AIM: To establish a method to simultaneously determine the main five alkaloids of Catharanthus roseus for trace samples, a high-performance liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-ESI-MS/MS) analysis method was developed. METHOD: The five Catharanthus alkaloids, vinblastine, vinc.istine, vinleurosine, vindoline, and catharanthine were chromatographically separated on a C18 HPLC column. The mobile phase was methanol-15 nmol?L–1 ammonium acetate containing 0.02% formic acid(65 : 35, V/V). The quantification of these alkaloids was based on the Multiple Reaction Monitoring(MRM) mode. RESULTS: This method was validated, and the results achieved the aims of the study. The intra- and inter-day precision and accuracy of the five alkaloids were within 1.2%-11.5%(RSD%) and-10.9%-10.5%(RE%). The recovery rates of the five alkaloids of samples were from 79.9% to 91.5%. The five analytes were stable at room temperature for 2 h, at 4 °C for 12 h, and at-20 °C for two weeks. The developed method was applied successfully to determine the content of the five alkaloids in three plant parts of three batches of C. roseus with a minute amount collected from three regions of China. CONCLUSION: The HPLC-ESI-MS/MS method can be used for the simultaneous determination of five important alkaloids in trace C. roseus samples.

The isotropy or anisotropy in some physical properties of the amorphous poly(ethylene terephthalate) films uniaxially drawn at temperatures above its T-g and then quenched to room temperature have been studied. Experimental results here presented show that this amorphous state of high global chain orientation but nearly random segmental orientation, the GOLR state, is nearly isotropic in refractive indices and Young's modulus for small deformation, while it is very probably anisotropic in thermal conduction and microwave dielectric properties.

Phenology is a valuable attribute of vegetation to assess the biological impacts from climate change.A challenge of phenological research is to obtain information on both high temporal resolution and fine spatial scale ***,we constructed an air temperature map based on temporal merging and spatial interpolation algorithms to overcome the cloud-related problem from the MODIS LST ***,we derived the accumulated growing degree days(AGDD)from the constructed mean air temperature map to use as a meteorological ***,we verified the indicator with the seasonal mean air temperature and the green-up date of a Quercus mongolica forest determined from the field-based *** AGDD threshold for each *** forest when the first leaf has unfolded was detected from the EXG trajectory extracted from digital camera images.A comparison between meteorological and MODIS-derived AGDD showed good agreement between *** was also high consistency between DoYs extracted from AGDD and EVI based on curvature K for *** forests of 30 sampling sites throughout South *** results prove that microclimatic factors such as elevation,waterbody,and land-use intensity were faithfully reflected in the reconstructed ***,the results of this study could be applied effectively in areas where microclimatic variation is very severe and for monitoring phenology of undergrowth,which is difficult to detect from reflectance imaging.

Day by day worldwide use of plastics is inc.easing because of their light weight and durable characteristics. Waste plastics are major environmental problems all over the world. Waste plastics are not bio-degradable, it remains in the landfill for a long period of time causing vegetation and aquatic ecosystem dilemmas. Abandoned waste plastic thrown into the ocean causes friction of ocean waves and then broken down by sunlight into small pieces and takes the shape of plastic like soup. Aquatic organism mistakes the plastic soup as their food and can’t digest, either they die or through food chain it affects human health. To avoid severe environmental degradation problems of waste plastics some countries and big cities banned or restricted the use of plastic products. The worldwide generation of waste plastics is approximately 280 million tons/year. All most all of these waste plastics are dumped either in land or ocean. City municipalities spend huge amount of money each year just to dispose of these waste plastics into landfill because most waste plastics are not recycled. When the waste plastics are subjected to inc.neration, they release harmful toxic gas into the environment causing severe pollution. These waste plastics gradually enhance the hazardous environmental problems. Generally plastics are made from crude oil, however crude oil is a very limited natural resource and non-renewable. Every year millions of barrels of crude oil are to produce the waste plastics and when plastics are discarded after use the energy source is lost. A new developed technology plan minimizes the environment pollution problems simultaneously boost up energy sector by renovating the waste plastics into high energy content fuel. The produced fuel is obtained using a unique thermal degradation of waste plastics and converting them into hydrocarbon fuel like materials. As data volumes grow rapidly, distributed computations are widely employed in data-centers to provide cheap and efficient methods to process large-scale parallel datasets. Various computation models have been proposed to improve the abstraction of distributed datasets and hide the details of parallelism. However, most of them follow the single-layer partitioning method, which limits developers to express a multi-level partitioning operation succinc.ly. To overcome the problem, we present the NDD (Nested Distributed Dataset) data model. It is a more compact and expressive extension of Spark RDD (Resilient Distributed Dataset), in order to remove the burden on developers to manually write the logic for multi-level partitioning cases. Base on the NDD model, we develop an open-source framework called Bigflow, which serves as an optimization layer over computation engines from most widely used processing frameworks. With the help of Bigflow, some advanced optimization techniques, which may only be applied by experienced programmers manually, are enabled automatically in a distributed data processing job. Currently, Bigflow is processing about 3 PB data volumes daily in the data-centers of Baidu. According to customer experience, it can significantly save code length and improve performance over the intuitive programming style.

The ionic conductivity and the mechanical strength are two key factors for the performance of poly（ethylene oxide）（PEO） based polyelectrolytes. However, crystallized PEO suppresses ion conductivity at low temperature and melted PEO has low mechanical strength at high temperature. Here, random binary brush copolymer composed of PEO-and polystyrene（PS）-based side chains is synthesized. PEO crystallinity is suppressed by the introduction of PS brushes. Doping with lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate（Li Tf） induces microphase separation. Due to a random arrangement of the brushes, the microphase segregation is inc.mplete even at high salt loading, which provides both high ionic conductivity and high mechanical strength at room temperature. These results provide opportunities for the design of polymeric electrolytes to be used at room temperature.

Natural anisotropic nanostructures occurring in several organisms have gained more and more attention because of their obvious advantages in sensitivity, stability, security, miniaturization, portability, online use, and remote monitoring. Due to the development of research on nature-inspired bionic structures and the demand for highly efficient, low-cost microfabrication techniques, an understanding of and the ability to replicate the mechanism of structural coloration have become inc.easingly significant. These sophisticated structures have many unique functions and are used in many applications. Many sensors have been proposed based on their novel structures and unique optical properties. Several of these bio-inspired sensors have been used for infrared radiation/thermal, pH, and vapor techniques, among others, and have been discussed in detail, with an intense focus on several biomedical applications. However, many applications have yet to be discovered. In this review, we will describe these nanostructured materials based on their sources in nature and various structures, such as layered, hierarchical, and helical structures. In addition, we discuss the functions endowed by these structures, such as superhydrophobicity, adhesion, and high strength, enabling them to be employed in a number of applications in biomedical fields, inc.uding cell cultivation, biosensors, and tissue engineering.
