Thermochromic polymers will play an extremely important role in the next future. The physical background of thermochromism and the state of development of thermochromic polymers based on light absorption effects are reported. In detail, the interactions between the polymer matrix and the thermochromic composite - composed of leuco or indicator dyes - are discussed on a molecular level. Thermochromic hydrogels with extremely high transparency, an outstanding switching behavior from colorless to colored or between different colors is presented. Preparation of thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers, including the resulting optical, and, for the first time, the mechanical properties are discussed in relation to matrix tuned high-resistant microcapsules.

In this paper, we consider an MMPP/M/1/1 retrial queue where incoming fresh calls arrive at the server according to a Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP). Upon arrival, an incoming call either occupies the server if it is idle or joins a virtual waiting room called orbit if the server is busy. From the orbit, incoming calls retry to occupy the server in an exponentially distributed time and behave the same as a fresh incoming call. After an exponentially distributed idle time, the server makes an outgoing call whose duration is also exponentially distributed but with a different parameter from that of incoming calls. Our contribution is to derive the first order (law of large numbers) and the second order (central lim让 theorem) asymptotics for the distribution of the number of calls in the orb计 under the condition that the retrial rate is extremely low. The asymptotic results are used to obtain the Gaussian approximation for the distribution of the number of calls in the orbit. Our result generalizes earlier results where Poisson input was assumed.

Grain-size distributions of suspended load over a sand-gravel bed at two different flow velocities were studied in a laboratory *** experiments had been performed to study the influence of flow velocity and suspension height on grain-size distribution in suspension over a sand-gravel *** experimental findings show that with an increase of flow velocity,the grain-size distribution of suspended load changed from a skewed form to a bimodal one at higher suspension *** study focuses on the determination of the parameter β;which is the ratio of the sediment diffusion coefficient to the momentum diffusion coefficient of n th grain-size.A new relationship has been proposed involving β;,the normalizing settling velocity of sediment particles and suspension height,which is applicable for widest range of normalizing settling velocity available in literature so far.A similar parameter β for calculating total suspension concentration is also *** classical Rouse equation is modified with β;and β and used to compute grain-size distribution and total concentration in suspension,*** computed values have shown good agreement with the measured values of experimental data.

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the difference between the band compression mechanisms of plasmonic gratings and plasmonic *** plasmonic grating can pick out a fixed polarization band-width with changing the incidence angle,while the plasmonic heterograting composed of two different nanograt-ings can pick out a tunable bandwidth with changing the incidence angle and the period ratio of two *** range of the plasmonic resonances of the heterograting is about 30%wider than that of a conventional ***,the plasmonic heterograting can work efficiently in a wider wavelength ***,high polarization extinction ratio is achieved in these plasmonic *** gives more insights into the mechanisms in plasmonic filters and is helpful to promote the actual applications.

The laser-induced relativistic shock waves are described. The shock waves can be created directly by a high irradiance laser or indirectly by a laser acceleration of a foil that collides with a second static foil. A special case of interest is the creation of laser-induced fusion where the created alpha particles create a detonation wave. A novel application is suggested with the shock wave or the detonation wave to ignite a pre-compressed target. In particular, the deuterium–tritium fusion is considered. It is suggested that the collision of two laser accelerated foils might serve as a novel relativistic accelerator for bulk material collisions.

The BL08U1 A beamline is established as a sophisticated platform at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF), taking advantage of its high spatial resolution(10 000),for studying properties of solid, liquid, gas, film and other forms of materials at sub-micron scale. In this paper,we present a review on newly implemented techniques, such as total electron yield(TEY), dual energy contrast imaging, nano-CT, soft X-ray excited optical luminance(SXEOL), and coherent diffraction imaging(CDI)under development. Several research cases in nanomaterials, environmental science and biology are presented to demonstrate capabilities of the beamline.

A series of H-shaped （PS）2PEG（PS）2 block copolymers with different PS chain lengths were prepared. The influence of different confinements active on the crystallization and self-nucleation （SN） behavior of the PEG blocks was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry （DSC）. When the content of the crystalline block was high, a classical SN behavior was obtained. The block copolymer with PEG content of 49% （by weight） showed a classical SN behavior with a narrow self-nucleation domain and had bimodal crystallization exotherms. When the PEG dispersed as separated microdomains in the block copolymer, the self-nucleation domain disappeared and only annealing was observed.
