Wild fodder plants are valuable because they provide an important livestock feed resource globally,especially for smallholder farmers,and have important roles in natural resource ***-depth knowledge of wild forage plants can motivate local people for feed resource and habitat conservation of threatened herbivores such as Mithun(Bos frontalis).Mithun occur in small patches in the mountains of Dulongjiang,nearby villagers domesticated this animal but left animal to freely graze in the *** fodder plants occur in these mountains,however,little is known about their nutritional *** conducted an ethnobotanical survey to document important wild fodder plants consumed by mithun in the Dulongjiang *** nutritional content of 21 highly mentioned wild fodder plants in an ethnobotanical survey was *** analysis showed that Fagopyrum dibotrys were the fodder species with the highest crude protein(CP)content(26.89%),followed by Polygonum molle(21.88%)and Hydrangea longipes(21.12%).Synthesis of relative feed value index and grey relational grade,***,*** and Tetrastigma obtectum were ranked the top three nutritional *** was a significant difference between 21 species on their in vitro digestibility and the most highly digestible fodder species was Elatostema *** model analysis on relationship between frequency of citation of 21 wild forage plants by local farmers and their nutrient composition showed that the frequency was significantly positively correlated with the nutritional value of the feed(R2?0.28,P<0.05).We concluded that these species have high nutritional values to improve mithun production in integrated crop-livestock *** species or mixtures of species with useful nutritional characters could be cultivated to improve livestock productivity,habitat conservation including that of mithun and wild forage resource management.

Soil aggregation and aggregate associated organic carbon and total nitrogen under long-term contrasting soil management regimes in loess soil

This study investigated the effects of three contrasting soil management regimes and different nutrient treatments on the distribution of water-stable aggregates（〉2, 1–2, 0.5–1, 0.25–0.5, and 〈0.25 mm） and associated soil organic carbon（SOC） and total nitrogen（TN） content in loess soil. A 21-yr long-term experiment was performed, in which soil management regimes include cropland abandonment（Abandonment）, bare fallow（Fallow） and wheat-fallow cropping（Cropping）. Under Cropping, the following nutrient treatments were employed： control（CK, no nutrient input）, nitrogen only（N）, nitrogen and potassium（NK）, phosphorus and potassium（PK）, NP, NPK, and manure（M） plus NPK（MNPK）. Results demonstrated that Abandonment significantly increased the content of soil macro-aggregates（〉0.25 mm） and mean weight diameter（MWD） at 0–10 and 10–20 cm soil horizons compared with Cropping, whereas Fallow yielded lower values of above two parameters. Abandonment increased SOC and TN contents in all aggregate sizes by 17–62% and 6–60%, respectively, at 0–10 cm soil layer compared with Cropping. Conversely, Fallow decreased SOC and TN contents in all aggregates by 7–27% and 7–25%, respectively. Nevertheless, the three soil management regimes presented similar SOC contents in all aggregates at 10–20 cm soil horizon. Only Cropping showed higher TN content in 〉0.5 mm aggregates than the two other regimes. Consequently, Abandonment enhanced the partitioning proportions of SOC and TN in 〉1 mm macro-aggregates, and Fallow promoted these proportions in micro-aggregates compared with Cropping. Under Cropping, long-term fertilization did not affect the distribution of aggregates and MWD values compared with those under CK, except for NPK treatment. Fertilizer treatments enhanced SOC and TN contents in aggregates at all tested soil depths. The origin of invasion of an alien frog species in Tibet, China

Identifying the origins of alien species has important implications for effectively controlling the spread of alien species. The black-spotted frog Pelophylax nigromaculatus, originally from East Asia, has become an alien species on the Tibetan Plateau （TP）. In this study, we collected 300 individuals of P. nigromaculatus from 13 native regions and 2 invasive regions （including Nyingchi and Lhasa） on the TP. To identify the source region of the TP introductions, we sequenced portions of the mitochondrial cyt b gene. We sequenced a -600-bp portion of the mitochondrial cyt b gene to identify 69 haplotypes （124 polymorphic sites） in all sampled populations. According to the network results, we suggest that the P. nigromaculatus found on the TP was most likely originated from Chongqing by human introduction. Furthermore, we found that the genetic diversity was significantly lower for invasive than for native sites due to founder effects. Our study provides genetic evidence that this alien species invaded the cold environment of high elevations and expanded the distribution of P. nigromaculatus in China.

