Towards experimental studying the airborne sound insulation of light frame walls with staggered studs

Light frame walls(LFWs) serve as common partition walls in prefabricated buildings due to their lightweight nature, costeffectiveness, energy efficiency, and adaptability for rapid on-site assembly. However, their acoustic insulation capability is hindered by issues such as sound bridges, resonance, and coincidence dips, resulting in inadequate sound insulation. This study aims to propose LFW designs with superior acoustic insulation suitable for practical engineering while meeting prevailing national standards. Nine full-scale LFW configurations were subjected to laboratory testing to evaluate the impact of staggered stud arrangements, stud types, and incorporation of compounded materials. The tests were performed between 100 and 5000 Hz,and the sound pressure level and reverberation time at 1/3 octave band were measured and used to calculate the weighted sound insulation index(Rw). Results demonstrated that the outlined design modifications significantly enhanced the sound insulation of the LFW. These modifications effectively mitigate the influence of sound bridges while addressing resonance and coincidence dips inherent in the wall system. Particularly noteworthy was the superior sound insulation achieved by staggered-stud LFWs with compounded materials, surpassing that of autoclaved lightweight concrete walls commonly used in prefabricated constructions despite having lesser thickness and surface density. Rwvalues increased from 43 to 54 dB compared to conventional LFWs, translating to a notable elevation in airborne sound insulation level from 4 to 7 as an internal separation component,meeting the requisite standards for most applications.

Energy band modulation of N-doped rutile/anatase TiO2 photoanode promoting charge separation toward prominent photoelectrochemical performance

To solve the problem of high photogenerated carrier recombination rate and low photoelectric conversion efficiency of TiO2-based materials,a simple N-doped anatase/rutile TiO2heterophase nanorod film was designed by a low-temperature hydrothermal method in this *** enhanced separation and transport of photogenerated charges were facilitated by the smaller contact barrier and appropriate band matching between anatase TiO2nanoparticles and rutile *** introduction of N doping in anatase TiO2resulted in an upward shift of the valence band and a narrowing of the band gap,consequently enhancing the efficiency of visible light *** combination of the heterophase junction and N-doping exhibited a synergistic effect,effectively suppressing the recombination of photogenerated charges and enhancing the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the *** AM 1.5G irradiation,the photocurrent density（J） of the A-TO（N）@R-TONR photoanode reached2.19 mA·cm-2(VRHE,1.23 eV).Additionally,the incident photon-electron conversion efficiency（IPCE） and the charge injection efficiency（η） reached 81.4% and 51.6% at320 ***,the J,IPCE,and η values of the A-TO（N）@R-TONR photoanode were 2.96,2.1 and 3.2times those of pure R-TONR photoanode,*** work presents a rational strategy for designing efficient TiO2-based photoanodes.

Detection of Al, Mg, Ca, and Zn in copper slag by LIBS combined with calibration curve and PLSR methods

The precise measurement of Al, Mg, Ca, and Zn composition in copper slag is crucial for effective process control of copper pyrometallurgy. In this study, a remote laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) system was utilized for the spectral analysis of copper slag samples at a distance of 2.5 m. The composition of copper slag was then analyzed using both the calibration curve(CC) method and the partial least squares regression(PLSR) analysis method based on the characteristic spectral intensity ratio. The performance of the two analysis methods was gauged through the determination coefficient(R^(2)), average relative error(ARE), root mean square error of calibration(RMSEC), and root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP). The results demonstrate that the PLSR method significantly improved both R^(2) for the calibration and test sets while reducing ARE, RMSEC, and RMSEP by 50% compared to the CC method. The results suggest that the combination of LIBS and PLSR is a viable approach for effectively detecting the elemental concentration in copper slag and holds potential for online detection of the elemental composition of high-temperature molten copper slag.

Effect of cooling method on TiN precipitation behavior of high-titanium high-strength steel during solidification

Metallographic microscopy,scanning electron microscopy and TiN growth thermodynamic and kinetic equations were used to investigate the morphology,quantity,and size of TiN in the center of high-titanium high-strength steels under different solidification cooling *** results showed that TiN in the center of the experimental steels mainly existed in three forms:single,composite(Al2O3-TiN),and multi-particle *** began precipitating at around 1497℃(solidification fraction of 0.74).From the end of melting to solidification for 180 s,the cooling rates in the center of the experimental steels for furnace cooling,air cooling,refractory mold cooling,and cast iron mold cooling tended to stabilize at 0.17,0.93,1.65,and 2.15℃/s,*** size of TiN in the center of the experimental steel cooled using furnace cooling was mainly concentrated in the 5-15 pm *** contrast,the size of TiN in the center of the experimental steels cooled using air cooling,refractory mold cooling,and cast iron mold cooling were mainly concentrated in the 1-5 pm *** addition,their density of TiN in the center of the experimental steels is signif-icantly higher than that of the furnace-cooled experimental *** and kinetic precipitation models of TiN established predicted the growth size of TiN in a high-titanium high-strength steel when the solidification cooling rates are not below 0.93℃/s.

