Robust autofocusing propagation in turbulence

Turbulence in complex environments such as the atmosphere and biological media has always been a great challenge to the application of beam propagation in optical communication, optical trapping and manipulation. To overcome this challenge, this study comprehensively investigates the robust propagation of traditional Gaussian and autofocusing beams in turbulent environments. In order to select stable beams that exhibit high intensity and high field gradient at the focal position in complex environments, Kolmogorov turbulence theory is used to simulate the propagation of beams in atmospheric turbulence based on the multi-phase screen method. We systematically analyze the intensity fluctuations, the variation of the coherence factor and the change in the scintillation index with propagation distance. The analysis reveals that the intensity fluctuations of autofocusing beams are significantly smaller than those of Gaussian beams, and the coherence of autofocusing beams is better than that of Gaussian beams under turbulence. Moreover, autofocusing beams exhibit less oscillation than Gaussian beams, indicating that autofocusing beams propagate in complex environments with less distortion and intensity fluctuation. Overall, this work clearly demonstrates that autofocusing beams exhibit higher stability in propagation compared with Gaussian beams, showing great promise for applications such as optical trapping and manipulation in complex environments.

Recently,nonadiabatic geometric quantum computation has been received great attentions,due to its fast operation and intrinsic error resilience.However,compared with the corresponding dynamical gates,the robustness of implemented nonadiabatic geometric gates based on the conventional single-loop geometric scheme still has the same order of magnitude due to the requirement of strict multi-segment geometric controls,and the inherent geometric fault-tolerance characteristic is not fully explored.Here,we present an effective geometric scheme combined with a general dynamical-corrected technique,with which the super-robust nonadiabatic geometric quantum gates can be constructed over the conventional single-loop geometric and two-loop composite-pulse geometric strategies,in terms of resisting the systematic error,i.e.,σ_(x)error.In addition,combined with the decoherence-free subspace(DFS)coding,the resulting geometric gates can also effectively suppress theσ_(z)error caused by the collective dephasing.Notably,our protocol is a general one with simple experimental setups,which can be potentially implemented in different quantum systems,such as Rydberg atoms,trapped ions and superconducting qubits.These results indicate that our scheme represents a promising way to explore large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computation.

Predictors of contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients with coronary artery disease receiving contrast agents twice within 30 days

Background:None of study mentioned about contrast-induced acute kidney injury(CI-AKI)in people who have received contrast agents twice within in a short period of time.This study is trying to identify the predictors.Methods:We enrolled 607 patients between Oct.2010 and Jul.2015 who received contrast agents twice within 30 days in the Department of Cardiology of the General Hospital of Shenyang Military Region.The primary outcome was CI-AKI within 72 h after contrast agent exposure.Patients were divided into groups A(n=559)and group B(n=48)according to whether CI-AKI occurred after the second agent.Results:Patients in group B(CI-AKI occurred after the second agent)had a more rapid heart rate and more usage of diuretics and digitalis.In group B,CI-AKI occurred more frequently after the first agent.Multivariate logistic regression showed that diuretic(P=0.006)and intra-aortic balloon pump(IABP)usage(P=0.012)were independent predictors of CI-AKI after the first agent.Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor/AngiotensinⅡreceptor antagonist(ACEI/ARB)usage(P=0.039),IABP usage(P=0.040)and CI-AKI occurring after administration of the first agent(P=0.015)were independent predictors of CI-AKI after the second.Furthermore,dividing the patients into tertiles of the time interval between the two agents showed that CI-AKI occurred more frequently when the second agent was administered within 1–3 days after the first exposure than within 4–6 days(12.4%vs.5.0%,P=0.008)or≥7 days(12.4%vs.6.4%,P=0.039).Conclusions:Diuretic and IABP usage are independent predictors of CI-AKI following exposure to a first contrast agent.The major predictors of CI-AKI after exposure to a second agent are time since the first contrast exposure,ACEI/ARB usage,and IABP usage.More importantly,a three-day interval between the two agents is associated with a higher incidence of CI-AKI following the second administration.

Effects of Different Seedling Raising Substrates on Quality of Rice Seedlings

Five different seedling raising substrates were used to take the place of the nutrient soil to cultivate rice seedling mechanical transplanting in anqing,Anhui Province.The emergence rate,survival rate,quality of aboveground parts of seedlings,root system and dry weight and fresh weight were surveyed and analyzed.The results showed that the rice seedling raising substrates could significantly improve the seedling quality and survival rate of mechanically transplanted seedlings,especially the seedling raising substrates produced by Anhui Province Lufu Agriculture Science and Technology Stock Co.,Ltd.and Anhui anqing Yike Seedling Material Co.,Ltd.Finally,it is recommended to promote the seedling raising substrate in large area,to lay a solid foundation for realizing high yield,high quality,and high efficiency of rice.

