In men, obesity and metabolic complications are associated with lower serum testosterone （T） and dihydrotestosterone （DHT） and an increased risk of, and mortality from, multiple chronic diseases in addition to cardiovascular disease （CVD）. The causal interrelationships between these factors remain a matter of debate. In men with untreated congenital and lifelong forms of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, there appears to be no increased risk. Men with Klinefelter＇s syndrome have an increased risk of various types of cancers, as well as CVD, which persist despite T therapy. In the absence of pathology of the hypothalamic-pituitary- gonadal axis, the effect of modest reductions in serum T in aging men is unclear. The prevalence of low serum T concentrations is high in men with cancer, renal disease, and respiratory disease and is likely to be an indicator of severity of systemic disease, not hypogonadism. Some population-based studies have found low serum T to be associated with a higher risk of deaths attributed to cancer, renal disease, and respiratory disease, while others have not. Although a meta-analysis of longitudinal studies has shown an association between low serum T and all-cause mortality, marked heterogeneity between studies limited a firm conclusion. Therefore, while a decrease in T particularly occurring later in life may be associated with an increase in all-cause and specific types of mortality in men, the differential effects, if any, of T and other sex steroids as compared to health and lifestyle factors are unknown at the current time.

Dredging operations produce considerable quantities of materials, to be managed and this opens an opportunity for valorization in civil engineering. However, the contamination of the dredged sediment has become a major problem to solve. The major contaminants are heavy metals and organic compounds This study focuses on the use of phosphoric acid(H3 PO4) to stabilize heavy metals from sediments an destroy organic matter by calcination at 650 °C with a goal of using sediments in roadworks. Severa studies have been conducted in this field. The stabilized materials obtained have been used in civ engineering. The main purpose of this work is to discuss the environmental behavior of marine sedimen treated by phosphatation and calcination. Two types of phosphoric acids were used. The p H dependenc leaching test has been used as the basic characterization to evaluate the effect of the type of phosphori acid on the metals behavior in a valorization scenario. The standard leaching test and the Toxicit Characteristic Leaching Procedure(TCLP) were conducted as compliance tests. In regards of the obtaine results, the environmental assessment has also shown a reduction in the availability of targeted heav metals in alkaline environment whatever the type of acid used for treatment. This opens opportunitie for co-valorization.

The increasing demand for resources and depletion of near ground mineral resources caused deeper mining operations under highstress rock mass *** a result of this,strain burst,which is the sudden release of stored strain energy in the surrounding rock mass,has become more prevalent and created a considerable threat to workers and construction *** is,therefore,imperative to understand how strain burst mechanism and stored excess strain energy are affected due to the high confinement in deep underground *** this purpose,post-peak energy distributions for brittle rocks were investigated using a newly developed energy calculation method associated with acoustic emission(AE).A series of quasi-static uniaxial and triaxial compression tests controlled by the circumferential expansion were ***-back behaviour known as Class-II behaviour associated with energy evolution and the material response under self-sustaining failure were analysed on granites under a wide range of confining pressures(0–60 MPa).The experimental results underline that the energy evolution characteristics are strongly linked to *** elastic strain energy(dUE),energy consumed by dominating cohesion weakening(dUCW)and energy dissipated during mobilisation of frictional failure(dUFM)showed a rising trend as the confining pressure was *** intrinsic ejection velocity was proposed to express the propensity of strain burst that was purely determined by the excess strain energy released from Class II rock.

The Oyu Tolgoi cluster of seven porphyry Cu-Au-Mo deposits in southern Mongolia,define a narrow,linear,12 km long,almost continuously mineralised trend,which contains in excess of 42 Mt of Cu and1850 t of Au,and is among the largest high grade porphyry Cu-Au deposits in the *** deposits lie within the Gurvansayhan island-arc terrane,a fault bounded segment of the broader Silurian to Carboniferous Kazakh-Mongol arc,located towards the southern margin of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt,a collage of magmatic arcs that were periodically active from the late Neoproterozoic to PermoTriassic,extending from the Urals Mountains to the Pacific *** at Oyu Tolgoi is associated with multiple,overlapping,intrusions of late Devonian（～372 to 370 Ma） quartzmonzodiorite intruding Devonian（or older） juvenile,probably intra-oceanic arc-related,basaltic lavas and lesser volcaniclastic rocks,unconformably overlain by late Devonian（～370 Ma） basaltic to dacitic pyroclastic and volcano sedimentary *** quartz-monzodiorite intrusions range from earlymineral porphyritic dykes,to larger,linear,syn-,late- and post-mineral dykes and *** was deposited within syn-mineral quartz-monzodiorites,but is dominantly hosted by augite basalts and to a lesser degree by overlying dacitic pyroclastic *** ore deposition,an allochthonous plate of older Devonian（or pre-Devonian） rocks was overthrust and a post-ore biotite granodiorite intruded at～365 *** is characterised by varying,telescoped stages of intrusion and *** A-type quartz veined dykes were followed by Cu-Au mineralisation associated with potassic alteration,mainly K-feldspar in quartz-monzodiorite and biotite-magnetite in basaltic *** reflux of cooled,late-magmatic hydrothermal fluid resulted in intense quartz-sericite retrograde alteration in the upper parts of the main syn-mineral intrusions,and an equivalent chlorite-muscovite/illite-hematite assemblage in bas

Addition of clay-rich subsoil to sandy soil results in heterogeneous soil with clay peds （2-mm） or finely ground （〈 2 mm） clay soil （FG）, which may affect the nutrient availability. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of clay soil particle size （FG or peds） and properties on nutrient availability and organic C binding in sandy soil after addition of residues with low （young kikuyu grass, KG） or high （faba bean, FB） C/N ratio. Two clay soils with high and low smectite percentage, clay and exchangeable Fe and A1 were added to a sandy soil at a rate of 20% （weight/weight） either as FG or peds. Over 45 d, available N and P as well as microbial biomass N and P concentrations and cumulative respiration were greater in soils with residues of KG than FB. For soils with KG residues, clay addition increased available N and initial microbial biomass C and N concentrations, but decreased cumulative respiration and P availability compared to sandy soil without clay. Differences in measured parameters between clay type and size were inconsistent and varied with time except the increase in total organic C in the 〈 53 μm fraction during the experiment, which was greater for soils with FG than with peds. We concluded that the high exchangeable Fe and A1 concentrations in the low-smectite clay soil can compensate a lower clay concentration and proportion of smectite with respect to binding of organic matter and nutrients.
