Effectiveness of craniosacral therapy,Bowen therapy,static touch and standard exercise program on sleep quality in fibromyalgia syndrome:A randomized controlled trial

Background:Sleep disturbance is commonly seen in fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS);however,high quality studies involving manual therapies that target FMS-linked poor sleep quality are lacking for the indian ***:Craniosacral therapy (CST),Bowen therapy and exercises have been found to influence the autonomic nervous system,which plays a crucial role in sleep *** the paucity of evidence concerning these effects in individuals with FMS,our study tests the effectiveness of CST,Bowen therapy and a standard exercise program against static touch (the manual placebo group) on sleep quality in ***,setting,participants and intervention:A placebo-controlled randomized trial was conducted on132 FMS participants with poor sleep at a hospital in *** participants were randomly allocated to one of the four study groups,including CST,Bowen therapy,standard exercise program,and a manual placebo control group that received static ***,Bowen therapy and static touch treatments were administered in once-weekly 45-minute sessions for 12 weeks;the standard exercise group received weekly supervised exercises for 6 weeks with home exercises until 12 *** 12 weeks,all study participants performed the standard exercises at home for another 12 *** outcome measures:Sleep quality,pressure pain threshold (PPT),quality of life and fibromyalgia impact,physical function,fatigue,pain catastrophizing,kinesiophobia,and positive–negative affect were recorded at baseline,and at weeks 12 and 24 of the ***:At the end of 12 weeks,the sleep quality improved significantly in the CST group (P=0.037) and Bowen therapy group (P=0.023),and the PPT improved significantly in the Bowen therapy group(P=0.002) and the standard exercise group (P<0.001),compared to the static touch *** improvements were maintained at 24 *** between-group differences were observed for other secondary ***:CST and Bowen therapy improv

BACKGROUND The preferred treatment for distal humeral intercondylar fractures is open reduction and internal *** there is consensus about the posterior approach,several posterior approaches have been *** is debatable as to which approach is *** To compare triceps reflecting anconeus pedicle(TRAP)and olecranon osteotomy approaches for internal fixation of distal humeral intercondylar *** In total,40 cases of Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Association of the Study of Internal Fixation type C,closed,and Gustilo type I intercondylar humeral fractures were *** ranged in age from 18 years to 70 *** patients were randomized into two groups:TRAP group and olecranon osteotomy group,with 20 cases in *** were followed up at 6 wk,3 months,6 months,and 12 *** outcomes were measured in terms of flexion-extension arc,Disabilities of Arm,Shoulder and Hand score,and Mayo Elbow Performance *** The mean age was 43.2 years in the TRAP group and 37.5 years in the olecranon osteotomy *** mean operative time and mean duration of hospital stay in the TRAP group were significantly higher than in the olecranon osteotomy group(119.5 vs 111.5 min and 9.85 vs 5.45 d,respectively).The mean arc of flexion-extension,Disabilities of Arm,Shoulder and Hand score,and Mayo Elbow Performance Score were comparable without any significant difference in the groups at the 12-month follow-up(107.0 vs 106.2,18.3 vs 15.7,and 84.2 vs 86.2,respectively).Ulnar paresthesia and superficial infections were comparable in both groups(2 cases vs 3 cases and 3 cases vs 2 cases,respectively).Hardware prominence was significantly higher in the olecranon osteotomy group,mostly due to tension band *** Both approaches were equivalent,but there is a need for further study including higher numbers of subjects and longer study duration to prove the benefits of one approach over the other.

This editorial will focus on tumor immunity and the factors that alter the tumor immune *** role of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs)will also be discussed in detail,including the types,mechanism of action,and *** cancer(GC)often presents in the advanced stage and has various factors predicting the *** interplay of these factors and their correlation with the TILs is discussed.A literature review revealed high intratumoral TILs associated with higher grade,HER2-,and Helicobacter pylori ***,stromal(ST)TILs correlated with lower grade and lesser recurrence risk in *** TILs in ST and invasive border also correlated with mismatch repair deficiency *** characterization of the CD3+,CD8+,and other cells is also *** the future,this complex correlation of cancer cells with the immune system can be explored for therapeutic avenues.