Influence of river-lake isolation on the water level variations of Caizi Lake, lower reach of the Yangtze River

In order to explore the water level variations of Caizi Lake under river-lake isolation,the monthly water level of the Chefuling station in Caizi Lake from 1989 to 2018 and the daily water level,rainfall and flow of local hydrological stations in 2018 were analyzed by using the Mann-Kendall trend test and wavelet analysis.Results showed that the difference of the average water level of Caizi Lake between the flood and dry seasons was 3.34 m,with a multi-year average water level of 10.42 m above sea level.The first and second main periods of the water level of Caizi Lake were 128 and 18 months,respectively,with 4 and 29"up-down"cycles,respectively.From 2018,the next 3-4 years were likely to be the low water level period.The water level of Caizi Lake was significantly correlated with that of the anqing hydrological station of the Yangtze River(r=0.824,Presearch.

Measurement of molybdenum ion density for L-mode and H-mode plasma discharges in the EAST tokamak

We report the measurement of total molybdenum ion density for L-mode and H-mode plasmas on EAST using spectral lines observation and calculation based on an impurity transport code.A flat-filed extreme ultraviolet spectrometer with some spatial resolution is used to obtain the radial profiles of molybdenum spectral line emissions.The absolute calibration for the extreme ultraviolet spectrometer is finished by comparing the calculated bremsstrahlung intensity with the readings of CCD detector.Molybdenum ion transport study is performed using the radial ion density profiles and one-dimensional impurity transport code STRAHL.The total molybdenum density profiles are determined from the transport analysis.The molybdenum density during L-mode and H-mode phases are obtained,which are about 3 and 4 orders of magnitude smaller than the electron density,respectively.An inward pinch is found during the H-mode phase that leads to the peaked profile of molybdenum density.

AGN Lifetimes in UV-selected Galaxies: A Clue to Supermassive Black Hole-galaxy Coevolution

The coevolution between supermassive black holes(SMBHs) and their host galaxies has been proposed for more than a decade,albeit with little direct evidence about black hole accretion activities regulating galaxy star formation at z> 1.In this paper,we study the lifetimes of X-ray active galactic nuclei(AGNs) in UV-selected red sequence(RS),blue cloud(BC) and green valley(GV) galaxies,finding that AGN accretion activities are most prominent in GV galaxies at z ~1.5-2,compared with RS and BC galaxies.We also compare AGN accretion timescales with typical color transition timescales of UV-selected galaxies.We find that the lifetime of GV galaxies at z~1.5-2 is very close to the typical timescale when the AGNs residing in them stay in the high-accretion-rate mode at these redshifts;for BC galaxies,the consistency between the color transition timescale and the black hole strong accretion lifetime is more likely to happen at lower redshifts(z <1).Our results support the scenario where AGN accretion activities govern UV color transitions of host galaxies,making galaxies and their central SMBHs coevolve with each other.

Impurity Emission Behavior in the Soft X-Ray and Extreme Ultraviolet Range on EAST

Spectroscopy in the soft X-ray and extreme ultraviolet （XEUV） region is very im- portant in magnetic fusion research. Recently, two fiat-field spectrometers that utilize a varied line spacing grating to image the spectra of 1-13 nm and 5-50 nm were installed on EAST for core impurity emission monitoring and impurity transport study. The instruments were proven to be capable of observing spectral lines from low-Z impurities （Li, C, O, N, Ar, etc.） and highly ionized medium- and high-Z impurities （Fe, Cr, Ni, Cu, Mo, etc.）. For example, spectra in the wavelength intervals of 1-2 nm and 5-13 nm contained strong metal lines~ especially molybdenum lines during H-mode phases. Argon and nitrogen lines were also observed, which were injected for diagnostic purposes. Impurity lines were identified and compared to measurements on other magnetic fusion research devices. Detailed measurements of radial emission profiles from various impurity line emissions were also presented.

Pyrrole derivatives as interlayer modifier of Li-S batteries:Modulation of electrochemical performance by molecular perturbation

The electrochemical performance of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries is strongly hampered by the shuttle effect and slow redox kinetics of lithium polysulfides(Li PSs).Surface modified interlayer of a separator of Li-S batteries is demonstrated to be an effective strategy to overcome this problem.Herein,cobalt nanoparticles confined in nitrogen co-doped porous carbon framework(Co-CN)were developed from pyrolysis of ZIF-67 and used as interlayer of PP separator for Li-S batteries,and were functionalized by four pyrrole derivatives,1-phenylpyrrole,1-methyl pyrrole,1-(p-toluenesulfonyl)pyrrole,and 1-pyrrole,respectively,which were screened in terms of the electron-withdrawing/donating ability of the substituent groups on the pyrrolic nitrogen.The impact of the molecular structure of pyrrole derivatives on the interaction with Li PSs and the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries were explored by nuclear magnetic resonance and theoretical calculation.It is uncovered that 1-phenylpyrrole shows the highest enhancement of redox kinetics of Li PSs,attributing to the optimal interaction with Co nanoparticles and Li PSs.Therefore,1-phenylpyrrole modified Co-CN interlayer enables the best electrochemical performance for the Li-S batteries,delivering a specific capacity of 562 m Ah g^(-1)at 5 C and a capacity of 538,526,and 449 m Ah g^(-1)after 500 cycles at 1,2,and 3 C,respectively.At a high sulfur loading of 5.5 mg cm^(-2),it achieves a capacity of 440 m Ah g^(-1)after 500 cycles at 1 C.This work reveals the interaction mechanism among Li PSs,Co nanoparticles and the molecular modifiers in improving the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries.
