Background:The field of personalized medicine has gained increasing attention in cancer care,with the aim of tailoring treatment strategies to individual patients for improved outcomes.Herbal medicine,with its long-standing historical use and extensive bioactive compounds,offers a rich source of potential treatments for various diseases,including cancer.Objective:To provide an overview of the current knowledge and evidence associated with incorporating herbal compounds into precision medicine strategies for cancer diseases.Additionally,to explore the general characteristics of the studies included in the analysis,focusing on their key features and trends.Search strategy:A comprehensive literature search was conducted from multiple online databases,including Pub Med,Scopus,Web of Science,and CINAHL-EBSCO.The search strategy was designed to identify studies related to personalized cancer medicine and herbal interventions.Inclusion criteria:Publications pertaining to cancer research conducted through in vitro,in vivo,and clinical studies,employing natural products were included in this review.Data extraction and analysis:Two review authors independently applied inclusion and inclusion criteria,data extraction,and assessments of methodological quality.The quality assessment and biases of the studies were evaluated based on modified Jadad scales.A detailed quantitative summary of the included studies is presented,providing a comprehensive description of their key features and findings.Results:A total of 121 studies were included in this review for analysis.Some of them were considered as comprehensive experimental investigations both in vitro and in vivo.The majority(n=85)of the studies included in this review were conducted in vitro,with 44 of them specifically investigating the effects of herbal medicine on animal models.Additionally,7 articles with a combined sample size of 31,271 patients,examined the impact of herbal medicine in clinical settings.Conclusion:Personalized medication can optimize the use of herbal m

SARS-CoV-2 infections manifest with a broad spectrum of presentations,ranging from asymptomatic infections to severe pneumonia and fatal outcomes.This review centers on asymptomatic infections,a widely reported phenomenon that has substantially contributed to the rapid spread of the pandemic.In such asymptomatic infections,we focus on the role of innate,humoral,and cellular immunity.Notably,asymptomatic infections are characterized by an early and robust innate immune response,particularly a swift type 1 IFN reaction,alongside a rapid and broad induction of SARS-CoV-2-specific T cells.Often,antibody levels tend to be lower or undetectable after asymptomatic infections,suggesting that the rapid control of viral replication by innate and cellular responses might impede the full triggering of humoral immunity.Even if antibody levels are present in the early convalescent phase,they wane rapidly below serological detection limits,particularly following asymptomatic infection.Consequently,prevalence studies reliant solely on serological assays likely underestimate the extent of community exposure to the virus.

The electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction(NitRR)represents a promising approach toward achieving economically and environmentally sustainable ammonia.However,it remains a challenge to regulate the size effect of electrocatalysts to optimize the catalytic activity and ammonia selectivity.Herein,the Cu-based catalysts were tailored at the atomic level to exhibit a size gradient ranging from single-atom catalysts(SACs,0.15–0.35 nm)to single-cluster catalysts(SCCs,1.0–2.8 nm)and nanoparticles(NPs,20–30 nm),with the aim of studying the size effect for the NO_(3)^(-)-to-NH_(3) reduction reaction.Especially,the Cu SCCs exhibit enhanced metal–substrate and metal–metal interactions by taking advantageous features of Cu SACs and Cu NPs.Thus,Cu SCCs achieve exceptional electrocatalytic performance for the NitRR with a maximum Faradaic efficiency of ca.96%NH_(3)and the largest yield rate of ca.1.99 mg·h^(-1)·cm^(-2) at-0.5 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE).The theoretical calculation further reveals the size effect and coordination environment on the high catalytic activity and selectivity for the NitRR.This work provides a promising various size-controlled design strategy for aerogel-based catalysts effectively applied in various electrocatalytic reactions.

While reliance on renewable energy resources has become a reality, there is still a need to deploy greener and more sustainable methods in order to achieve sustainable development goals. Indeed, green hydrogen is currently believed to be a reliable solution for global warming and the pollution challenges arising from fossil fuels, making it the resilient fuel of the future. However, the sustainability of green hydrogen technologies is yet to be achieved. In this context, generation of green hydrogen with the aid of deep eutectic solvents(DESs) as green mixtures has been demonstrated as a promising research area. This systematic review article covers green hydrogen generation through water splitting and biomass fermentation when DESs are utilized within the generation process. It also discusses the incorporation of DESs in fuel cell technologies. DESs can play a variety of roles such as solvent, electrolyte, or precursor;colloidal suspension and reaction medium;galvanic replacement, shape-controlling, decoration, or extractive agent;finally oxidant. These roles are relevant to several methods of green hydrogen generation, including electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and fermentation. As such, it is of utmost importance to screen potential DES formulations and determine how they can function in and contribute throughout the green hydrogen mobility stages. The realization of super green hydrogen generation stands out as a pivotal milestone in our journey towards achieving a more sustainable form of development;DESs have great potential in making this milestone achievable. Overall, incorporating DESs in hydrogen generation constitutes a promising research area and offers potential scalability for green hydrogen production, storage,transport, and utilization.

