〈0.05） detected in the carcinoma samples. The staining intensity was also significantly enhanced in the malignant tissue by 2 folds （P〈0.023） compared to specimens stained for the non-invasive S. gordonii. R gingivalis is abundantly present in malignant oral epithelium suggesting a potential association of the bacteria with gingival squamous cell carcinoma.

Linear mixed effect models with skew-normal errors and distribution-free random effects are considered. The ANOVA-type F-tests are proposed to test the significance of random effects and the hypothesis on fixed effects of interest, respectively. Both tests are proved to be exact F-tests under this model, and the exact confidence interval for fixed effects of interest is derived. Simulation results are given to study the powers of ANOVA-type tests.

Screening Effect in Charge Qubit

We study the influence of screening effect on quantum decoherence for charge qubit and the process of quantum information storage. When the flux produced by the circulating current in SQUID loop is considered, screening effect is formally characterized by a LC resonator. Using large-detuning condition and Fr6hlich transformation in the qubit-cavity-resonator system, we calculate the decoherenee factor for charge qubit and the effective qubit-cavity Hamiltonian. The decoherence factor owns a factorized structure, it shows that screening effect is a resource of decoherence for charge qubit. The effective Hamiltonian shows that the screening effect results in a frequency shift for charge qubit and a modified qubit-cavity coupling constant induced by a LC resonator.
