A local rainfall-triggered giant landslide occurred in a region along a high-speed railway on the Qinghai‒Tibetan Plateau

An increasing number of geological hazards along high-speed railways on the Qinghai‒Tibetan Plateau have occurred and have resulted in a profound influence on old infrastructure,which has attracted increasing *** landslide event that occurred on September 15,2022,in Jiujiawan village,Xining city,Qinghai Province,is a typical *** on field investigations and remote sensing interpretations,a comprehensive analysis was conducted on the ***,the potential secondary failure of the current Jiujiawan landslide was assessed using Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in Three Dimensions(FLAC3D).Based on the application of the small baseline subset-interferometric synthetic aperture radar(SBAS-InSAR)technique to SAR images from February 24,2017 to September 14,2022,a significant westward horizontal deformation was found to have been formed prior to the occurrence of the *** maximum annual average deformation rate in the line of sight(LOS)direction reached-45 mm/yr,with a maximum cumulative deformation of-178 *** value was consistent with the continual increase in annual precipitation(2.51 mm/yr)prior to the occurrence of the *** accumulated precipitation before the landslide was 279.8 mm,accounting for 54.2%of the total annual precipitation,with a particularly notable surge in monthly precipitation observed during August(250.3 mm).Additionally,the occurrence of a seismic event with a magnitude of Ms 6.9 in Menyuan County,80 km away from Xining,could be a potential triggering factor to the landslide,as evidenced by an abrupt subsidence alteration observed prior to and following the *** maximum subsidence in the line of sight(LOS)direction exceeded 11 mm,exhibiting a highly consistent spatial distribution with the occurrence range of *** results suggest that the Jiujiawan landslide was likely induced by earthquake events in the early stage and heavy rainfall in the later *** FLAC3D numerical

China established Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province in 2017,which is planned to accommodate about 5 million people,aiming to relieve Beijing city of the functions non-essential to its role as China’s capital and to expedite the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei *** 2017 to 2021,the China Geological survey(CGS)took the lead in multi-factor urban geological surveys involving space,resources,environments,and disasters according to the general requirements of“global vision,international standards,distinctive Chinese features,and future-oriented goals”in Xiong’an New Area,identifying the engineering geologic conditions and geologic environmental challenges of this *** achievements also include a 3D engineering geological structure model for the whole area,along with“one city proper and five clusters”,insights into the ecology and the background endowment of natural resources like land,geothermal resources,groundwater,and wetland of the area before engineering construction,a comprehensive monitoring network of resources and environments in the area,and the“Transparent Xiong’an”geological information platform that is open,shared,dynamically updated,and three-dimensionally ***’s geologists and urban geology have played a significant role in the urban planning and construction of Xiong’an New Area,providing whole-process geological solutions for urban planning,construction,operation and *** future urban construction of Xiong’an New Area will necessitate the theoretical and technical support of earth system science(ESS)from various aspects,and the purpose is to enhance the resilience of the new type of city and to provide support for the green,low-carbon,and sustainable development of this area.

Effect of coral sand on the mechanical properties and hydration mechanism of magnesium potassium phosphate cement mortar

Damaged structures on coral islands have been spalling and cracking due to the dual corrosion of tides and *** ensure easy access to aggregate materials,magnesium potassium phosphate cement(MKPC)and coral sand(CS)are mixed to repair damaged structures on coral ***,CS is significantly different from land-sourced sand in mineral composition,particle morphology,and *** has a substantial impact on the hydration characteristics and macroscopic properties of MKPC ***,in this study we investigated the compressive strength,interfacial mechanical properties,and corrosion resistance of MKPC CS *** in the morphology,microstructure,and relative contents of hydration products were revealed by scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometer(SEM-EDS)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).The results indicated that the compressive strength increased linearly with the interfacial micro-hardness,and then stabilized after long-term immersion in pure water and Na2SO4 solution,showing excellent corrosion *** with MKPC river sand(RS)mortar,the hydration products of CS mortar were an intermediate product 6KPO2·8H2O with a relative content of 3.9%at 1 h and 4.1%at 12 *** hydration product MgKPO_(4)·6H_(2)O increased rapidly after 7-d curing,with an increased growth rate of 1100%.Our results showed that CS promoted the nucleation and formation of hydration products of MKPC,resulting in better crystallinity,tighter overlapping,and a denser interfacial transition *** results of this study provide technical support for applying MKPC mortar as a rapid repair material for damaged structures on coral islands.

Basic Research on the Burden of Dropping off and Picking up Children: Differences by Employment Type and Gender in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area

There is a need to reduce the burden of child drop-off and pick-up for child-rearing generations, but most studies on the actual situation in Japan are based on survey results. In this study, we analyzed differences in child drop-off and pick-up by employment type and gender, utilizing the “Metropolitan Area Person Trip survey,” which is a statistical data set. The study targeted households in which both spouses were between 30 and 49 years old, had children under the age of 6, and included the following three groups. 1) Dual-income Group 1 (both spouses employed/on contract/temporary);2) Dual-income Group 2 (husband employed/on contract/temporary, wife part-time);3) Full-time housewife group (husband employed, wife unemployed). The analysis revealed that a) wives are almost always responsible for dropping off and picking up their children;b) husbands drop off and pick up their children less frequently in dual-income households;and c) households with children raising within 10 to 30 km of Tokyo Station have longer commuting times and need to reduce the burden of dropping off and picking up their children.

