Numerical simulation of EMS position on flow, solidification and inclusion capture in slab continuous casting

Electromagnetic stirring(EMS)is a well-known and widely used technology for controlling the fluid flow in continuous casting mold,and therein the selection of stirrer position is closely related to final *** investigate the effect of stirrer position on initial solidification and inclusion capturing,a mathematical model coupling with electromagnetic field,turbulence flow,solidification,and inclusion movement was *** comparing the magnetic flux density,flow field and solidified shell thickness with measured data,the reliability of the mathematical model was *** uniform index has been introduced to judge the uniformity of solidified shell,and the washing effects of EMS on the numbers and distribution of captured inclusions were *** results show that a diagonal jet flow toward the mold wide face has generated when EMS is applied,and upper EMS position can effectively improve the uniformity of temperature and the solidified shell within the ***,due to the washing effect of EMS,the number of inclusions inside the solidified shell decreases,and the distribution of captured inclusions along the mold width changes *** the stirrer position,the uniform index decreases firstly and then increases,and the probability of inclusion capture by solidified shell ***,the upper stirrer position is suggested,with which the uniformity of solidified shell and cleanliness of slab are rational.

Nano Research volume 13,pages1704–1712(2020)Cite this article 191 Accesses Metrics details Abstract Intelligent gas sensors based on the layered transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)have attracted great interest in the field of gas sensing due to their multiple active sites,fast electron,mass transfer capability and large surface-to-volume ***,conventional TMDs-based sensors typically work at elevated temperature in inert atmosphere,which would largely limit the corresponding practical ***,novel oxygen-doped MoSe2 hierarchical nanostructures composed of ultrathin nanosheets with large specific surface area have been designed and generated typically at 200°C in air for fast and facile gas sensing of trimethylamine(TMA),*** from the gas-accessible hierarchical morphology and high surface area with abundant nanochannels,highly sensitive and selective detection of trace TMA has been achieved under ambient condition,and as detected the theoretical limit of detection(LOD)is 8 ppb,which is the lowest for TMA detection under ambient condition among the reported *** mechanism of oxygen doping on the improved gas-sensing performance has been investigated,revealing that the oxygen doping could greatly optimize the electronic structure,thus regulate the Fermi level of MoSe2 as well as the affinity between TMA molecule and sensor *** is expected that the oxygen doping strategy developed for the highly efficient gas sensors based on TMDs in present work may also be applicable to other types of gas-sensing semiconductors,which could open up a new direction for the rational design of high-performance gas sensors working under ambient condition.

Sub-nanosecond optical switch based on silicon racetrack resonator

We experimentally demonstrate a small-size and high-speed silicon optical switch based on the free carrier plasma dispersion in silicon. Using an embedded racetrack resonator with a quality factor of 7400, the optical switch shows an extinction ratio exceeding 13 dB with a footprint of only 2.2 × 10-3 mm^2. Moreover, a novel pre-emphasis technique is introduced to improve the optical response performance and the rise and the fall times are reduced down to 0.24 ns and 0.42 ns respectively, which are 25% and 44% lower than those without the pre-emphasis.

Spatial evolution equation of wind wave growth

Based on the dynamic essence of air-sea interactions, a feedback type of spatial evolu-tion equation is suggested to match reasonably the growing process of wind waves. This simple equation involving the dominant factors of wind wave growth is able to explain the transfer of en-ergy from high to low frequencies without introducing the concept of nonlinear wave-wave interac-tions, and the results agree well with observations. The rate of wave height growth derived in this dissertation is applicable to both laboratory and open sea, which solidifies the physical basis of using laboratory experiments to investigate the generation of wind waves. Thus the proposed spa-tial evolution equation provides a new approach for the research on dynamic mechanism of air-sea interactions and wind wave prediction.

Exploring the abundance and influencing factors of antimicrobial resistance genes in manure plasmidome from swine farms

Plasmids play a critical role in the dissemination of antimicrobial resistance genes(ARGs),however,a systematical understanding of ARGs originated from plasmids in swine production is currently ***,quantitative polymerase chain reaction was applied to determine the prevalence of ten ARGs and the class1 integron gene intI1 of plasmid source in swinemanure from 44 farms in Sichuan,Hubei and Hebei provinces,*** assayed ARGs were observed in plasmid DNA samples,and the average absolute abundance of aac(6’)-Ib-cr,blaNDM,blaCTX-M,optrA,ermB,floR,mcr-1,qnrS,tetM,sul1 and intI1 were 7.09,2.90,4.67,6.62,7.55,7.14,4.08,4.85,7.16,7.11 and 8.07 of 10 log copies/gram,***1 showed a high correlation(r>0.8,P<0.01)with the abundance of aac(6’)-Ib-cr and sul1 in swine ***,the farm scale(i.e.,herd population)and geographical location were not found to be critical factors influencing the absolute abundance of ARGs of plasmid DNA in swine ***,the concentrations of florfenicol,Cu,Zn,Fe,total phosphorus(TP)and total potassium(TK)demonstrated a significant correlation with the abundance of several ***,Cu and Zn had high correlations with optrA and blaCTX-M,*** results demonstrated that antibiotics,heavy metals and environmental nutrients are likely jointly contributing to the long-term persistence of ARGs in swine *** study provides insights into the abundance and influencing factors of ARGs from swine manure,which is of significance for assessing and reducing the public health risks in livestock production.

Quantum information transmission in the quantum wireless multihop network based on Werner state

Many previous studies about teleportation are based on pure state. Study of quantum channel as mixed state is more realistic but complicated as pure states degenerate into mixed states by interaction with environment, and the Werner state plays an important role in the study of the mixed state. In this paper, the quantum wireless multihop network is proposed and the information is transmitted hop by hop through teleportation. We deduce a specific expression of the recovered state not only after one-hop teleportation but also across multiple intermediate nodes based on Werner state in a quantum wireless multihop network. We also obtain the fidelity of multihop teleportation.

Fast Evaluation of Time-Domain Green Function for Finite Water Depth

For computation of large amplitude motions of ships fastened to a dock, a fast evaluation scheme is implemented for computation of the time-domain Green function for finite water depth. Based on accurate evaluation of the Green function directly, a fast approximation method for the Green function is developed by use of Chebyshev polynomials. Examinations are carried out of the accuracy of the Green function and its derivatives from the scheme. It is shown that when an appropriate number of polynomial terms are used, very accurate approximation can be obtained.