Dear Editor,Orbital myositis is a relatively rare entity but is the next most common cause of extra ocular muscle disease after thyroid associated orbitopathy(TAO)[1-2].It was first described by Gleason in 1903 as an orbital pseudotumour and then renamed in 1930[3].It usually affects young females than *** muscles differ from skeletal muscles by a smaller unit size and higher motor neuron discharge,higher blood flow and volume of mitochondria fractions that allow inflammatory cells to reach and circulate easier,causing inflammation[4].Clinical findings include moderate to severe orbital pain,painful diplopia increased with eye movement,exophthalmos,swollen eyelids,conjunctival hyperemia or chemosis *** enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(CEMRI)is the most sensitive modality which discloses enhancement or thickening of inflamed extraocular muscle.

The extraction of maximum power from the solar panels,using the sliding mode control scheme,becomes popular for partial weather atmospheric conditions due to its effective dynamic duty cycle ***,the sliding mode control scheme was sophisticated with single integral and double integral sliding mode control scheme,which offer enhanced maximum power extraction and support enhanced solar panel efficiency in partial weather *** operation of the sliding mode control scheme depends on the selection of a sliding surface selection based on the atmospheric weather condition,which enables the effective sliding duty cycle ratio operation for the DC/DC boost *** duty cycle ratio of the sliding mode control resembles the usual dynamic behavior to achieve enhanced efficiency compared to the various maximum power point tracking(MPPT)*** major limitation of the sliding mode control scheme is to achieve the steady state voltage error of the solar panel in minimum settling time *** single integral sliding mode control scheme achieves the expected steady state voltage error limit but fails to achieve minimum settling time ***,the single integral sliding mode control is extended to a double integral sliding mode control scheme to achieve both steady state voltage error limits within the minimum settling time *** double integral sliding mode control scheme allows us to obtain the higher sliding surface duty cycle ratio which acts as the input signal to the boost *** activates the enhanced stable and reliable system operation,and nullifies the lacuna of maximum solar panel efficiency under partial weather ***,this paper aims to present the design and performance operation of the double integral sliding mode(DISM)MPPT control *** validate the performance analysis of the proposed DISM MPPT control scheme,the MATLAB/Simulink model is designed and ***,the performance analysis of the pr

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Chen et *** specifically focus on the risk factors,prognostic factors,and management of brain metastasis(BM)in breast cancer(BC).BC is the second most common cancer to have BM after lung *** risk factors for BM in BC are:HER-2 positive BC,triplenegative BC,and germline BRCA *** factors associated with BM are lung metastasis,age less than 40 years,and African and American *** though risk factors associated with BM in BC are elucidated,there is a lack of data on predictive models for BM in *** studies have been made to formulate predictive models or nomograms to address this issue,where age,grade of tumor,HER-2 receptor status,and number of metastatic sites(1 vs>1)were predictive of BM in metastatic ***,none have been used in clinical *** Comprehensive Cancer Network recommends screening of BM in advanced BC only when the patient is symptomatic or suspicious of central nervous system symptoms;routine screening for BM in BC is not recommended in the *** decreases the quality of life and will have a significant psychological *** studies are required for designing validated nomograms or predictive models for BM in BC;these models can be used in the future to develop treatment approaches to prevent BM,which improves the quality of life and overall survival.

Determination of the time of refractive stability after uneventful phacoemulsification in indian eyes

BACKGROUND Knowledge about refractive stabilization and the accuracy of postoperative refractive error measurements are crucial for improved patient outcomes after *** guidelines typically recommend waiting 4-6 wk before prescribing corrective *** research focused on identifying factors that influence refractive errors in the early stages of post-cataract surgery,thus contributing to the existing literature on this *** To investigate the time required for refraction stability after uneventful phacoemulsification *** We compared the variation and statistical significance of the difference in spherical,cylindrical components,and the spherical equivalent between the 1-and 6-wk follow-up period in a group of 257 eyes that underwent uneventful phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lens implantation,all performed by a single experienced *** Wilcoxon-Signed Rank Test was utilized to assess the magnitude of the change and determine its statistical *** refractive stability was defined as the point at which the change in spherical equivalent was within±0.5 dioptres for two consecutive *** The average age of the patients was 64.9±8.9 *** differences observed in both the visits in spherical power(0.1±0.2),cylinder power(0.3±0.4),and spherical equivalent(0.2±0.2)were minimal and not statistically *** majority of eyes(93.4%)achieved refractive stability within 6 wk after the *** cylindrical power differed between age groups at the 6th wk post-operative and the difference was statistically significant(P value 0.013).There were no significant differences in refractive stability when considering sex and axial *** Phacoemulsification with foldable intraocular lens implantation results in no significant changes in refraction for the majority of cases during the 6-wk follow-up ***,a spectacle prescription can be given at the completion of 1 wk.
