Alkaline leaching mechanism of MSWI bottom ash: the pivotal role of Si(Al) chemical bonding environments

Municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash(MSWIBA) is a complex assemblage of aluminosilicate materials encompassing diverse solid wastes. Thus, its complexity poses great challenges to their resource utilization. For the sake of the alkali activation use of MSWIBA, this work focused on the characterizations and alkaline leaching experiments of various classified MSWIBA after sorting. Among the different categories of MSWIBA, waste glass(BA-G) and other unidentified slags(BA-O) were identified as potential precursors for alkali activation use. The alkaline leaching experiments proved that alkaline concentration, reaction temperature, reaction time, and raw material classification influenced the leaching process and results. Among these, the Si/Al chemical bonding environments from the material type played a pivotal role. When the materials had Qn(n>2) as the primary bonding structure, steric hindrance by the chain frameworks affected the alkali dissolution process, resulting in gradual disintegration from the outer layers inward. For the materials dominated by Q1frameworks, OH-could penetrate the frameworks, leading to their rapid depolymerization and outward dissolution. Overall, the Si/Al bonding environment played a crucial role in alkaline dissolution, providing theoretical guidance for classifying the alkali-activation utilization of MSWIBA and other aluminosilicate solid wastes.

Neuromodulation for diabetic peripheral neuropathy represents a significant area of interest in the management of chronic pain associated with this *** peripheral neuropathy,a common complication of diabetes,is characterized by nerve damage due to high blood sugar levels that lead to symptoms,such as pain,tingling,and numbness,primarily in the hands and *** aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy of neuromodulatory techniques as potential therapeutic interventions for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy,while also examining recent developments in this *** investigation encompassed an array of neuromodulation methods,including frequency rhythmic electrical modulated systems,dorsal root ganglion stimulation,and spinal cord *** systematic review suggests that neuromodulatory techniques may be useful in the treatment of diabetic peripheral *** the advantages of these treatments will enable physicians and other healthcare providers to offer additional options for patients with symptoms refractory to standard pharmacologic *** these efforts,we may improve quality of life and increase functional capacity in patients suffering from complications related to diabetic neuropathy.

Chairman's government background, excess employment and government subsidies: Evidence from Chinese local state-owned enterprises

Local state-owned enterprises(SOEs) in China continue to face government interference in their operations. They are influenced both by the government's"grabbing hand" and by its "helping hand." Our study examines how SOE chairmen with connections to government influence their firm's employment policies and the economic consequences of overstaffing. Using a sample of China's listed local state-owned enterprises, we find that the scale of overstaffing in these SOEs is negatively related to the firms' political connections to government. However,this relationship turns positive when the firm's chairman has a government background. Appointing chairmen who have government backgrounds is a mechanism through which the government can intervene in local SOEs and influence firms' staffing decisions. We also find that in compensation for the expenses of overstaffing, local SOEs receive more government subsidies and bank ***, the chairmen themselves do not get increased pay or promotion opportunities for supporting overstaffing. Further analysis indicates that whereas the "grabbing hand" of government does harm to a firm's economic performance, the "helping hand" provides only weak positive effects, and such government intervention actually reduces the efficiency of social resource allocation.

Cooperative mechanism on a three-echelon supply chain with remanufacturing outsourcing

This paper studies the cooperative mechanism for a three-echelon supply chain with remanufacturing outsourcing comparing a supplier,a manufacturer,and a third-party remanufacturer,wherein we take the relative fairness concerns into *** Stackelberg game theory is introduced to analyze the best values for the supply chain and each *** bargaining solution is used as the relative fairness-concerned reference to discuss the corresponding optimal solutions of these *** determining and comparing the equilibrium solutions across the five models,we discover that given the Nash bargaining fairness-concerned behavior,the system profits in the completely decentralized and three cooperative scenarios are lower than they are for products in the completely centralized decision *** results show that in the centralized channel,the optimal profit and market demand in the three-echelon supply chain are ***,it turns out that a cooperative mechanism can bring great benefits to its performance.

Differentiation-Based Analysis of Environmental management and Corporate Performance

By building a duopoly model based on product differentiation, both of the clean firm＇s and the dirty firm＇s performances are studied under the assumptions that consumers have different preferences for the product environmental attributes, and that the product cost increases with the environmental attribute. The analysis results show that under either the case with no environmental regulation or that with a tariff levied on the dirty product, the clean firm would always get more profit. In addition, the stricter the regulation is, the more profit the clean finn would obtain. This can verify that from the view of product differentiation, a firm could improve its corporate competitiveness with environmental management.

A predictive DEA model for outlier detection

Outlier detection is one of the key issues in any data-driven *** this paper,we propose Bi-super DEA,a super DEA-based method that constructs both efficient and inefficient frontiers for outlier *** evaluating its predictive performance,we develop a novel predictive DEA procedure,PDEA,which extends the conventional DEA approaches that have been primarily used for in-sample efficiency estimation,to predict outputs for the *** enables us to compare the predictive performance of our approach against several popular outlier detection methods including the parametric robust regression in statistics and non-parametric k-means in data *** conduct comprehensive simulation experiments to examine the relative performance of these outlier detection methods under the influence of five factors:sample size,linearity of production function,normality of noise distribution,homogeneity of data,and levels of random noise contaminating the data generating process(DGP).We find that,somewhat surprisingly,Bi-super CCR consistently outperforms Bi-super BCC in detecting *** the linearity,normality and homogeneity conditions,the parametric robust regression method works ***,when the DGP violates these conditions,Bi-super DEA emerges as the better choice due to its distribution-free *** results shed light on the conditions that each method excels or fails and provide users with practical guidelines on how to choose appropriate methods to detect outliers.

Based on joint-innovation patent data from 2000 to 2016 in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region of China,the purpose of this paper is to analyze how technological proximity affects university-industry collaborative innovation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei *** adopt a 1:1 matching design to conduct an empirical *** results show that the effect of technological proximity on the formation of collaborative innovation displays an inverted U-shape,and geographical proximity and institutional proximity play a positive role of forming a *** proximity and institutional proximity as a coordination mechanism,have negatively influenced the relationship between technological proximity and the formation of university-industry collaborative ***,university strength improves the possibility of collaborative *** findings contributed to the understanding of the relationship between technological proximity and collaborative innovation.

Modelling the effects of emission control areas on shipping company operations and environmental consequences

In this study,two integrated game models are developed to explore the possible economic and environmental consequences of Emission control areas(ECA)***,the analytical solutions compared with a benchmark case are *** find that vessel speed and SO_(2)emissions will decrease under the ECA ***,shipping company’s level of competition has no effect on the equivalent *** equivalent freight volume to be reduced or increased is determined by the additional operational cost per voyage due to ECA *** study and sensitivity analysis reveal that the vessel speed and SO_(2)emission reduction are very sensitive to the inventory costs of intransit ***,if low-sulphur marine gas oil is used throughout the voyage,the SO_(2)emission reduction may be greater than 80%,with a low impact on the shipping company’s ***,considering the environmental effects,much stricter limits can be set in the future.
