As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound *** study explores the potential benefits of traditional chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational *** patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct *** characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and *** findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(Psis also revealed that TCM treatment could partially mitigate inflammatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

BACKGROUND:Heatstroke has become a common emergency event in ***(PCT)is used as a biomarker of infection in the emergency department(ED),but its role in rhabdomyolysis(RM)following exertional heatstroke(EHs)remains ***:A retrospective cohort study enrolled patients with EHs from the intensive care unit(ICU).We collected RM biomarkers,inflammation markers,critical disease scores at admission,24 h,48 h,and discharge,and 90-day *** analysis,linear regression and curve fi tting were used to identify the relationship between PCT and ***:A total of 162 patients were recruited and divided into RM(n=56)and non-RM(n=106)*** was positively correlated with myoglobin(Mb),acute hepatic injury,disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC),sequential Organ Failure Assessment(sOFA)score,and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II(APACHE II)score,with correlation coefficients of 0.214,0.237,0.285,0.454,and 0.368,respectively(all Pstingly,the results of curve fi tting revealed a nonlinear relationship between PCT and RM,and a two-piecewise linear regression model showed that PCT was related to RM with an odds ratio of 1.3 and a cut-off ofsis revealed that RM was associated with higher mortality compared to non-RM cases(P=0.0093).CONCLUsION:High serum PCT concentrations are associated with RM after EHs in critically ill *** PCT concentrations should be interpreted cautiously in patients with EHs in the ED.

Objective This study aimed to comprehensively analyze and compare the clinicopathological features and prognosis of chinese patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-low early breast cancer(BC)and HER2-IHC0 *** Patients diagnosed with HER2-negative BC(N=999)at our institution between January2011 and December 2015 formed our study *** characteristics,association between estrogen receptor(ER)expression and HER2-low,and evolution of HER2 immunohistochemical(IHC)score were ***-Meier method and log-rank test were used to compare the long-term survival outcomes(5-year follow-up)between the HER2-IHC0 and HER2-low *** HER2-low BC group tended to demonstrate high expression of ER and more progesterone receptor(PgR)positivity than HER2-IHC0 BC group(Pstatus increased with increasing ER expression levels(Mantel-Haenszelχ^(2)test,Pson’s R=0.159,Psurvival analysis revealed a significantly longer overall survival(Os)in HER2-low BC group than in HER2-IHC0 group(P=0.007)in the whole cohort and the hormone receptor(HR)-negative *** were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of disease-free survival(DFs).The discordance rate of HER2 IHC scores between primary and metastatic sites was 36.84%.Conclusion HER2-low BC may not be regarded as a unique BC group in this population-based study due to similar clinicopathological features and prognostic roles.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the distribution of Traditional chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes in patients with diabetic kidney disease(DKD) and its related ***: We enrolled 435 patients with DKD, who were not undergoing dialysis, admitted to the Department of Nephrology, First Medical Center, chinese PLA general hospital from April 2020 to August *** of their TCM syndromes and related factors was carried ***: The 435 patients included 109, 117, 86, and 123 chronic kidney disease(CKD) 1-2, CKD3, CKD4, and CKD5 cases, respectively. With the progression of CKD1-5, the proportion of Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome,and that of Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome showed a downward trend, whereas the proportion of spleen-kidney Yang deficiency, blood deficiency, blood stasis, water stagnation, and phlegm turbidity syndromes showed an upward trend; the differences were statistically significant(P stic regression analysis showed that Yin deficiency and dry heat syndrome was positively correlated with hemoglobin [odds ratio(OR) =1.022, P = 0.005], albumin(OR = 1.058, P = 0.006), and estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)(OR = 1.020,P sex(OR =0.277, P = 0.004). Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome was positively correlated with albumin(OR = 1.056, P syndrome was positively correlated with age(OR = 1.028, P = 0.021) and glycosylated hemoglobin(OR = 1.223, P = 0.007) but negatively correlated with total cholesterol(OR = 0.792, P = 0.006).spleen-kidney Yang deficiency syndrome was negatively correlated with hemoglobin(OR = 0.977, P sitively correlated with high density lipoprotein(OR = 3.376, P = 0.001).
