This investigation elucidates the properties of indium oxide (In2O3) thin films used as antireflection front electrodes in p-n junction solar cells. The deposition conditions of In2O3 film by spray pyrolysis were optimized for solar cell applications. Microstructure, surface morphology and optical properties of these films were then characterized and analyzed. Next, the effects of substrate temperature on In2O3 film growth were discussed. The In2O3 thickness was optimized considering that the refractive index of μc-Si emitter layer optimizes its optical characteristics and solar cell spectral response. The increasing in solar cell conversion efficiency was 7.4% with an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.48 V, fill factor (FF) of 0.473, and short circuit current density (JSC) of 13.2 mA/cm2. The optimum thickness and refractive index obtain a minimum reflectance for a single-layer ARC.

Background: BCG vaccine as an antigen has proved its effectiveness as an immunotherapy for viral warts. Tuberculin is an antigenic extract of M. tuberculosis capable of eliciting an immunological skin reaction. Objective: To assess the efficacy of tuberculin intralesional injection in the treatment of viral warts. Patients and Methods: This single ,blind, placebo controlled study was conducted at the Department of Dermatology, Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq from March 2010 to July ***-one patients with different types of viral warts were enrolled in this study;tuberculin test was done to patients prior to instillation of intralesional treatment. Then the patients treated by intralesional tuberculin in each lesion located on the right side of the body, and intralesional distilled water in each lesion located on the left side of to a maximum of 3 injections, at 2 weeks interval or until full resolution of these lesions. Patients were evaluated every 2 weeks to assess the regression of their lesions and to record any local and systemic adverse effects. The response to treatment was evaluated by decrease in size and reduction in number of warts. Scoring of response to treatment was as follow: 1) Responders: including patients who showed complete cure or those with good response (>50% reduction). 2) Non responders: including patients who showed minimal response (al response, 7 patients showed good response and 7 patients showed complete cure (23.33%). Background: Recurrent aphthous ulcer (RAS) is a common oral disease where its etiopathogenesis is not well elucidated. There was no effective curative therapy for this disease. Isotretinoin has been recently used in the treatment of Behcet’s disease. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of isotretinoin in treating RAS and the long term remission of RAS. Patients and Methods: This single-blind controlled therapeutic study conducted in Department of Dermatology-Baghdad Teaching Hospital during February 2011-January 2012. Thirty patients with typical RAS were included in this work. Detailed history and full examination were done for all patients. They were given isotretinoin 20 mg orally once daily for three months to be seen on Day 14 firstly and then monthly to be assessed using the oral clinical manifestation index (OCMI). After isotretinoin was stopped three months later, patients were given placebo therapy for another 3 months. Results: The results of 30 treated patients were as follows: 17 (56.67%) males and 13 (43.33%) females with male to female ratio was 1.3:1. Their ages ranged from 12 - 60 (35.33 ± 12.06) years. The OCMI before isotretinoin therapy ranged from 7 - 17 (13.13 ± 2.55), while after therapy the mean started to decline to a lower level within the first 14 days (P = 0.103), and continued to decline significantly until the end of the first month of therapy (P = 0.023). Then the OCMI declined very significantly until the end of fourth month of therapy (P ally significant compared with the baseline of mean of OCMI before treatment (P = 0.046). Then it continued to increase to become not significant at the end of 6 months of therapy (P = 0.107). Conclusion: Isotretinoin is an effective therapeutic and prophylactic promising remedy in treatment of RAS.

Objectives: To explore patient’s perspectives of the role of the community pharmacist in view of other health care professionals (specialist physician, general practitioner, nurse and others (e.g. herbalist)) in Jordan, UAE and Iraq. The study also investigated patient’s willingness to pay for specialized pharmaceutical care services. Methods: This study followed a single phase cross sectional survey methodology, conducted in three Middle Eastern countries. Data were collected over a period of 6 months on two consecutive years (March to May 2009 and 2010). A questionnaire was designed and validated, then completed by patients walking into community pharmacies. The source of advice (specialist physician, general practitioner, pharmacist, nurse, or herbalist) regarding patient’s medication use and medical management were investigated. Key findings: Patients visiting community pharmacies in Jordan (n = 1000), UAE (n = 1000) and Iraq (n = 968) were recruited into the study (mean age 35.9 ± 13.1, 50.6% males). Significant difference between the three countries was shown, as more patients chose the pharmacist as their primary source of advice on medication use vs. the specialist physician in Jordan (50.8% vs. 37.3%) and Iraq (41.9% vs. 36.7%) compared to UAE (38.0% vs. 40.1%), P al care services (Jordan 19.5%;UAE 24.7%;Iraq 2.3%). Conclusion: Current situation resulting in the lower socioeconomic status in Jordan and Iraq seems to lead to patients’ higher reliance on the pharmacist, as compared to the UAE. Majority of patients, regardless of the country of origin, are not willing to pay for specialized pharmaceutical care services. These findings are important for future social pharmacy research in the area.

The synthesis and characterization of new series of liquid crystals containing cholesteryl moiety connected via an ester linkage to 1,3,4-oxadiazole are reported. The molecular structures of the intermediates and target compounds were confirmed by elemental analyses and FT-IR, ^1H NMR and mass spectrometry. The mesomorphic behaviors were investigated by polarizing optical microscopy （POM） attached with hot stage and differential scanning calorimetry （DSC）. Enantiotropic smectic 1, smectic A, blue phase and cholesteric mesophases are exhibited by the newly synthesized compounds.

The modified Drucker-Prager Cap elasto-plastic constitutive model is used for the calculation that performed using the finite element code ABAQUS 6.4 to simulate densification of alumina powder of complex shaped sample. Four-node axisymmetric elements were used for the powder compact and two-node axisymmetric rigid surface elements were used for the interfaces between powder and die and punches. Finite element result predicts very high density in the inner top region and relatively uniform density distribution is observed in the region far from the axisymmetric axis. The model developed can describe not only the compaction and decompression phases, but also the ejection phase.

Properties of Nanostractured Solar Cell Prepared at Different Etching Time

This paper presents a study of PS layer formed by photoelectrochemical etching on p-n wafer by using He-Ne laser to illumination the wafer during the etching process, An investigation of the dependence on illumination time on solar cells characteristics. Dark current-voltage characteristics of these cells are studied and the surface morphology would dependent of the etching time. Under AM1 illumination the PS/ p-n which improves the ISC about 28% and increased fill factor from 0.34 to 0.53 at 5 mins etching time (i. e., decreased the resistivity of top layer (PS)). These allowing improving the conversion efficiency approximated to 15%.
