Multi-scenario land use prediction and layout optimization in Nanjing Metropolitan Area based on the PLUS model

The metropolitan area is a crucial spatial element in promoting new urbanization in *** possesses theoretical and empirical value in the determination of the evolutionary patterns and development trends necessary for regional integration and high-quality *** study focused on Nanjing Metropolitan Area,the first national metropolitan area in China,and established three development scenarios by combining ecological–economic spatial conflict(EESC)zones and national key ecological functional *** scenarios simulate the spatial distribution of future land use and land cover change(LUCC)using the development zone planning function of the patch generation land use simulation(PLUS)*** results show that:(1)Between 2000 and 2020,the most prominent characteristics of land use change were largely the massive expansion of built-up land and the significant decline of farmland,while changes in the area of ecological land were less evident.(2)EESC areas experienced significant changes over the past 20 years,but the overall level of conflict was *** land was the main land use type in the lowest-conflict area,while built-up land was the main land use type in the highest-conflict area.(3)From 2030 to 2050,further expansion of built-up areas is expected,with continued decrease of *** regulation of these land use changes can be achieved through different development zone *** economic development scenario had the largest built-up land area,while the ecological protection scenario had the largest farmland *** study simulates the spatial pattern changes in the metropolitan area based on spatial conflict patterns and national main functional area planning process,providing a scientific reference for future spatial planning and management.

Heavy metals potentially drive co-selection of antibiotic resistance genes by shifting soil bacterial communities in paddy soils along the middle and lower Yangtze River

Heavy metals(HMs)and antibiotic resistance have become serious environmental problems affecting soil and human *** microorganisms play key roles in pollutant degradation and biogeochemical cycling processes;however,the interactions among HMs,soil microbial communities,and antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in agricultural soils remain *** quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and NovaSeq sequencing,we evaluated heavy metal contents,abundances of ARGs,soil bacterial community structure and functions,and their correlations in paddy soils at 43 sampling sites along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River,central and eastern *** results showed the co-occurrence of HMs,ARGs,and HM resistance genes across all paddy ***,significant positive associations were detected between HMs and resistance ***,czcA,and int1 were positively correlated with bacterial community *** Mantel test showed that bacterial community composition and functions were significantly associated with HMs and resistance genes,such as Cd,Cr,Zn,copA,czcA,int1,and ***,HMs and ARGs were the major factors shaping soil bacterial communities;thus,HMs triggered proliferation of HM and antibiotic resistances by influencing the mobile genetic element(int1)and soil microbial *** study revealed that HMs potentially drive the co-selection of ARGs by shifting soil bacterial community structure and functions,thereby increasing the potential risks to human health as well as ecological environment in the paddy soils along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Soil Heavy Metal Pollution and Bioavailability in Baoshantao Mining Area, China

In areas with a high geological background of heavy metals,some edible plants could pose a serious threat to human *** order to find effective methods to remove heavy metals or reduce their harm,this study investigated the enrichment conditions of five soil heavy metals,Cd,Pb,Cu,Zn and Cr,in four edible plants in a mining area,Baoshantao,in eastern China that has a high geological background of metals,and two groups of experiments were designed to investigate the effects of passivators on their *** results showed that the soil heavy metal content in the study area has a certain degree of spatial *** five heavy metal element contaminants in the soil are in the order of Cd>Cu>Zn>Pb>*** enrichment coefficients and the transfer coefficients of different edible plants were different for the different heavy *** two groups of passivators showed better passivating effects with an increase in passivating agent *** smaller the enrichment coefficient of water spinach,the lower the *** results of this study can provide a scientific basis for the restoration of soil heavy metal pollution and the safe use of land in areas with a high geological background of heavy metals.

The gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in the maintenance of health for amphibians,and it has been fully recognized,but the effectiveness of various influencing factors has not yet been fully *** this association should be considered while the amphibian order Caudata is facing a severe situation of population decline and extinction,there is little understanding of the association between diets and the diversity of gut microbiota in the amphibian order ***,we conducted an extensive analysis of the gut microbiota of Cynops orientalis fed different diets using functional prediction and 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing ***,we found that wild individuals had greater gut microbial diversity and richness in comparison to captive ***,we identified the bacterial taxa associated with diets and observed differences in the relative abundance of gut microbiota among people on various ***,we have a predictive comprehension of the selection and adaptative significance of shared core ASVs in the gut microbiota in maintaining the healthy survival of *** in a large-scale spatiotemporal *** study emphasizes how diets alter the gut microbiota of Caudata and offers fresh perspectives on the conservation and captive management of species in Caudata.

