Enhanced thermoelectric performance of hydrothermally synthesized polycrystalline Te-doped SnSe

In this study,large-scale Te-doped polycrystalline SnSe nanopowders were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal approach and the effect of Te doping on the thermoelectric properties of SnSe was fully *** is found that the carrier concentration increases due to the reduction of band gap by alloying with Te,which contributes to significant enhancement of electrical conductivity especially at room *** with the moderated Seebeck coefficient,a high power factor of 4.59μW cm 1 K 2 is obtained at 773 ***,the lattice the rmal conductivity is greatly reduced upon Te substitution owing to the atomic point defect *** from the synergistically optimized both electrical-and thermal-transport properties by Te-doping,thermoelectric performance of polycrystalline SnSe is enhanced in the whole temperature range with a maximum ZT of-0.79 at a relatively low temperature(773 K) for *** study provides a low-cost and simple lowtemperature method to mass production of SnSe with high thermoelectric performance for practical applications.

Atomic-Scale Friction Studies on Single-Crystal Gallium Arsenide Using Atomic Force Microscope and Molecular Dynamics Simulation

This paper provides a fresh perspective and new insights into nanoscale friction by investigating it through molecular dynamics(MD)simulation and atomic force microscope(AFM)nanoscratch *** work considered gallium arsenide,an importantⅢ-Ⅴdirect bandgap semiconductor material residing in the zincblende structure,as a reference sample material due to its growing usage in 5G communication *** the simulations,the scratch depth was tested as a variable in the fine range of 0.5-3 nm to understand the behavior of material removal and to gain insights into the nanoscale *** force,normal force,and average cutting forces were extracted from the simulation to obtain two scalar quantities,namely,the scratch cutting energy(defined as the work performed to remove a unit volume of material)and the kinetic coefficient of friction(defined as the force ratio).A strong size effect was observed for scratch depths below 2 nm from the MD simulations and about 15 nm from the AFM experiments.A strong quantitative corroboration was obtained between the specific scratch energy determined by the MD simulations and the AFM experiments,and more qualitative corroboration was derived for the pile-up and the kinetic coefficient of *** conclusion suggests that the specific scratch energy is insensitive to the tool geometry and the scratch speed used in this ***,the pile-up and kinetic coefficient of friction are dependent on the geometry of the tool tip.

The pressure induced phase transitions of RuB2 from the OsB2-type structure to the ReB2-type structure are investigated by first-principles calculations based on the plane-wave basis set with the generalized gradient ap- proximation for exchange and correlation. It is found that the phase transition occurs at 18.6 GPa. We predict the phase transition from the OsB2-type RuB2 to the ReB2-type RuB2 at high temperatures for the first time. The dependences of the heat capacity, thermal expansion coefficient, and the Grüneisen parameter on pressure and temperature for OsB2-type RuB2 and ReB2-type RuB2 are also investigated.

Transparent electromagnetic(EM)shielding glass with a metal mesh has significant potential for application in different fields of EM radiation and anti-EM interference light-transmitting observation *** particular,a transparent EM-shielding glass with a large-aspect-ratio metal mesh can effectively alleviate the contradictory problems of shielding effectiveness and light-transmission performance ***,the fabrication of high-aspect-ratio metal meshes on glass substrates has problems such as high cost,complex processes,low efficiency,small area,and easy damage issues,which limit their application in the field of high-performance,transparent EM-shielding ***,this paper proposes a composite additive manufacturing process based on electric-field-driven microjet 3D printing and *** fabricating metal meshes with an Ag-Cu core-shell structure on a glass substrate,EM-shielding glass with high shielding efficiency and light transmission can be manufactured without increasing the aspect ratio of the metal *** prepared Ag-Cu composite metal mesh has excellent optoelectronic properties(period 250𝜇m,line width 10𝜇m,90.1%transmission at 550 nm visible light,square resistance 0.21Ω/sq),efficient electrothermal effect(3 V DC voltage can reach 189°C steady-state temperature),stable EM-shielding effectiveness(average shielding effectiveness 23 dB at X-band),and acceptable mechanical and environmental stability(less than 3%change in square resistance after 150-times adhesion test and less than 6%and 0.6%change in resistance after 72 h in acid and alkali environments,respectively).This method provides a new solution for the mass production of high-performance large-area transparent electric heating/EM-shielding glass.

Identification and functional verification of Y-chromosome-specific gene typo-gyf in Bactrocera dorsalis

Genes on the Y chromosome play important roles in male sex determination and *** identification of Y-chromosome-specific genes not only provides a theoretical basis for the study of male reproductive development,but also offers genetic control targets for agricultural ***,Y-chromosome genes are rarely characterized due to their high repeatability and high heterochromatinization,especially in the oriental fruit *** this study,1011 Y-chromosome-specific candidate sequences were screened from 2 to 4 h Bactrocera dorsalis embryo datasets with the chromosome quotient method,6 of which were identified as Y-chromosome-specific sequences by polymerase chain reaction,including typo-gyf,a 19126-bp DNA sequence containing a 575-amino acid open reading *** deformation and a significant reduction in sperm number were observed after typo-gyf knockdown with RNA interference in *** typo-gyf knockout with clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 in the embryonic stage,the sex ratio of the emergent adults was unbalanced,with far more females than males.A genotype analysis of these females with the Y-chromosome gene MoY revealed no sex ***-gyf knockout led to the death of XY individuals in the embryonic *** conclude that typo-gyf is an essential gene for male survival,and is also involved in testicular development and *** identification of typo-gyf and its functional verification provide insight into the roles of Y-chromosome genes in male development.
