Genomic analysis provides insights into the westward expansion of domesticated peaches in China

Peach, an economically important model plant of the Rosaceae family, has been domesticated and cultivated in China for approximately5 000 years. The Hexi Corridor, an important corridor connecting east-central China and the Tarim Basin, is the starting point of the Silk Road that links China and the Eurasian region. As a globally distributed fruit tree, the spread of peach was accomplished through historical trade routes in the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin. However, knowledge of peach genetic diversity in these regions remains limited. In this study,we examined the relationships and the spread history of domesticated peaches through sequencing and genomic analysis of 161 peach accessions collected from Northwest China, including 43 from the Hexi Corridor and 104 from the Tarim Basin. The results indicate that peach landraces in the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin are derivatives of peaches from the east and south of China (ESC). Notably, the genetic diversity of accessions from both the Hexi Corridor and the Tarim Basin was lower than that of ESC accessions. Reduction of diversity (ROD) and linkage disequilibrium (LD) analyses detected a genetic bottleneck in peaches from these regions. Additionally, these peaches have undergone varying degrees of selection from natural environment. Moreover, genes responsive to biotic and abiotic stresses were under selection, which could be the result of the climate change of Northwest China after the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Our findings provide a better understanding of the genetic basis of peach migration in Northwest China. Furthermore, this study expands the available genomic data for peaches and provides critical information for future peach breeding programs.

Spatiotemporal evolution and future simulation of land use/land cover in the Turpan-Hami Basin, China

The Turpan-Hami(Tuha) Basin in xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region of China, holds significant strategic importance as a key economic artery of the ancient Silk Road and the Belt and Road Initiative, necessitating a holistic understanding of the spatiotemporal evolution of land use/land cover(LULC) to foster sustainable planning that is tailored to the region's unique resource endowments. However, existing LULC classification methods demonstrate inadequate accuracy, hindering effective regional planning. In this study, we established a two-level LULC classification system(8 primary types and 22 secondary types) for the Tuha Basin. By employing Landsat 5/7/8 imagery at 5-a intervals, we developed the LULC dataset of the Tuha Basin from 1990 to 2020, conducted the accuracy assessment and spatiotemporal evolution analysis, and simulated the future LULC under various scenarios via the Markov-Future Land Use Simulation(Markov-FLUS) model. The results revealed that the average overall accuracy values of our LULC dataset were 0.917 and 0.864 for the primary types and secondary types, respectively. Compared with the seven mainstream LULC products(Globe Land30, Global 30-meter Land Cover with Fine Classification System(GLC＿FCS30), Finer Resolution Observation and Monitoring of Global Land Cover PLUS(FROM＿GLC PLUS), ESA Global Land Cover(ESA＿LC), Esri Land Cover(ESRI＿LC), China Multi-Period Land Use Land Cover Change Remote Sensing Monitoring Dataset(CNLUCC), and China Annual Land Cover Dataset(CLCD)) in 2020, our LULC data exhibited dramatically elevated overall accuracy and provided more precise delineations for land features, thereby yielding high-quality data backups for land resource analyses within the basin. The load-bearing performance(LBP)of pumpable supports(PPS)is crucial for the stability of longwall pre-driven recovery room(PRR)surrounding ***,the unbalanced bearing coefficient(UBC)of the PPS(undertaking unequal load along the mining direction)has not been investigated.A mechanical model of the PRR was established,considering the main roof cantilever beam structure,to derive an assessment formula for the load,the failure criteria,and the UBC of the ***,the generation mechanisms,and influencing factors of the UBC were *** sensitivity analysis shows that the main roof hanging length(l_(2))and the spacing between the PPS(r)significantly impact the UBC.A novel design of the PPS and the coupling control technology were proposed and applied to reduce the UBC of the PPS in the adjacent longwall *** results showed no failure of the PPS at the test site,with the UBC(ζ)reduced to 1.1 consistent with the design value(1.15)basically,fully utilizing the collaborative LBP of the ***,the maximum roof-to-floor convergence of the PRR was 234 mm,effectively controlling the stability of the surrounding rock of the PRR and ensuring the mining equipment recovery.

