Microstructure evolution and its influence on thermoplasticity of wide and thick co.tinuous casting slab with heavy reduction

After the heavy reduction(HR)process was carried out at the solidification end of the co.tinuous casting slab,the austenite grains were refined by recrystallization,which improved the thermoplasticity of the ***,the reduction in deformation during the HR process initiated stress co.centration at the slab surface,and the crack risk *** effectively evaluate the risk of slab surface cracks under these co.plex co.ditions,the effect of the HR on the austenite recrystallization and thermoplasticity of a microalloyed slab surface was investigated by 15-pass reduction thermal simulation acco.ding to the wide and thick slab co.tinuous casting *** softening fraction was introduced as a global internal variable to quantitatively analyze various recrystallized re-refined *** the critical strain reaches the critical strain of dynamic recrystallization,a variety of recrystallization modes alternately *** them,the co.tribution rate of dynamic crystallization to the later refinement reaches more than 50%.The co.tribution rates of static recrystallization and metadynamic recrystallization to grain refinement are almost the *** thermoplasticity of the slab surface first increases and then decreases with increasing reduction *** was verified by transmission electron microsco.y that the main reason for the decrease in thermoplasticity is that the dislocation multiplication rate increases,resulting in a sharp increase in stress and a decrease in thermoplasticity.

Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Hot-Dip Galvanized DP steels

In order to simulate the hot-dipped galvanizing of dual-phase （DP） steel （wt%） 0.15C-0.1Si-1.7Mn, the DP steels were obtained by different annealing schedules. The effects of soaking temperature, time, and co.ling rate on ferrite grain, volume fraction of martensite, and the fine structure of martensite were studied. Results showed that the yield strength （YS） of DP steel is sensitive to annealing schedule, while total elongation has no noticeable dependence on annealing schedule. Increasing soaking temperature from 790 to 850 ℃, the YS is the lowest at soaking temperature of 850 ℃. Changing CR1 from 6 to 24 ℃/s, the YS is the highest when CR1 is 12 ℃/s. Increasing soaking time from 30 to 100 s, the YS is the lowest at soaking time of 100 s. Besides, it was found that sufficient movable dislocations within ferrite grains and high martensite volume fraction can eliminate yield point elongation, decrease the YS, and increase ultimate tensile strength. Through TEM observations, it was also found that increasing annealing temperature promotes austenite transformation into twin martensite, and increases volume fraction of martensite at sufficient co.ling rate. With increasing the martensite volume fraction, the deformation substructure in the ferrite is well developed.

The Development of Hot Rolled Automobile Beam steel Plates 500L-Z With Excellent Surface Oxide Layer

This paper has determined the co.positions and hot rolling processes of the hot rolled beam steel plates with excellent surface oxide layer for automobiles by investigating the oxide layer forming principle and its influence factors,and the feature of the steel oxide *** microstructure,mechanical properties,oxide layer shape and structural co.position of the steel plates are analyzed by using metallographic structures examination,SEM analyzing,X-ray diffraction instrument and mechanical properties *** result shows that the trial hot rolled frame steel plates have an excellent oxide layer adhesion,the Fe 3 O 4 proportions is greater than 85% in the oxide layer,and the oxide layer thickness is less than or equal to 10μ*** product has been trial-manufactured more than 100 thousands ton,and used to stamp the beam parts of automobiles straightly in no pickling *** oxide layer scarcely scales off from the steel plates,and the effect is remarkable.

Effect of rare earths on oxidation resistance of heat resistant steel

The application of rare earths(RE) in the Ni saving heat resistant steel was studied by metallosco.y,scanning electron microsco.y(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),X-ray difference(XRD).Because the diffusion of chromium was promoted by RE,a dense and adhesive Cr2O3 layer co.ld form rapidly at the early oxidation stage,which played a effective protection role;the pinning effect of silico. dioxide was enhanced by RE in the internal oxidation layer,which had a block effect on the diffusion of metal ions and oxygen ions at later stage of oxidation and resulted in that the high temperature oxidation rate of RE heat resistant steel was decreased.

Effects of Temperature and Strain Rate on Solid-/Liquid-Phase Flow Behavior of 9Cr18 steel During Thixoforging

A thixoforging process of the 9Cr18 steel was co.ducted in a designed setup, and a kind of multi-diameter co.ponent was fabricated. The effects of the forming temperature and the strain rate on the solid-/liquid-phase flow behavior were discussed. The results showed that functional gradient properties of the 9Cr18 steel co.ld be obtained after thixoforging. Changes of microstructure along radial direction co.ld be obtained. Solid austenite was retained after fast co.ling, and the liquid film enriched in alloying elements was extruded outside to form a dendrite skin layer. As temperature increased, more molten liquid formed during thixoforging. A heterogeneous flow phenomenon was activated as free liquid channels were formed. The macro-separation of solid and liquid phases was critical for the formation of functional gradient properties. Above 1300 ℃, full dendrite skin layer co.ld be formed. The strain rate affected the thixotropic property via influencing the deformation time of thixoforging. In the presence of lower strain rates, there was more time for the flow of liquid metal, which was the key to the extension of the thixotropic stage. High temperatures and low strain rates co.tributed to the formation of full skin layer for the designed specimen. The average thickness of skin layer for current specimen co.ld be over 1000 ktm when thixoforged at 1340 ℃ and under a strain rate of 0.02 s^-1.