Screening of morphology-related genes based on predatorinduced transcriptome sequencing and the functional analysis of Dagcut gene in Daphnia galeata

High fish predation pressure can trigger"induced defense"in Daphnia species,resulting in phenotypic plasticity in morphology,behavior,or life-history *** molecular mechanisms of defense morphogenesis(e.g.,the tail spine and helmet)in Daphnia remain *** the pres-ent study,the tail spine,helmet,and body of Daphnia galeata under fish and non-fish kairomones conditions were collected for transcriptome analysis.A total of 24 candidate genes related to the morphological defense of *** were identified,including 2 trypsin,one cuticle protein,1 C1qDC protein,and 2 ferritin *** function of the Dagcut gene(*** cuticle protein gene)in relation to tail spine morphology was assessed using RNA interference(RNAi).Compared with the EGFP(Enhanced green fluorescent protein)treatment,after RNAi,the expression levels of the Dagcut gene(*** cuticle protein gene)showed a significant ***,the tail spines of the offspring pro-duced by *** after RNAi of the Dagcut gene appeared curved during the *** whole-mount in situ hybridization,a clear signal site was detected on the tail spine of *** before RNAi which disappeared after *** results suggest that the Dagcut gene may play an important role in tail spine formation of ***,and will provide a theoretical basis for studying the molecular mechanisms of the morpho-logical plasticityin cladocera inthefuture.

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Typical Ecosystem Services and Their Spatial Responses to Driving Factors in Ecologically Fragile Areas in Upper Yellow River,China

The identification of dominant driving factors for different ecosystem services(ESs)is crucial for ecological conservation and sustainable ***,the spatial heterogeneity of the dominant driving factors affecting various ESs has not been adequately elucidated,particularly in ecologically fragile *** study employed the integrated valuation of ESs and trade-offs(InVEST)model to evaluate four ESs,namely,water yield(WY),soil conservation(SC),habitat quality(HQ),and carbon storage(CS),and then to identify the dominant driving factors of spatiotemporal differentiation of ES and further to characterize the spatial heterogeneity characteristics of the dominant driving factors in the eco-fragile areas of the upper Yellow River,China from 2000 to *** results demonstrated that WY exhibited northeast-high and northwest-low patterns in the upper Yellow River region,while high values of SC and CS were distributed in central forested areas and a high value of HQ was distributed in vast grassland *** CS,WY,and SC exhibited decreasing trends over *** most critical factors affecting WY,SC,HQ,and CS were the actual evapotranspiration,precipitation,slope,and normalized difference vegetation index,*** addition,the effects of different factors on various ESs exhibited spatial *** results could provide spatial decision support for eco-protection and rehabilitation in ecologically fragile areas.

Homogenous molecular photocatalysts for CO_(2)reduction,especially metal complex-based photosensitizer-catalyst assemblages,have been attracting extensive research interests due to their efficiency and ***,their low durability and recyclability limit practical *** this work,we immobilized the catalysts of metal terpyridyl complexes and the photosensitizer of[Ru(bpy)3]Cl2onto the surface of carbon nanotubes through covalent bonds and electrostatic interactions,respectively,transforming the homogeneous system into a heterogeneous *** characterizations prove that these metal complexes are well dispersed on CNTs with a high loading(ca.12 wt.%).Photocatalytic measurements reveal that catalytic activity is remarkably enhanced when the molecular catalysts are anchored,which is three times higher than that of homogeneous molecular ***,when the photosensitizer of[Ru(bpy)3]Cl2is immobilized,the side reaction of hydrogen evolution is completely suppressed and the selectivity for CO production reaches 100%,with its durability also significantly *** work provides an effective pathway for constructing heterogeneous photocatalysts based on rational assembly of efficient molecular photosensitizers and catalysts.

Theoretical screening of cooperative N-bridged dual-atom sites for efficient electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction with remolding insight

The electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(e-NRR)is a promising alternative method for the Haber–Bosch ***,it still faces many challenges in searching for high activity,stability,and selectivity catalysts and ascertaining the catalytic mechanism with complete ***,a series of graphene-based N-bridged dual-atom catalysts(M1-N-M2/NC)are systematically investigated via first-principle calculation and a high-throughput screening *** result unveils that N_(2) adsorption on M1-N-M2/NC in bridge-on adsorption mode can effectively break the scaling relationship on single-atom catalysts(SACs).Moreover,V-N-Ru/NC and V-N-Os/NC are systematically screened out as promising e-NRR catalysts,with extremely low limiting potentials of-0.20 and-0.18 V,***,the adsorption site competition between*N_(2) and*H,as well as the competitive twin reactions of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)on intermediates(N_(n)H_(m))during the e-NRR process,is systematically evaluated to form a remodeling insight for the reactions in mechanism,and the e-NRR of new proposed dual-atom catalysts(DACs)is strategically optimized for its high-efficiency performance potential via our remolding insight in e-NRR *** work provides new ideas and insights for the design and mechanism of e-NRR catalysts and an effective strategy for rapidly screening highly efficient e-NRR catalysts.