[ Objective] To express lactate dehydrogenase C （LDH-C） gene in prokaryotic system and then purify the recombinant protein. E Meth- od] The LDI-I-C gene was amplified from black-lipped pika（ Ochotona curzoniae） by RT-PCR and ligated to the expression vector pET-32a. The E. coli BL21 （DE3） carrying the LDI-I-C gene was obtained and induced by IPTG （isopropy-beta-D-thiogalactoside）. The expression products were analyzed by SDS-PAGE and purified by affinity chromatography. L Result] An approximately 1.0 kbp band appeared in the RT-PCR products as the- oretically expected. As evidenced by PCR and double enzyme digestion, an approximately 1.0 kbp fragment appeared, which indicated successful construction of expression vector. As analyzed by SDS-PAGE, a fusion protein with molecular weight slightly larger than 45 kDa was expressed in form of inclusion body. Dopamine D2 receptor(DRD2) gene,a member of the dopamine receptors gene family,has been studied as a candidate gene for broodiness due to its special effects on avian prolactin ***,the genomic DNA and cDNA sequences of goose(Anser cygnoides) DRD2 gene were cloned and characterized for the first *** goose DRD2 cDNA is1 353 bp in length and encodes a protein of 450 amino *** length of goose DRD2 genomic DNA is 8 350 bp,including seven exons and six *** identified four goose DRD2 variants,which were generated due to alternative *** analysis indicates that all the deduced DRD2 amino acid sequences contain seven putative transmembrane domains and four potential N-glycosylation sites.A phylogenetic tree based on amino acid sequences displays that the goose DRD2 protein is closely related to those of avian ***-quantitative RT-PCR analysis demonstrates that the DRD2-1,DRD2-2 and DRD2-4 transcripts are differentially expressed in pituitary,ovary,hypothalamus,as well as in kidney,whereas the DRD2-3 transcript is widely expressed in all the examined tissues at different ***,54 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and 4 insert-deletion(indel) variations were identified in the coding region and partial intron region of the goose DRD2 *** findings will help us gain insight into the functions of the DRD2 gene in geese.

Study on Seed Bank Composition and Seedling Emergence Regularity in Placer Iron Ore Soil

The mining of placer iron ore greatly influences the surrounding desert *** Agdala Town,Qinghe county,Xinjiang,the soil seed bank is severely damaged,and the utilization and productivity of desert grasslands are almost zero,which seriously affects the safety of the ecological environment and the development of local animal *** is very important to supplement soil seed banks to enhance the species composition of desert grasslands after ecological *** this study,the effects of the seed bank,species composition,and seed burial depth on the seedling emergence rate at placer iron ore site before and after artificial seed bank replenishment were compared using the germination tray *** original soil seed bank in the study area contained only four species,which were all annual *** dominant species were Salsola ruthenica and Corispermum orientale,and the soil seed bank density was very *** emergence regularity of the soil seed bank was closely related to water content,and the emergence of annual vegetation was *** burial depth affected the emergence rate of perennial grass,and we determined that a burial depth of 0–5 cm was the most effective for *** indicates that seedling emergence of artificially supplemented soil seed bank can be completed within 7 days if the sowing depth is appropriate;sowing depths greater than 5 cm affect seed *** findings provide a basis for selecting species to populate large areas.

Effects of Different Afforestation Techniques on Soil Nutrients in Populus alba Woodland

[Objective] The research aimed to study the influence of different afforestation technology measures on soil nutrients of P. alba wood-land in arid valley region of Rikaze, Tibet. It aimed to improve afforestation technology measure in arid valley region of Rikaze, Tibet, and provide theoretic basis for restoring the degraded ecosystem at upper reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. [ Method] In arid valley region of Duojiao Vil-lage, Nanmulin county, Rikaze City, the planted land using rooting powder, egg shell, leaves, mud and water retention agent was taken as re-search object, while the land without any afforestation measures was taken as the control, to determine soil nutrients under different afforestation measures. [Result] Under different afforestation measures, the contents of various soil nutrients were all obviously higher than control, in which available potassium, available phosphorus, alkali hydrolysable nitrogen and organic matter in soil obviously increased than control, but there was no similar rule among different measures. [Conclusion] Vegetation restoration in dry valley belt of Rikaze by different afforestation measures is favorable for improving physical-chemical properties of soil and increasing soil fertility.