Estimates of net primary productivity and actual evapotranspiration over the Tibetan Plateau from the Community land Model version 4.5 with four atmospheric forcing datasets

The accuracy of the simulation of carbon and water processes largely relies on the selection of atmospheric forcing datasets when driving land surface models(LSM).Particularly in high-altitude regions,choosing appropriate atmospheric forcing datasets can effectively reduce uncertainties in the LSM ***,this study conducted four offline LSM simulations over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)using the Community land Model version 4.5(CLM4.5)driven by four state-of-the-art atmospheric forcing *** performances of CRUNCEP(CLM4.5 model default)and three other reanalysis-based atmospheric forcing datasets(***,GSWP3 and WFDEI)in simulating the net primary productivity(NPP)and actual evapotranspiration(ET)were evaluated based on in situ and gridded reference *** with in situ observations,simulated results exhibited determination coefficients(R2)ranging from 0.58 to 0.84 and 0.59 to 0.87 for observed NPP and ET,respectively,among which GSWP3 and ITPCAS showed superior *** the plateau level,CRUNCEP-based simulations displayed the largest bias compared with the reference NPP and ***3-based simulations demonstrated the best performance when comprehensively considering both the magnitudes and change trends of TP-averaged NPP and *** simulated ET increase over the TP during 1982-2010 based on ITPCAS was significantly greater than in the other three simulations and reference ET,suggesting that ITPCAS may not be appropriate for studying long-term ET changes over the *** results suggest that GSWP3 is recommended for driving CLM4.5 in conducting long-term carbon and water processes simulations over the *** study contributes to enhancing the accuracy of LSM in water-carbon simulations over alpine regions.

Large‐scale underground hydrogen storage(UHS)provides a promising method for increasing the role of hydrogen in the process of carbon neutrality and energy *** all the existing storage deposits,salt caverns are recognized as ideal sites for pure hydrogen *** and optimization of site selection for hydrogen storage facilities in salt caverns have become significant *** this article,the software CiteSpace is used to analyze and filter hot topics in published *** on a detailed classification and analysis,a“four‐factor”model for the site selection of salt cavern hydrogen storage is proposed,encompassing the dynamic demands of hydrogen energy,geological,hydrological,and ground factors of salt ***,20 basic indicators for comprehensive suitability grading of the target site were screened using the analytic hierarchy process and expert survey methods were adopted,which provided a preliminary site selection system for salt cavern hydrogen ***,the developed system was applied for the evaluation of salt cavern hydrogen storage sites in the salt mines of Pingdingshan city,Henan Province,thereby confirming its rationality and *** research provides a feasible method and theoretical basis for the site selection of UHS in salt caverns in China.

Field survey and analysis on near-fault severely damaged high-speed railway bridge in 2022 M6.9 Menyuan earthquake

The 2022 M6.9 Menyuan earthquake caused severe damage to a high-speed railway bridge,which was designed for high-speed trains running at speeds of above 250 km/h and is located right next to the *** of this type have been widely used for rapidly constructing the high-speed railway network,but few bridges have been tested by near-fault devastating *** potential severe impact of the earthquake on the high-speed railway is not only the safety of the infrastructure,trains and passengers,but also economic loss due to interrupted railway ***,a field survey was carried out immediately after the earthquake to collect time-sensitive *** damage to the bridge was carefully investigated,and quantitative analyses were conducted to better understand the mechanism of the bridge *** was found that seismic action perpendicular to the bridge’s longitudinal direction caused severe damage to the girders and rails,while none of the piers showed obvious deformation or *** maximum values of transverse displacement,out-of-plane rotation and twisting angle of girders reached 212.6 cm,3.1 degrees and 19.9 degrees,respectively,causing severe damage to the bearing supports and anti-seismic retaining *** observations provide a basis for improving the seismic design of high-speed railway bridges located in near-fault areas.

Analysis of Urban Agglomeration Network Structure Based on Baidu Migration Data: A Case Study of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Urban Agglomeration

The inter-city linkage heat data provided by Baidu Migration is employed as a characterization of inter-city linkages in order to facilitate the study of the network linkage characteristics and hierarchical structure of urban agglomeration in the Greater Bay Area through the use of social network analysis *** is the inaugural application of big data based on location services in the study of urban agglomeration network structure,which represents a novel research perspective on this *** study reveals that the density of network linkages in the Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration has reached 100%,indicating a mature network-like spatial *** structure has given rise to three distinct communities:Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou,Guangzhou-Foshan-Zhaoqing,and ***,cities within the Greater Bay Area urban agglomeration play different roles,suggesting that varying development strategies may be necessary to achieve staggered *** study demonstrates that large datasets represented by LBS can offer novel insights and methodologies for the examination of urban agglomeration network structures,contingent on the appropriate mining and processing of the data.
