The term‘executed linguistics’corresponds to an interdisciplinary domain in which the solutions are identified and provided for real-time language-related *** exponential generation of text data on the Internet must be leveraged to gain knowledgeable *** extraction of meaningful insights from text data is crucial since it can provide value-added solutions for business organizations and *** Automatic Text Summarization(ATS)process reduces the primary size of the text without losing any basic components of the *** current study introduces an applied linguistics-based English Text Summarization using a Mixed Leader-Based Optimizer with Deep Learning(ALTS-MLODL)*** presented ALTS-MLODL technique aims to summarize the text documents in the English *** accomplish this objective,the proposed ALTS-MLODL technique pre-processes the input documents and primarily extracts a set of ***,the MLO algorithm is used for the effectual selection of the extracted *** the text summarization process,the Cascaded Recurrent Neural Network(CRNN)model is exploited whereas the Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA)is used as a hyperparameter *** exploitation of the MLO-based feature selection and the WOA-based hyper-parameter tuning enhanced the summarization *** validate the perfor-mance of the ALTS-MLODL technique,numerous simulation analyses were *** experimental results signify the superiority of the proposed ALTS-MLODL technique over other approaches.

applied linguistics is an interdisciplinary domain which identifies,investigates,and offers solutions to language-related real-life *** new coronavirus disease,otherwise known as Coronavirus disease(COVID-19),has severely affected the everyday life of people all over the ***,since there is insufficient access to vaccines and no straight or reliable treatment for coronavirus infection,the country has initiated the appropriate preventive measures(like lockdown,physical separation,and masking)for combating this extremely transmittable ***,individuals spent more time on online social media platforms(i.e.,Twitter,Facebook,Instagram,LinkedIn,and Reddit)and expressed their thoughts and feelings about coronavirus *** has become one of the popular social media platforms and allows anyone to post *** study proposes a sine cosine optimization with bidirectional gated recurrent unit-based senti-ment analysis(SCOBGRU-SA)on COVID-19 *** SCOBGRU-SA technique aimed to detect and classify the various sentiments in Twitter data during the COVID-19 *** SCOBGRU-SA technique follows data pre-processing and the Fast-Text word embedding process to accomplish ***,the BGRU model is utilized to recognise and classify sen-timents present in the ***,the SCO algorithm is exploited for tuning the BGRU method’s hyperparameter,which helps attain improved classification *** experimental validation of the SCOBGRU-SA technique takes place using a benchmark dataset,and the results signify its promising performance compared to other DL models.

Emotion classification in textual conversations focuses on classifying the emotion of each utterance from textual *** is becoming one of the most important tasks for natural language processing in recent ***,it is a challenging task for machines to conduct emotion classification in textual conversations because emotions rely heavily on textual *** address the challenge,we propose a method to classify emotion in textual conversations,by integrating the advantages of deep learning and broad learning,namely *** aims to provide a more effective solution to capture local contextual information(i.e.,utterance-level)in an utterance,as well as global contextual information(i.e.,speaker-level)in a conversation,based on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(Bi-LSTM),and broad *** experiments have been conducted on three public textual conversation datasets,which show that the context in both utterance-level and speaker-level is consistently beneficial to the performance of emotion *** addition,the results show that our proposed method outperforms the baseline methods on most of the testing datasets in weighted-average F1.

Lecturers’Efforts in Building Rapport in the English-Medium Instruction(EMI)Context:Focus on the Use of Communication Strategies

Past studies reveal the prevalence of anxiety,coupled with low motivation and disengagement among students in English-medium instruction(EMI)*** the detrimental impact these negative emotions can have on learning outcomes,it is imperative that teachers establish positive emotional rapport with their *** study explores how experienced and highly rated EMI lecturers at a Chinese university’s overseas campus use communication strategies to build rapport with their students during interactive academic *** identifies the strategies used by these lecturers and examines how the strategies facilitate the teaching-learning *** data,consisting of 10 hours of tutorials and 10 hours of supervisor-student supervision meetings,is analyzed using an adapted Conversation Analysis(CA)*** analysis reveals three types of communication strategies(CSs)frequently used by lecturers:back-channeling,codeswitching,and co-creation of *** employing these strategies,the lecturers established a strong rapport with the students,which created an encouraging and supportive learning ***,this positive atmosphere facilitated students’learning of content knowledge through *** findings of this study have implications for the training of lecturers who encounter difficulties in establishing rapport with multilingual students in the EMI setting.

Excitation patterns and phonetic identities of Chinese vowels

After entering the peripheral auditory system, a sound undergoes many significant changes. The excitation pattern describes these changes psychoacoustically as inner expression. This study investigates the relations between excitation patterns and their phonetic qualities for Chinese steady-state vowels. First, the peak positions of the envelope of excitation patterns were measured on a database. The results demonstrated that each Chinese vowel has its own special position for the representative peak of the excitation pattern. Second, to examine the sufficiency of these results, a series of experiments that consisted of identification and evaluation tasks were conducted, in which spectral components of natural isolated vowels were manipulated to create certain excitation patterns. Subjects＇ responses of these stimuli show that the position of the representative peak of the excitation pattern of a vowel plays a crucial role on its phonetic identity. The results suggest that the phonetic identity of vowels is determined by the position of the representative peak of the excitation pattern evoked by it, and other peaks, if any, do not have phonetic meaning. Additionally, several phenomena about speech perception are discussed on the basis of this study.

Statistical properties of Chinese semantic networks

Almost all language networks in word and syntactic levels are small-world and scale-free. This raises the questions of whether a language network in deeper semantic or cognitive level also has the similar properties. To answer the question, we built up a Chinese semantic network based on a treebank with semantic role (argument structure) annotation and investigated its global statistical properties. The results show that although semantic network is also small-world and scale-free, it is different from syntactic network in hierarchical structure and K-Nearest-Neighbor correlation.
