Semantic Segmentation of Lumbar Vertebrae Using Meijering U-Net(MU-Net)on Spine Magnetic Resonance Images

Lower back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the world and it is experienced by a huge percentage of people *** to its ability to produce a detailed view of the soft tissues,including the spinal cord,nerves,intervertebral discs,and vertebrae,Magnetic Resonance Imaging is thought to be the most effective method for imaging the *** semantic segmentation of vertebrae plays a major role in the diagnostic process of lumbar *** is difficult to semantically partition the vertebrae in Magnetic Resonance Images from the surrounding variety of tissues,including muscles,ligaments,and intervertebral discs.U-Net is a powerful deep-learning architecture to handle the challenges of medical image analysis tasks and achieves high segmentation *** work proposes a modified U-Net architecture namely MU-Net,consisting of the Meijering convolutional layer that incorporates the Meijering filter to perform the semantic segmentation of lumbar vertebrae L1 to L5 and sacral vertebra ***-colour mask images were generated and used as ground truth for training the *** work has been carried out on 1312 images expanded from T1-weighted mid-sagittal MRI images of 515 patients in the Lumbar Spine MRI Dataset publicly available from Mendeley *** proposed MU-Net model for the semantic segmentation of the lumbar vertebrae gives better performance with 98.79%of pixel accuracy(PA),98.66%of dice similarity coefficient(DSC),97.36%of Jaccard coefficient,and 92.55%mean Intersection over Union(mean IoU)metrics using the mentioned dataset.

Accurate medical diagnosis,which involves identifying diseases based on patient symptoms,is often hindered by uncertainties in data interpretation and *** fuzzy set theories have emerged as effective tools to address these *** this paper,new mathematical approaches for handling uncertainty in medical diagnosis are introduced using q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets(q-ROFS)and interval-valued q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets(IVq-ROFS).Three aggregation operators are proposed in our methodologies:the q-ROF weighted averaging(q-ROFWA),the q-ROF weighted geometric(q-ROFWG),and the q-ROF weighted neutrality averaging(qROFWNA),which enhance decision-making under *** operators are paired with ranking methods such as the similarity measure,score function,and inverse score function to improve the accuracy of disease ***,the impact of varying q-rung values is explored through a sensitivity analysis,extending the analysis beyond the typical maximum value of *** Basic Uncertain Information(BUI)method is employed to simulate expert opinions,and aggregation operators are used to combine these opinions in a group decisionmaking *** results provide a comprehensive comparison of methodologies,highlighting their strengths and limitations in diagnosing diseases based on uncertain patient data.

A Distributed Mechanism for Handling of Adaptive/Intelligent Selfish Misbehaviour at MAC Layer in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Medium access control （MAC） protocols such as IEEE 802.11 are used in wireless networks for sharing of the wireless medium. The random nature of the protocol operation together with the inherent difficulty of monitoring in the open poses significant challenges. All nodes are expected to comply with the protocol rules. But, some nodes in order to gain greater benefits misbehave by not complying with the rules. One such selfish misbehavior is waiting for smaller back-off intervals when compared to the other nodes in the same subnet. Such selfish misbehavior is being tackled in this paper. A diagnosis scheme and a penalty scheme are being proposed for overcoming such selfish-misbehavior at MAC layer of mobile ad hoc networks which could be extended to other types of networks also.

Light Weight Cryptographic Address Generation(LW-CGA) Using System State Entropy Gathering for IPv6 Based MANETs

In IPv6 based MANETs, the neighbor discovery enables nodes to self-configure and communicate with neighbor nodes through autoconfiguration. The Stateless address autoconfiguration(SLAAC) has proven to face several security issues. Even though the Secure Neighbor Discovery(SeND) uses Cryptographically Generated Addresses(CGA) to address these issues, it creates other concerns such as need for CA to authenticate hosts, exposure to CPU exhaustion attacks and high computational intensity. These issues are major concern for MANETs as it possesses limited bandwidth and processing power. The paper proposes empirically strong Light Weight Cryptographic Address Generation(LW-CGA) using entropy gathered from system states. Even the system users cannot monitor these system states; hence LW-CGA provides high security with minimal computational complexity and proves to be more suitable for MANETs. The LW-CGA and SeND are implemented and tested to study the performances. The evaluation shows that LW-CGA with good runtime throughput takes minimal address generation latency.

