Panzhihua airport Landslide (Oct. 3rd 2009) and an Emergency Monitoring and Warning System Based on the Internet of Things

Panzhihua city(26°05'-27°21'N,101°08'102°15'E),located in a mountainous area,is one of the large cities in Sichuan province,China.A landslide occurred in the filling body of the eastern part of the Panzhihua airport on October 3,2009(hereafter called the 10.3 landslide).We conducted field survey on the landslide and adopted emergency monitoring and warning models based on the Internet of Things(IoT) to estimate the losses from the disaster and to prevent a secondary disaster from occurring.The results showed that four major features of the airport site had contributed to the landslide,i.e,high altitude,huge amount of filling rocks,deep backfilling and great difficulty of backfilling.The deformation process of the landslide had six stages and the unstable geological structure of high fillings and an earthquake were the main causes of the landslide.We adopted relative displacement sensing technology and Global System for Mobile Communications(GSM) technology to achieve remote,real-time and unattended monitoring of ground cracks in the landslide.The monitoring system,including five extensometers with measuring ranges of 200,450 and 700 mm,was continuously working for 17 months and released 7 warning signals with an average warning time of about 26 hours.At 10 am on 6 December 2009,the system issued a warning and on-site workers were evacuated and equipment protected immediately.At 2:20 pm on 7 December,a medium-scale collapse occurred at the No.5 monitoring site,which justified the alarm and proved the reliability and efficiency of the monitoring system.

Spatial variation of the relationship between transport accessibility and the level of economic development in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China

As an important component of China’ transportation systems, for a long time, the insufficient performance of transport in QinghaiTibet Plateau(QTP) was a bottleneck restricting the economic growth and social development in this area. Nevertheless, the implementation of the western development strategy has accelerated the preliminary construction of comprehensive transport network since 2000. Due to the large area and significant geographical heterogeneity, there is a growing need to understand the relationship between transportation and economic development based on the perspective of spatial difference. By using GIS-based raster analysis and Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR) model, we investigated the spatial-temporal distribution of highway, railway and airport accessibility, respectively, and estimated the correlation and heterogeneity between transport accessibility and the level of economic development. Results revealed that:(1) Transport accessibility in the QTP improved by 53.38% in the past 15 years, which is specifically embodied in the improvement of both highway and railway.(2) Accessibility presented prominent differentiation in the space, increasing from west to east and reducing with the rise of elevation, specifically, the best accessibility area of the highway is below 4000 m above sea level, while the area with an altitude of over 4000 m has the lowest aviation time cost.(3) In general, the long weighted average time cost to critical transport facilities posed significantly negative effect on county economic growth in QTP, more positively, the adverse effect gradually weakened over time.(4) Obvious heterogeneity exists at the influence of different transport accessibility factors on the level of economic development, reflecting both in the horizontal space and altitudinal belt. Therefore, region-specific policies should be addressed for the sustainable development of transport facilities as well as economy in the west mountain areas.

Tropical cyclone Fani-perspective from the trauma and emergency department of an affected tertiary hospital

Purpose:To explore the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients admitted to the trauma and emergency department(TED)of a tertiary care hospital due to tropical cyclone Fani and highlight the challenges faced by the hospital in this natural disaster.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted in the TED in the affected zone.Data of all victims affected by the cyclone Fani on May 3,2019 were obtained from disaster records and medical case sheets.All patients except death on admission were included.Clinical variables included anatomical sites and severity of injuries which was assessed by revised trauma score(RTS)and injury severity score(ISS).Trauma injury severity score(TRISS)was also calculated.Results:Of 75 patients,74 were included and the other one was brought dead and thus excluded.The age,median±interquartile range(IQ),was 41.0(27.7-53.0)years.The male to female ratio was 2:1.Most of the wounded were transported by the police control room vans on day 1:first 10 h,50.0%;10-24 h,20.3%.The median±IQ range of RTS,ISS and TRISS were 20(14-28),7.84(7.841-7.841),and 97.4(91.6-98.9),respectively.Simple external injury was the dominant injury type.Polytrauma(ISS>15)was seen in 67%cases and spine injury in 14%cases(7%cervical and 7%thoracolumbar).Injury causes included sharp flying objects(broken pieces of glasses and asbestos)in 31%cases,followed by fall of trees in 20.3%.Twenty-four patients were discharged after primary treatment,30 admitted to the indoor-trauma ward or intensive care unit and 20 deferred or transferred to another center.There was no in-house mortality.Challenges were related to electricity failure,mobile network breakdown,infrastructure collapse,and delay in expertise repair from outside due to airport/railway closure.Conclusion:In cyclonic storm like Fani,sharp flying objects,fall of trees/poles and collapsing walls constitute the common mode of injuries causing harm to more than one body regions.Polytrauma was seen in the majority of patients though external injury was the commonest.The

