Current advances in basic stem cell research and tissue engineering augur well for the development of improved cultured skin tissue substitutes:a class of products that is still fraught with limitations for clinical *** the ability to grow autologous keratinocytes in-vitro from a small skin biopsy into sheets of stratified epithelium(within 3 to 4 weeks)helped alleviate the problem of insufficient donor site for extensive burn,many burn units still have to grapple with insufficient skin allografts which are used as intermediate wound coverage after burn *** offered by tissue-engineered skin dermal replacements to meet emergency demand have been used fairly *** the availability of these commercial products,they all suffer from the same problems of extremely high cost,sub-normal skin microstructure and inconsistent engraftment,especially in full thickness *** practice for severe burn treatment has since evolved to incorporate these tissue-engineered skin substitutes,usually as an adjunct to speed up epithelization for wound closure and/or to improve quality of life by improving the functional and cosmetic results *** review seeks to bring the reader through the beginnings of skin tissue engineering,the utilization of some of the key products developed for the treatment of severe burns and the hope of harnessing stem cells to improve on current practice.

BACKGROUND Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder. Dysregulation of the gut–brain axis plays a central role in the pathophysiology of IBS. It is increasingly clear that the microbiome plays a key role in the development and normal functioning of the gut–brain *** To facilitate the identification of specific areas of focus that may be of relevance to future research. This study represents a bibliometric analysis of the literature pertaining to the microbiome in IBS to understand the development of this *** The data used in our bibliometric analysis were retrieved from the Scopus database. The terms related to IBS and microbiome were searched in titles or abstracts within the period of 2000–2019. VOSviewer software was used for data *** A total of 13055 documents related to IBS were retrieved at the global level. There were 1872 scientific publications focused on the microbiome in IBS. There was a strong positive correlation between publication productivity related to IBS in all fields and productivity related to the microbiome in IBS(r = 0.951, P aly(n = 151, 8.1%). The h-index for all retrieved publications related to the microbiome in IBS was 138. The hot topics were stratified into four clusters:(1) The gut–brain axis related to IBS;(2) Clinical trials related to IBS and the microbiome;(3) Drugmediated manipulation of the gut microbiome;and(4) The role of the altered composition of intestinal microbiota in IBS *** This is the first study to evaluate and quantify global research productivity pertaining to the microbiome in IBS. Multivariate model for predicting semen ：ryopreservation outcomes in a human sperm ban

Semen cryopreservation is widely used in assisted reproductive technologies, but it reduces sperm quality dramatically. The aim of this study was to develop a model using basal semen quality to predict the outcome of postthaw semen parameters and improve the efficiency of cryopreservation in a human sperm bank. Basal semen parameters of 180 samples were evaluated in the first stage, and a multiple logistic regression analysis involving a backward elimination selection procedure was applied to select independent predictors. After a comprehensive analysis of all results, we developed a new model to assess the freezability of sperm. Progressive motility （PR）, straight-line velocity （VSL） and average path velocity （VAP） were included in our model. A greater area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was obtained in our model when compared with other indicators. In the second stage of our study, samples that satisfied the new model were selected to undergo freeze-thawing. Compared with the first stage, the rate of good freezability was increased significantly （94% vs 67%, P = 0.003）. By determining basal semen quality, we have developed a new model to improve the efficiency of cryopreservation in a human sperm bank.

Combination of Korean Red Ginseng Extract and Hydrogen-Rich Water Improves Spermatogenesis and Sperm Motility in Male Mice

Objective: To investigate the effect of hydrogen-rich Korean Red Ginseng(KRG) water(HRGW) mixture on the spermatogenesis and sperm motility of mice of different ages. Methods: Eighty young(3 month-old) and aged(12 month-old) male mice were randomly assigned to 4 groups(n=10 per group) including control group, hydrogen-rich water(HRW) group(10 m L/kg daily), KRG group(50 mg/kg daily) and HRGW group(10 m L/kg HRW and 50 mg/kg KRG daily) by an oral zoned needle for 4 weeks. Sperm count and motility were measured using sperm suspension released from cauda epididymis. Serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH), luteinizing hormone(LH), testosterone, and reactive oxygen species(ROS) in serum have also been estimated. Tubular changes were examined through histological hematoxylin and eosin staining. Expression of antioxidation(PPx3, PPx4, GSTm5 and GPx4), spermatogenesis(inhibin-α, neptin-2 and CREM), antiaging(SIRT1 and SIRT2), and angiogenesis [visfatin and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)] related genes were examined through realtime polymerase chain reaction. Results: HRW and KRG treatment stimulated spermatogenesis followed by increasing sperm production and sperm motility(Pally by a HRGW mixture(Pally in aged mice(Palso increased, while serum ROS level decreased(all P<0.05). Conclusion: HRGW increases sperm production and motility by enhancing antioxidation and stimulating spermatogenesis and sex hormone production, particularly in aged mice.