Synthesis and photoluminescence properties of zinc sulfide nanoparticles doped with copper using effective surfactants

Zinc sulfide （ZnS）, various concentrations of Cu2＋（0.25%-1.25%）-doped ZnS and ZnS：Cu2~ nanoparticles capped with various surfactants have been successfully synthesized by a chemical precipitation method in ambient air at 80 ~C. The synthesized particles were characterized by UV-visible absorption （UV-vis）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, and Fourier transform infrared （FT-1R） and photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy. The absorption peaks of the synthesized nanoparticles were noticeably blue-shifted from the bulk material. The XRD analysis confirmed the formation of a cubic phase for all samples. The average size of the particles ranged from 3.2 to 5.3 nm. The TEM analysis showed that the particles were highly monodispersed and spherical in shape. Particles with increased Cu2＋ concentrations had a red shift in their PL emission spectra. Enhanced PL emissions were observed for surfactant-capped particles. The experimental results indicate that, as expected, the PL spectrum confirms the presence of Cu2＋ ions in the ZnS nanoparticles.

Weibull Probability Model for Fracture Strength of Aluminium (1101)-Alumina Particle Reinforced Metal Matrix Composite

In recent times, conventional materials are replaced by metal matrix composites （MMCs） due to their high specific strength and modulus. Strength reliability, one of the key factors restricting wider use of composite materials in various applications, is commonly characterized by Weibull strength distribution function. In the present work, statistical analysis of the strength data of 15% volume alumina particle （mean size 15 um） reinforced in aluminum alloy （1101 grade alloy） fabricated by stir casting method was carried out using Weibull probability model. Twelve tension tests were performed according to ASTM B577 standards and the test data, the corresponding Weibull distribution was obtained. Finally the reliability of the composite behavior in terms of its fracture strength was presented to ensure the reliability of composites for suitable applications. An important implication of the present study is that the Weibull distribution describes the experimentally measured strength data more appropriately.

Experimental investigation of anodized/spray pyrolysed nanoporous structure on heat transfer augmentation

This paper analyzes the effects of nanoporous surface on heat transfer temperaments of assorted thermal conductingmaterials. A phenomenal proposal of wielding the surface roughness to ameliorate the heat transfer ratehas been discovered. The maximum increase of heat transfer rate procured by nanoporous layers is 133.3% higherthan the polished bare metals of surface roughness 0.2μm. This plays an imperative role in designing compact refrigerationsystems, chemical and thermal power plants. Experimental results picture a formidable upswing of58.3% heat transfer in chemically etched metals of surface roughness 3 μm, 133.3% in nanoporous surface of porosity75-95 nm formed by electrochemical anodization, and porosity of 40-50 nm formed by spray pyrolysis increasesthe heat transfer by 130%. Effects of porosity, flow velocity and scaling on the energy transfer are alsoscrutinized. This paper also analyzes the multifarious modes of nanoporous fabrication, to contrive both prodigiousand provident system.

Effect of fiber orientation in uni-directional glass epoxy laminate using acoustic emission monitoring

Acoustic emission （AE） can be used for in situ structural health monitoring of the composite laminates. One of the main issues of AE is to characterize different damage mechanisms from the detected AE signals. In the present work, pure resin and GFRP composites laminates with different stacking sequences such as 0°, 90°, angle ply[±45°], cross-ply [0°/90°] are used to trigger different failure mechanisms when subjected to tensile test with AE monitoring. The study of failure mechanisms is facilitated by the choice of different oriented specimens in which one or two such mechanisms predominate. Range of peak frequencies in each orientation is investigated using FFT analysis. Fast Fourier Transform （FFT） enabled calculating the frequency content of each damage mechanism. Randomly selected hits from each range of peak frequencies for the specimens with different orientations subjected to tensile test with AE monitoring are analyzed using short time FFT （STFFT） analysis. STFFT analysis is used to highlight the possible failure mechanism associated with each signal. The predominance of failure modes in each orientation is useful in the study of discrimination of failure modes in composite laminates from AE data.

Analysis on Critical Success Factors for Agile Manufacturing Evaluation in Original Equipment Manufacturing Industry-An AHP Approach

Manufacturing industries are facing challenges in the implementation of agile manufacturing in their products and processes. Agility is widely accepted as a new competitive concept in the manufacturing sector in fulfilling varying customer demand. Thus, evaluation of agile manufacturing in industries has become a necessity. The success of an organisation depends on its ability to manage finding the critical success factors and give them special and continued attention in order to bring about high performance. This paper proposes a set of critical success factors （CSFs） for evaluating agile manufacturing considered appropriate for the manufacturing sector. The analytical hierarchy process （AHP） method is applied for prioritizing the success factors, by summarizing the opinions of experts. It is believed that the proposed CSFs enable and assist manufacturing industries to achieve a higher performance in agile manufacturing so as to increase competitiveness.