As the market demand for clean steel increased,a number of new technologies for clean steel production have been developed in some domestic and foreign steelmaking *** on the existing equipments and technical co.ditions in the No.1 steelmaking plant of Ansteel,a series of clean steel technologies have been integrated including single bay duplex-dephosphorization in steelmaking co.trol technology,high efficiency desulfurization technology,the co.trol technology for nitrogen co.tent during the whole process,the co.trol technology for hydrogen co.tent in VD,and the systematic co.trol technology for oxygen co.tent.A series of process for all kinds of ultra-low phosphorus,ultra-low sulfur and relative low level of inclusions have been designed in clean steel *** process include hot metal desulfurization and slag-off,single bay duplex-dephosphorization in BOF,molten steel slag-off,LF processing,VD processing,and co.tinuous casting with protection,then a stable,low-co.t and large-scale production process has been *** this integrative technology,the sum of 5 major elements including phosphorus,sulfur,oxygen,nitrogen,hydrogen is less than 80×10-6 in high alloy steel scale production,and the industrial applications for clean steel technology have been achieved.

Frictional Heat-Induced Phase Transformation on Train Wheel Surface

By co.bining thermomechanical co.pling finite element analysis with the characteristics of phase transformation [co.tinuous co.ling transformation （CCT） curve], the thermal fatigue behavior of train wheel steel under high speed and heavy load co.ditions was analyzed. The influence of different materials on the formation of the phase transformation zone of the wheel tread was discussed. The result showed that the peak temperature of wheel/track friction zone co.ld be higher than the austenitizing temperature for braking. The depth of the austenitized region co.ld reach a point of 0.9 mm beneath the wheel tread surface. The superco.led austenite is transformed to a hard and brittle martensite layer during the following rapid co.ling process, which may lead to cracking and then spalling on the wheel tread surface. The decrease in carbon co.tents of the train wheel steel helps inhibit the formation of martensite by increasing the austenitizing temperature of the train wheel steel. When the carbon co.tents decrease from 0.7% to 0.4%, the Ac3 of the wheel steel is increased by 45 ℃, and the thickness of the martensite layer is de creased by 30 %, which is helpful in reducing the thermal cycling fatigue of the train wheel tread such as spalling.

Heterogeneous microstructure-induced mechanical responses in EH420 shipbuilding steel welded joint by electro-gas welding processed have been systematically studied by scanning electron microsco.y,electron backscatter diffraction and mechanical *** with the co.rse-grained heat-affected zone(CGHAZ),the weld metal presents higher toughness(129.3 J vs.37.3 J)as it co.tains a large number of acicular ferrites with high-angle grain boundaries(frequency 79.2%)and special grain boundary∑3(frequency 55.3%).Moreover,co.rse austenite grains in CGHAZ and slender martensite–austenite co.stituents between bainite laths may likely facilitate crack *** ferrites and tempered pearlites formed at the junction of the fine-grained heat-affected zone and the intercritical heat-affected zone induced a softened zone with an average hardness of 185 HV0.5,which is the main reason for the occurrence of tensile fracture.

Effect of N-bonding elements on dissolution and precipitation of B in micro B-treated ultra-heavy plate steels has been investigated,utilizing Thermo-Calc thermo-dynamic software and experimental *** calculation results show that Titanium or excessive Aluminum co.tent is effective to bond Nitrogen,preventing BN from forming and thus keeping boron in solid solution in austenite,while Vanadium is *** experiment has also revealed that slight amount of solution Boron by addition of Ti or a little excessive Aluminum is helpful to improve hardenability of the steels.

Individual Grain Orientation and Heterogeneous Deformation in co.d-deformed Interstitial-Free Sheet steel

The co.d rolling deformation textural evolution of an interstitial-free （IF） steel sheet is investigated by experiment and simulation. The microstructure of the IF steel is observed by transmission electron microsco.y （TEM）. The relationship between the deformation behavior of individual grain and the grain orientation are co.nected by Taylor factor M. The results show that the grains with higher Taylor factor are deformed slighter than those with lower ones. By co.sidering the heterogeneous deformation, the texture simulation result can be greatly improved.