Bromelain and Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Diabetes:An Exploratory Randomized,Placebo Controlled,Double Blind Clinical Trial

Objective： To assess whether the dietary supplement （bromelain） has the potential to reduce plasma fibrinogen and other cardiovascular disease （CVD） risk factors in patients with diabetes. Methods： This randomized placebo controlled, double blind, parallel design, efficacy study was carried out in China and investigated the effect of 12 weeks of bromelain （1,050 mg/day） on plasma fibrinogen, This randomized controlled trial （RCT） recruited 68 Chinese diabetic patients [32 males and 36 females; Han origin, mean age of 61.26 years （standard deviation （SD）, 12.62 years）] with at least one CVD risk factor. Patients were randomized into either bromelain or placebo group. While bromelain group received bromelain capsule, the placebo group received placebo capsule which consisted inert ingredient and has no treatment effect. Subjects were required to take 1,050 mg （3× 350 mg） of either bromelain or starch-tiffed placebo capsules, two to be taken （2 × 350 mg） after breakfast and another （350 mg） after dinner, daily for 12 weeks. Plasma fibrinogen, CVD risk factors and anthropometric indicators were determined at baseline and at 12 weeks. Results： The change in the flbrinogen level in the bromelain group at the end of the study showed a mean reduction of 0.13 g/L （standard deviation （SD） 0.86g/L） compared with the mean reduction of 0.36 g/L （SD 0.96 g/L） for the placebo group. However, there was no significant difference in the mean change in fibrinogen between the placebo and bromelain groups （mean difference=0.23g/L （SD 0.22 g/L）, P=0.291）. Similady, the difference in mean change in other CVD risk factors （blood lipids, blood pressure）, blood glucose, C-reactive protein and anthropometric measures between the bromelain and placebo groups was also not statistically significant. Statistical differences in fibrinogen between bromelain and placebo groups before the trial despite randomization may have influenced the results of this study. Conclusion： This RCT failed to show a

Objectove:To evaluate the validity of Crypto-Giardia antigen rapid test(CA-RT) in comparison with the conventional mollified Ziehl-Neelsen acid fast(MZN-AF) staining method for the diagnosis of ***:Fifteen preserved stool samples from previously confirmed infections were used as positive controls and 40 stool samples from healthy people were used as negative control.A total of 85 stool samples were collected from suspected patients with cryptosporidiosis over 6 months during the period from January till *** stud) was conducted in the department of parasitology,central *** Specialist hospital, *** *** samples were subjected to CA-RT and conventional MZN-AF staining *** parameters including sensitivity(SN).specificity(SP),accuracy index (AI).positive predictive value(PPV).and negative predictive value(NPV) were evaluated for both ***:Out of 15[lositive controls,CA-RT detected 13(86.7%) while MZN-AF detected 11(73.3%) positive ***-RT detected no positive case in 40 normal controls but MZN-AF detected 2(5%) as positive *** on the results,the *** and NPV were high in CA-RT than MZN-AF staining method,ie..86.7%vs.73.3%.100%vs.95%.96.4%vs.89.1%. 100%vs.84.6%and 95.2%vs.90.5%.*** of a total of 85 suspected *** detected 7(8.2%) but MZN-AF detected 6(7.1%) cases as ***:CA-RT immunoassay is more valid and reliable than MZN-AF staining method.

Potential therapeutic significance of increased expression of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in human gastric cancer

AIM： To determine the functional significance of aryl hydrocarbon receptor （AhR） in gastric carcinogenesis, and to explore the possible role of AhR in gastric cancer （GC） treatment. METHODS： RT-PCR, real-time PCR, and Western blotting were performed to detect AhR expression in 39 GC tissues and five GC cell lines. AhR protein was detected by immunohistochemistry （IHC） in 290 samples： 30 chronic superficial gastritis （CSG）, 30 chronic atrophic gastritis （CAG）, 30 intestinal metapiasia （IN）, 30 atypical hyperplasia （AH）, and 70 GC. The AhR agonist tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin （TCDD） was used to treat AGS cells. MTr assay and flow cytometric analysis were performed to measure the viability, cell cycle and apoptosis of AGS ***： AhR expression was significantly increased in GC tissues and GC cell lines. IHC results indicated that the levels of AhR expression gradually increased, with the lowest levels in CSG, followed by CAG, IM, AH and GC. AhR expression and nuclear translocation were significantly higher in GC than in precancerous tissues. TCDD inhibited proliferation of AGS cells via induction of growth arrest at the G1-S phase. CONCLUSION： AhR plays an important role in gastric carcinogenesis. AhR may be a potential therapeutic target for GC treatment.