Conventionally,to produce a linear motion,one motor’s stator is employed to drive one runner moving forward or backward.So far,there is almost no report of one electromechanical motor or piezoelectric ultrasonic motor that can directly generate two symmetrical linear motions,while this function is desired for precise scissoring and grasping in the minimally invasive surgery field.Herein,we report a brandnew symmetric-actuating linear piezoceramic ultrasonic motor capable of generating symmetrical linear motions of two outputs directly without additional mechanical transmission mechanisms.The key component of the motor is an(2×3)arrayed piezoceramic bar stator operating in the coupled resonant mode of the first longitudinal(L_(1))and third bending(B_(3))modes,leading to symmetric elliptical vibration trajectories at its two ends.A pair of microsurgical scissors is used as the end-effector,demonstrating a very promising future for high-precision microsurgical operations.

In two recent articles published in Nature Neuroscience and Cell,Nelson et al.1 and Chen et al.2 have shown that a rare APOE3 Christchurch(APOE3Ch)variant,R136S,has protective effects on neurodegeneration in various Alzheimer’s disease(AD)model systems through attenuating tau pathology and regulating its related neuroimmune responses.Nelson et al.and Chen et al.have provided evidence that identifying the pathophysiologic clues and potential molecular targets from a protective variant such as APOE R136S,can be an attractive viable approach to develop AD therapeutics.

Individuals with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)have been reported to be at an increased risk of infertility and sexual dysfunction.Although the relationship between them remains unclear,IBD severity is suspected to affect hormone levels and fertility.To analyze the impact of IBD severity on semen parameters and sex hormone levels in ulcerative colitis-type IBD(UC-IBD),we conducted a cross-sectional study involving 120 patients with UC-IBD in Adam Malik General Hospital,Medan,Indonesia.The patients were classified into three groups based on the Mayo score for Uc,followed by a comparison of various semen and hormone parameters among these groups.In addition to the cross-sectional analysis,a simple correlation test was conducted irrespective of the patient grouping.Sperm concentration,motility,and morphology were found to decline significantly with an increase in IBD severity.Without classifying patients with IBD into subgroups,the Mayo score showed negative correlations with sperm concentration(r=-0.375,Pstudy suggests a significant negative impact of IBD severityonsemenqualityand sexhormones.

Peri-urban areas are playing an increasingly crucial role in the agricultural development and intensification in Indonesia.Peri-urban agriculture is highly vulnerable to change compared with urban and rural agriculture,due to its location in transitional areas.Indicators of peri-urban agricultural intensity can help guide regional development.In this study,we assessed the sustainability of peri-urban areas based on agricultural intensity in Karawang Regency,Indonesia.We developed a village-based index to assess the region’s agricultural intensity by rescaling the village agriculture index(VAI)and combining the local sustainability index(LSI)with factor analysis.Since the unit of analysis is the village,we modified the LSI to the village sustainability index(VSI).In addition,we also developed a logical matrix analysis to determine the level of agricultural sustainability(LoAS)of each village.The combined results of the three indices(VAI,VSI,and LoAS)generated information about agricultural sustainability.The results indicated that peri-urban villages with high agricultural intensity tended to exhibit low levels of social welfare,economic development,and disaster risk.Moreover,high agricultural intensity did not necessarily ensure the prosperity of the people.Instead,there was the economic disparity among the villages in the study area.Encouraging diversity of agricultural intensity seems to be more critical than promoting agricultural intensity itself.Overall,this study highlights the distinctive characteristics and dynamic of peri-urban areas.New approaches,variables,and information regarding the combination of agricultural intensity and sustainability need to be developed as valuable tools for regional planning.

Motivated by geometric Langlands, we initiate a program to study the mirror symmetry between nilpotent orbit closures of a semisimple Lie algebra and those of its Langlands dual. The most interesting case is Bn via Cn. Classically, there is a famous Springer duality between special orbits. Therefore, it is natural to speculate that the mirror symmetry we seek may coincide with Springer duality in the context of special orbits.Unfortunately, such a naive statement fails. To remedy the situation, we propose a conjecture which asserts the mirror symmetry for certain parabolic/induced covers of special orbits. Then, we prove the conjecture for Richardson orbits and obtain certain partial results in general. In the process, we reveal some very interesting and yet subtle structures of these finite covers, which are related to Lusztig’s canonical quotients of special nilpotent orbits. For example, there is a mysterious asymmetry in the footprint or range of degrees of these finite covers. Finally, we provide two examples to show that the mirror symmetry fails outside the footprint.
