Stand establishment,root development and yield of winter wheat as affected by tillage and straw mulch in the water deficit hilly region of southwestern China

Good crop stand establishment and root system development are essential for optimum grain yield of dryland wheat （Triti-cum aestivumL.）. At present, little is known about the effect of tilage and straw mulch on the root system of wheat under dryland areas in southwestern China. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of three tilage treatments （no-til, NT; rotary til, RT; conventional til, CT） and two crop residue management practices （straw mulch, ML; non-straw mulch, NML） on stand establishment, root growth and grain yield of wheat. NT resulted in lower soil cover thickness for the wheat seed, higher number of uncovered seeds, lower percentage of seedling-less ridges and lower tiler density compared to RT and CT; ML resulted in higher tiler density compared to NML. Straw mulching resulted in more soil water content and root length density （RLD） at most of the growth stages and soil depths. The maximum RLD, root surface area density and root dry matter density were obtained under NT. In the topmost 10 cm soil layer, higher RLD values were found under NT than those under RT and CT. There were no signiifcant differences in the yield or yield components of wheat among the tilage treatments in 2011–2012, but NT resulted in a signiifcant higher yield compared to RT and CT in 2012–2013. Grain yield was signiifcantly higher in ML compared to in NML. A strong relationship was observed between the water-use efifciency and the grain yield. Both NT and ML proved beneifcial for wheat in term of maintaining higher tiler density, better soil water status and root growth, leading to a higher grain yield and enhanced water-use efifciency, especialy in a low rainfal year.

Distributions and risk assessment of heavy metals in solid waste in lead-zinc mining areas and across the soil, water body, sediment and agricultural product ecosystem in their surrounding areas

To identify the root causes of heavy metal contamination in soils as well as prevent and control such contamination from its sources,this study explored the accumulation patterns and ecological risks of heavy metals like Cd and Pb in solid waste in mining areas and across the water body,sediment,soil and agricultural product ecosystem surrounding the mining *** on the residual solid waste samples in lead-zinc deposits in a certain area of Guizhou Province,along with samples of topsoils,irrigation water,river sediments,and crops from surrounding *** study analyzed the distributions of eight heavy metals,i.e.,Cd,As,Cr,Hg,Pb,Zn,Cu,and Ni,in the samples through field surveys and sample ***,this study assessed the contamination levels and ecological risks of heavy metals in soils,sediments,and agricultural products using methods such as the single-factor index,Nemerow composite index,and potential ecological risk *** results indicate that heavy metals in the solid waste samples all exhibited concentrations exceeding their risk screening values,with 60%greater than their risk intervention *** soils and sediments demonstrate slight and moderate comprehensive ecological risks of heavy *** single-factor potential ecological risks of heavy metals in both the soil and sediment samples decreased in the order of Hg,Cd,Pb,As,Cu,Zn,Cr,and Ni,suggesting the same sources of heavy metals in the soils and *** of the agricultural product samples exhibited over-limit concentrations of heavy metals dominated by Cd,Pb,Ni,and Cr,excluding Hg and *** agricultural product assessment using the Nemerow composite index reveals that 35%of the agricultural product samples reached the heavy metal contamination level,implying that the agricultural products from farmland around the solid waste dumps have been contaminated with heavy *** eight heavy metals in the soil,sediment,and agricultural product samples manifested hig

In view of the series of problems found in the rural collective economic audit in Zhangdian District of Zibo city in the past five years,this study used empirical research methods to deeply analyze the current situation and existing problems of the village collective audit *** this basis,typical cases were selected for in-depth analysis,the effects of different audit modes were compared,and the reliable paths to improve the efficiency of village collective audit were studied and *** results show that the social governance strategy plays a positive role in improving the efficiency of village collective *** study is expected to provide a reference for the improvement of village collective audit efficiency,and is of great significance to improve the village collective financial management and promote the improvement of the rural governance system.

Design and testing of a liftable chassis for rice harvester

During the operation of the rice combine harvester,the fuselage tilts due to the tilt and unevenness of the ground affect its maneuverability and operational *** at the problem of leveling due to the tilt of the field surface,this research developed an innovative dual-parallelogram chassis lifting mechanism for rice harvesters designed a hydraulic system to adjust the chassis height by extending the *** Adams simulation software,a detailed model of the lifting chassis was constructed to analyze its performance,revealing a direct correlation between the hydraulic cylinder extension and chassis ***,the mechanism could achieve leveling on slopes with inclination angles of up to 7.5°.Comprehensive evaluations of the liftable chassis system were conducted under both static and dynamic *** the static tests,the system exhibited the capacity for comprehensive or unilateral auto-leveling contingent upon the tilt,with leveling times and angular variations confined to 3.6 s and±0.4°,*** dynamic tests conducted on sloped fields and paddy soils,the system reduced post-leveling mean tilt angles and standard deviations remained below 1.2°and 0.6°,*** results demonstrated a substantial improvement in the stability and reliability of the chassis during *** research provides valuable insights into the design and optimization of automatic leveling mechanisms and structural innovations for harvester chassis.