Seasonal prediction of extreme high-temperature days over the Yangtze River basin

Extreme high temperatures occur frequently over the densely populated Yangtze River basin(YRB)in China during summer,significantly impacting the local economic development and ecological ***,accurate prediction of extreme high-temperature days in this region remains a ***,the Climate Forecast System Version 2(CFSv2)exhibits poor performance in this ***,based on the interannual increment approach,we develop a hybrid seasonal prediction model over the YRB(HM_(YRB))to improve the prediction of extreme high-temperature days in *** HM_(YRB)relies on the following four predictors:the observed preceding April-May snowmelt in north western Europe;the snow depth in March over the central Siberian Plateau;the CFSv2-forecasted concurrent summer sea surface temperatures around the Maritime Continent;and the 200-hPa geopotential height over the Tibetan *** HM_(YRB)indicates good capabilities in predicting the interannual variability and trend of extreme high-temperature days,with a markable correlation coefficient of 0.58 and a percentage of the same sign(PSS)of 76% during 1983-2015 in the one-year-out ***,the HM_(YRB) maintains high PSS skill(86%)and robustness in the independent prediction period(2016-2022).Furthermore,the HM_(YRB) shows a good performance for years with high occurrence of extreme high-temperature days,with a hit ratio of 40%.These predictors used in HM_(YRB)are beneficial in terms of the prediction skill for the average daily maximum temperature in summer over the YRB,albeit with biases existing in the *** study provides promising insights into the prediction of 2022-like hot extremes over the YRB in China.

Knockdown of the atypical protein kinase genes GhABC1K2-A05 and GhABC1K12-A07 make cotton more sensitive to salt and PEG stress

Activity of bc1 complex kinase(ABC1K)is an atypical protein kinase(aPK)that plays a crucial role in plant mitochondrial and plastid stress responses,but little is known about the responses of ABC1Ks to stress in cotton(Gossypium spp.).Here,we identified 40 ABC1Ks in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)and found that the Gh ABC1Ks were unevenly distributed across 17 *** GhABC1K family members included 35 paralogous gene pairs and were expanded by segmental *** GhABC1K promoter sequences contained diverse cis-acting regulatory elements relevant to hormone or stress *** qRT-PCR results revealed that most Gh ABC1Ks were upregulated by exposure to different *** ABC1K2-A05 and Gh ABC1K12-A07 expression levels were upregulated by at least three stress *** genes were further functionally characterized by virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS).Compared with the controls,the Gh ABC1K2-A05-and Gh ABC1K12-A07-silenced cotton lines exhibited higher malondialdehyde(MDA)contents,lower catalase(CAT),peroxidase(POD)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)activities and reduced chlorophyll and soluble sugar contents under NaCl and PEG *** addition,the expression levels of six stress marker genes(Gh DREB2A,Gh SOS1,Gh CIPK6,Gh SOS2,Gh WRKY33,and Gh RD29A)were significantly downregulated after stress in the Gh ABC1K2-A05-and Gh ABC1K12-A07-silenced *** results indicate that knockdown of Gh ABC1K2-A05 and Gh ABC1K12-A07 make cotton more sensitive to salt and PEG *** findings can provide valuable information for intensive studies of Gh ABC1Ks in the responses and resistance of cotton to abiotic stresses.

A novel three-inflection-point sliding mode control framework for forward-tilting morphing aerospace vehicle with performance constraints and actuator faults

Permian ridge subduction-related magmatism in the Chinese Altai: Insights from geochronology and geochemistry of the Jiangjunshan pluton

The Chinese Altai is an important constituent of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt， a prominent Phanerozoic accretionary orogenic belt. Oceanic-continental subduction processes during the Cambrian–Carboniferous and intracontinental extension from the Triassic onwards have been well constrained in the Chinese Altai， the southwestern portion of the CAOB. Characterizing the petrogenetic evolution of the Chinese Altai during the Permian has， therefore， been considered critical to enhancing our understanding of the tectonic transformations that occurred in this region. Despite this， the tectonic environment of the Chinese Altai during this period remains equivocal. To address this deficiency， this contribution characterizes the age of formation and geochemical composition of the Jiangjunshan pluton located in the southern portion of the Chinese Altai. Zircon U-Pb geochronology demonstrates that the gabbro and two-mica alkali feldspar granite， which comprise the main body of the Jiangjunshan pluton， formed at ca. 272 ± 3.5 and 272 ± 1.6 Ma， respectively. Geochemically， the gabbro is depleted in light rare earth elements （LREE）， has low Nb/Yb （0.39–0.46） and Ti/V （23.7–25.3） ratios， exhibits trace-element characteristics resembling normal mid-ocean ridge basalts （N-MORB）， but is depleted in Nb and Ta similar to island arc basalts. The depleted Hf and Nd isotope compositions (εHf（t） = +0.60 to +4.63， εNd（t） = +6.32 to +7.80) of the gabbro， coupled with the weak correlation between εNd（t） values and SiO2contents， suggest that the magma from which it crystallized was slightly contaminated by crustal material during its evolution. Based on the Sm， Yb， and La contents， it is inferred that the melt from which the gabbro crystallized originated from approximately 8–20% partial melting of spinel lherzolite mantle. The depleted Hf and Nd isotope compositions (εHf（t） = +6.81 to +9.10， εNd（t） = +0.79 to +1.45) of the granite， combined with petrographic observations （e.g.， absent of the