Singular spectrum analysis is widely used in geodetic time series ***,when extracting time-varying periodic signals from a large number of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)time series,the selection of appropriate embedding window size and principal components makes this method cumbersome and *** improve the efficiency and accuracy of singular spectrum analysis,this paper proposes an adaptive singular spectrum analysis method by combining spectrum analysis with a new trace *** running time and correlation analysis indicate that the proposed method can adaptively set the embedding window size to extract the time-varying periodic signals from GNSS time series,and the extraction efficiency of a single time series is six times that of singular spectrum *** method is also accurate and more suitable for time-varying periodic signal analysis of global GNSS sites.

Effect of safety valve types on the gas venting behavior and thermal runaway hazard severity of large-format prismatic lithium iron phosphate batteries

The safety valve is an important component to ensure the safe operation of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the effect of safety valve type on the thermal runaway(TR)and gas venting behavior of LIBs,as well as the TR hazard severity of LIBs,are not *** this paper,the TR and gas venting behavior of three 100 A h lithium iron phosphate(LFP)batteries with different safety valves are investigated under *** to previous studies,the main contribution of this work is in studying and evaluating the effect of gas venting behavior and TR hazard severity of LFP batteries with three safety valve *** significant results are obtained:(Ⅰ)the safety valve type dominates over gas venting pressure of battery during safety venting,the maximum gas venting pressure of LFP batteries with a round safety valve is 3320 Pa,which is one order of magnitude higher than other batteries with oval or cavity safety valve;(Ⅱ)the LFP battery with oval safety valve has the lowest TR hazard as shown by the TR hazard assessment model based on gray-fuzzy analytic hierarchy *** study reveals the effect of safety valve type on TR and gas venting,providing a clear direction for the safety valve design.

Investigating effect of coke porosity on blast furnace performance based on multi-physical fields

Reducing coke use is an effective measure to reduce carbon emission and energy consumption in the blast furnace(BF)***,BF is a high-temperature moving bed reactor,where complex physical transformations coupled with complicated reactions *** makes it challenging to investigate the factors determining BF performance with the conventional method.A multi-physical field coupling mathematical model of BF was thus developed to describe its mass and heat transfer as well as its intrinsic ***,the proposed model was validated with the production *** coupling conditions,influences of dominating reactions on BF performance(temperature distribution,gas distribution,iron formation reaction,and direct reduction degree)were *** results indicated that coke combustion,indirect reduction,and direct reduction of iron ore mainly took place nearby the shaft tuyere,cohesive zone,and dripping zone,***,the rate of coke solution loss reaction was increased with the rising coke porosity in the cohesive *** the effect of coke porosity on the efficiency and stability of BF,the coke porosity of 0.42 was regarded as a reasonable value.

Lithium recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have attracted extensive attention due to the skyrocketing price of *** medium-temperature carbon reduction roasting was proposed to preferential selective extraction of lithium from spent Li-coO_(2)(Lco)cathodes to overcome the incomplete recovery and loss of lithium during the recycling *** Lco layered structure was destroyed and lithium was completely converted into water-soluble Li2co_(3)under a suitable temperature to control the reduced state of the cobalt *** co metal agglomerates generated during medium-temperature carbon reduction roasting were broken by wet grinding and ultrasonic crushing to release the entrained *** results showed that 99.10%of the whole lithium could be recovered as Li2co_(3)with a purity of 99.55%.This work provided a new perspective on the preferentially selective extraction of lithium from spent lithium batteries.

Deflagration characteristics of freely propagating flames in magnesium hydride dust clouds

The flame propagation processes of MgH_(2)dust clouds with four different particle sizes were recorded by a high-speed *** dynamic flame temperature distributions of MgH_(2)dust clouds were reconstructed by the two-color pyrometer technique,and the chemical composition of solid combustion residues were *** experimental results showed that the average flame propagation velocities of 23μm,40μm,60μm and 103μm MgH_(2)dust clouds in the stable propagation stage were 3.7 m/s,2.8 m/s,2.1 m/s and 0.9 m/s,*** dust clouds with smaller particle sizes had faster flame propagation velocity and stronger oscillation intensity,and their flame temperature distributions were more even and the temperature gradients were *** flame structures of MgH_(2)dust clouds were significantly affected by the particle sinking velocity,and the combustion processes were accompanied by micro-explosion of *** falling velocities of 23μm and 40μm MgH_(2)particles were 2.24 cm/s and 6.71 cm/s,*** the falling velocities of 60μm and 103μm MgH_(2)particles were as high as 15.07 cm/s and 44.42 cm/s,respectively,leading to a more rapid downward development and irregular shape of the ***,the dehydrogenation reaction had a significant effect on the combustion performance of MgH_(2)*** combustion of H_(2)enhanced the ignition and combustion characteristics of MgH_(2)dust,resulting in a much higher explosion power than the pure Mg *** micro-structure characteristics and combustion residues composition analysis of MgH_(2)dust indicated that the combustion control mechanism of MgH_(2)dust flame was mainly the heterogeneous reaction,which was affected by the dehydrogenation reaction.