Recognition Algorithm and Risk Assessment of airport Hotspots

The hotspot recognition algorithm is proposed based on a potential collision in order to study the aircraft taxi conflicts in large airports.The spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of hotspots are analyzed based on the risk assessment model of hotspot constructed in this paper.Firstly,approaches for monitoring of the aerodrome movement were compared.The hotspot recognition algorithm taken into account of whether aircrafts'taxi track has spatial and temporal overlap based on the aerodrome surveillance radar(ASR)data was presented,by identifying the hotspots through analyzing whether the aircrafts'time of entering and exiting the same taxiway is overlap or not,and the heading difference and distance of the two aircrafts satisfy the specified threshold constraint condition.Then,the ASR data were divided into several parts,and then airport hotspots were recognized and the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics were analyzed.The risk assessment model of airport safety hotspots was constructed which is taken into account of the conflict probability and its severity consequence.Finally,based on the risk grade assessment criteria and hotspots'risk value,the risk grade ranking of hotspot in one airport of China was evaluated and designated.According to the result,the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of airport hotspots were varied with the variation of airport traffic flow and operational mode of runway,which shows that the hotspots have the characteristics of dynamic periodicity and diurnal variation.And the risk assessment results were consistent with experts'opinions and actual operation condition,which verified the rationality of the hotspot recognition algorithm,risk assessment model as well as the risk grade ranking criteria.

Dynamic response analysis of airport pavements during aircraft taxiing for evaluating pavement bearing capacity

In this paper,we propose a new method to analyze airport pavement bearing capacity using vibration in runways during aircraft taxiing.The new method overcomes shortcomings of existing tests,such as flight suspension and simulated loading.Between aircraft take-off and landing,acceleration sensors are arranged on the surface of the pavement far from the centerline,and the in-situ responses of the pavement under aircraft loads are collected during aircraft operations.The fundamental frequencies of the pavement are obtained by fast Fourier transformation of the measured accelerations,and are used to modify the parameters of a pavement finite element model built according to a design blueprint.By comparing the fundamental frequencies of the measured and calculated signals,the soil modulus is back-calculated.To implement this test method and ensure the accuracy of bearing capacity evaluation,aircraft dynamic loads are obtained by solving dynamic balance equations of the aircraft-pavement coupled system,and the vibration response of the pavement and sensitivity analysis of the fundamental frequencies are introduced.The results show that the fundamental frequencies at the center of the pavement are basically the same as those at the far side on the cross section;the fundamental frequencies in the depth direction remain constant,but the amplitude of the frequency spectrum decreases.The effect of the soil resilient modulus on the vibration frequency is most significant.The fundamental frequency increases from 6.02 to 10.55 Hz when the soil dynamic resilient modulus changes from 91 to 303 MPa.The effects of surface thickness and base thickness on the vibration frequency are less significant,and there is minimal influence when changing the dynamic elastic moduli of the surface layer or base layer.Field test results indicate the efficacy of the method of vibration measurement at the pavement surface to estimate the layer modulus of airport pavement.

So this paper is to provide development strategies for current airport logistics system by adjusting and improving the aviation logistics resources and system, and to win more opportunities for future development by grasping "golden development stage" of airport aviation logistics.

In this paper, ecosystem service value（ESV） valuation models is presented to serve the need of a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis. Environmental cost is subdivided into environmental degradation cost, and environmental mitigating cost. To quantify environmental degradation cost, Equivalent Factor Method（EFM） is employed to generate monetized ecosystem value. As for environmental mitigation cost, Life Cycle Cost Analysis is adopted to quantify negative environmental influence. Two models are applied on Ankang airport Project to evaluate the projects’ true value. The presented model contains more comprehensive factors, hence better decisions can be made.

3D Sector Optimum Partition of Airspace

A new method for sector optimum partition of airspace is proposed by dividing the fright altitude into several layers according to the distribution characteristics of the controller＇s workloads in an airspace. On the basis of the original distribution of the waypoints at each level of altitude, the sweel5 line algorithm of Voronoi diagram is used to divide them into certain polygons （ elements）, and the controller＇s workloads are calculated in each Voronoi polygon. Then by the rule about balance of controller＇s workload and by adding conditions of control handover or coordination for the sector, a mathematical model for the controller＇s workload based sector optimization is built. By the model, the Voronoi polygons are optimally partitioned. As a result, a 3D sector optimum partition of the whole airspace is formed by combining the sector optimum partitions at every layer. The actual airspace partition for Xiamen airport has proved the reasonability and effectiveness of the 3D sector optimum partition of airspace proposed.

This paper mainly studies the problem of irregular flights recovery under uncertain conditions.Based on the analysis of the uncertain factors affecting the flight, taking the total delay time and the total cost of flight delay as the objective function, and considering the constraints of flight plan and passenger journey, an uncertain objective programming model is constructed.Finally, taking OVS airport temporarily closed due to bad weather as an example, the results show that better quality optimization scheme can be obtained by integrating passenger recovery with narrow sense flight recovery stage and implementing integrated recovery.