Landscape pattern and its restoration for coal mine subsidence area in southern part of Tangshan in China

To investigate the ecosystem damage and environment pollution resulted from coal resources exploitation,based on remote sensing image,the landscape pattern was quantitatively analyzed with GIS and landscape pattern analysis software FRAGSTATS by utilizing multiform landscape pattern indexes,such as patch area,patch circumference,patch number,fractal dimension,fragmentation index,connectivity index and so on. Results indicate that the restored landscape type occupies the control status and accounts for the majority of the whole area,and needs to be further restored and adjusted because of its internal body with smaller patches,lower fractal dimension and better connectivity. The landscape type without restoration has destroyed the ecology and beauty of the whole landscape. In addition,some suggestive instructions for restoring various kinds of patches are put forward according to the quantitative analysis.

Hillslope soil erosion and runoff model for natural rainfall events

By using the momentum theorem and waterbalance principle, basic equations of slope runoff were derived, soil erosion by raindrop splash and runoff were discussed and a model was established for decribing hillslope soil erosion processes. The numerical solution of the model was obtained by adopting the Preissmann format and considering the common solution-determining conditions, from which not only the runoff and soil erosion but also their processes can be described. The model was validated by ten groups of observation data of Soil Conservation Ecological Science and Technology Demonstration Park of Jiangxi Province. Comparisons show that the maximum relative error between simulation and experimental data is about 10.98% for total runoff and 15 % for total erosion, 5.2% for runoffprocess and 6.1% for erosion process, indicating that the model is conceptually realistic and reliable and offers a feasible approach for further studies on the soil erosion process.

Effect of UV-B radiation on the population dynamics of the rotifer Brachionus urceus

The effect of UV-B radiation enhancement at experimental doses of 0.00,0.24,0.48,0.72,0.96,and 1.20 kJ/m 2 on the population dynamics of the rotifer Brachionus urceus feeding on the alga Chlorella *** studied under controlled laboratory conditions using clonal culture and life-table *** results show that UV-B radiation treatment significantly shortened the survival time of the rotifer （P 0.05）： The longest survival time （336 h） occurred in the control （0.00 kJ/m 2 ） while the shortest （222 h） occurred when exposed to the highest UV-B radiation treatment （1.20 kJ/m 2 ）.The fecundity of the rotifer *** was enhanced by the lower UV-B radiation treatment （0.24 and 0.48 kJ/m 2 ） but inhibited by the higher treatments （0.96 and 1.20 kJ/m 2 ）.Life expectancy also was obviously affected by UV-B radiation （P 0.05）.The highest life expectancy occurred in the control （0.00 kJ/m 2 ）,and it became shorter with increasing doses of UV-B *** resutls in the present study indicate that the life expectancy of the rotifer *** can be used as an indicator for UV-B radiation enhancement.

Full Mechanized Production Technology for Double-Low Rapeseed in Xianning city

This paper standardizes the operation of rapeseed production including variety choosing,field preparation,mechanical seeding,field management,mechanical harvesting etc.,to realize full mechanization of rapeseed production. The key technologies: the optimum sowing date was from mid-September to mid-October in rapeseed-rice（corn） double cropping system region,and from mid-October to late October in rapeseed-rice-rice triple-cropping region; seeding rate was 4. 5 kg/ha-6. 0 kg/ha; the optimum density was 450000-750000 plants per ha;150-240 kg N fertilizer,60-90 kg P2O5 fertilizer,90-135 kg K2O fertilizer and 7. 5-15 kg B fertilizer were used per ha,50% of N fertilizer and the rest of fertilizer were used as basal fertilizer; segmented harvesting was done when 70%-80% of siliques per plant was yellow and combined harvesting was done when more than 90% of siliques per plant was yellow or brown.

Chemical Application for Prevention and Control of Post-harvest Citrus Diseases

[ Objective] To study the control efficiency of 45% Prochloraz amines ME and 500 g/L Triabendazole SC for the post-harvest diseases of citrus fruits, and the economic and efficient dosage and application techniques. [ Method] Carry out prevention and control test of common post-harvest diseases of tangerines, such as anthracnose, green mold and penicillium disease. [ Result] The experiment agent 45% Prochloraz amines ME showed excellent effect in controlling post- harvest anthracnose of citrus fruits, the 45t^-day control efficiency was above 73% ; the 45ts-day control efficiency of 45% Prochloras amines ME and 500 g/L Tri- abendazole SC for green mold and penicillium disease was above 72%. [ Conclusion] 45% Prochloraz amines ME and 500 g/L Triabendazole SC are two ideal agents for preventing and controlling post-harvest diseases and safeguarding quality of citrus fruits.

Climatic Zoning of Tea Tree Planting in Hanzhong city

[ Objective] The research aimed to study climatic zoning of tea tree cultivation in Hanzhong. [Method] Based on climate data at 11 meteorological observatories of Hanzhong during 1971 -2010, selecting annual average extreme minimum temperature, annual average temperature, accumulative temperature ≥10 ℃ and annual rainfall as climatic zoning factors, regression model between zoning factors and geographic information was established, and comprehensive climatic zoning indicator of tea tree cultivation in Hanzhong was determined. [ Result] Tea tree cultivation in Hanzhong was divided into suitable, more suitable and unsuitable planting zones by using critical value of climatic zoning. [ Conclusion] The research could provide scientific basis for reasonable planning layout and sustainable development of tea tree in the whole city.
