Principles of inexpensive biotechnology are being increasingly used to address the problems posed by the use of lithium-sulfur *** used chitin,a low-cost marine biowaste product,as a precursor for the in-situ preparation of chitin-derived nitrogendoped hierarchical porous carbon fibers(CNHPCFs)containing abundant *** materials are characterized by varying morphologies and high specific surface areas and present a hierarchical porous *** adsorb polysulfides,exhibit good ionic conductivity,and can be potentially used to generate green *** properties help address the problems of volume expansion and slow *** CNHPCF-1@S cathode exhibits excellent cycling performance and high capacity(1368.80 mAh·g^(−1)at 0.2 C;decay rate:0.011%per turn at 5 C).The high electrochemical reversibility recorded for CNHPCF-1@S and the stepwise reaction mechanism followed were studied using the in-situ X-ray diffraction and in-situ Raman spectroscopy *** results reported herein can potentially help develop new ideas for the recycling and treatment of marine *** results can also provide a platform to improve the application prospects of lithium-sulfur batteries.

SETTING: Special Care Ward (SCW) of the Dhaka Hospital of icddr,b, Bangladesh. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical and laboratory predictors of death in under-five children with clinically defined sepsis presenting with diarrhea. METHODS: We prospectively enrolled all the diarrheal children (n = 151) aged 0 to 59 months with clinical sepsis admitted in the SCW during September’2007 through December’2007. Comparison was made between deaths (n = 23) and survivors (n = 128). Sepsis is defined as presence of inflammation [abnormal WBC count (>11 × 109/L or, 9/L or, band and neutrophil ratio ≤0.10] plus presence or presumed presence of infection with thermo-instability [hypo (≤35.0℃) or hyperthermia (≥38.5℃)], tachycardia, tachypnea, and/or the indications of altered organ function (altered mental status and bounding pulse) in the absence of clinical dehydration or after correction of dehydration. RESULTS: The median (inter-quartile range) age (months) of the children who survived and died was comparable [4.0 (2.0, 12.0) vs. 1.5 (0.8, 10.0);p = 0.703]. In the logistic regression analysis, after adjusting for potential confounders, such as abnormal WBC count, use of intravenous fluid, patient with fatal outcome more often presented with hypernatremia (odds ratio = 16.48, 95% confidence interval = 2.21 -?123.12;p = 0.006), lobar consolidation (odds ratio = 19.9, 95% confidence interval = 2.99 - 132.80;p = 0.002), hypoxemia (odds ratio = 14.78, 95% confidence interval = 1.38 157.90;p = 0.026) and severe under-nutrition (odds ratio = 7.57, 95% confidence interval = 1.24 - 46.11;p = 0.028). CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that children under-five with clinical sepsis who present with lobar pneumonia, hypoxaemia, severe acute malnutrition and hyperntaemia are at higher risk of death and identification of these simple factors may help clinicians to take prompt initiative for the aggressive management of such children especially in a resource-limited setting like Bangladesh.

Although phase separation is a ubiquitous phenomenon, the interactions between multiple components make it difficult to accurately model and predict. In recent years, machine learning has been widely used in physics simulations. Here,we present a physical information-enhanced graph neural network(PIENet) to simulate and predict the evolution of phase separation. The accuracy of our model in predicting particle positions is improved by 40.3% and 51.77% compared with CNN and SVM respectively. Moreover, we design an order parameter based on local density to measure the evolution of phase separation and analyze the systematic changes with different repulsion coefficients and different Schmidt *** results demonstrate that our model can achieve long-term accurate predictions of order parameters without requiring complex handcrafted features. These results prove that graph neural networks can become new tools and methods for predicting the structure and properties of complex physical systems.

Correlation between TIMP-1 expression and liver fibrosis in two rat liver fibrosis models

AIM： To evaluate serum TIMP-1 level and the correlation between TIMP-1 expression and liver fibrosis in immuneinduced and CCL4-induced liver fibrosis models in rats. METHODS： Immune-induced and CCL4-induced liver fibrosis models were established by dexamethasone （0.01 mg） and CCL4 respectively. Serum TIMP-1 level was detected with ELISA, while histopathological grade of liver biopsy was evaluated. Spearman rankcorrelation test was used to analyse the difference of the correlation between the TIMP-1 expression and hepatic fibrosis in the two fibrosis models. Furthermore,in situ hybridization was used to determine the expression difference of TIMP-1 mRNA in the two models. RESULTS： Positive correlation existed between serum TIMP-1 level of immune induced group and the histopathological stages of fibrosis liver of corresponding rats （Spearman rank-correlation test, rs = 0.812, P 0.05）, and the positive in situ hybridization signal of TIMP-1 mRNA was strong. In CCL4-induced liver fibrosis model, the correlation between the serum TIMP-1 level and the severity of hepatic fibrosis was not statistically significant（Spearman rank-correlation test, rs = 0.229, P 〉 0.05）. And compared with immune-induced model, the positivein situ hybridization signal of TIMP-1 mRNA was weaker, while the expression variation was higher in hepatic fibrosis of the same severity. CONCLUSION： The correlations between TIMP-1 expression and liver fibrosis in two rat liver fibrosis models are different. In immune-induced model, serum TIMP-1 level could reflect the severity of liver fibrosis, while in CCL4-induced model, the correlation between the serum TIMP-1 level and the severity of hepatic fibrosis was not statistically significant.

Background Although cardiac resynchronization therapy （CRT） is already an established treatment, the characteristics of patients who have an excellent response to CRT and those who get no benefit remain to be determined. The purpose of this study was to search for potential predictors of both non-response and super-response to *** Seventy-six consecutive patients who received CRT treatment were divided into group A （non-responders）,group C （super-responders） and group B （responders exclusive of super-responders）. Student＇s t test, Mann-Whitney test, Logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curve were employed to identify potential predictors among the patients＇ demographic characteristics, clinical features, several electrocardiographic parameters before and after CRT implantation, and their pre-implant echocardiographic *** Group A had the lowest 3-month left ventricular ejection fraction （LVEF）. Group C had the smallest pre-implant left ventricular end-diastolic dimension （LVEDD）, the shortest post-implant QRS duration, the smallest 3-month LVEDD and the highest 3-month LVEF. In addition, there was a trend of gradual change in percent of left bundle branch block,severity of pre-implant mitral regurgitation, pre-implant QRS dispersion, post-implant QRS duration as well as post-implant QRS dispersion from group A to group B and from group B to group C. Multivariable Logistic analysis revealed that only pre-implant LVEDD could predict CRT super-response. A pre-implant LVEDD of 68.5 mm was the cut-off value that identified super-responders with 87.5% sensitivity and 79.7% specificity. A pre-implant LVEDD of 62.5mm identified super-responders with 50.0% sensitivity and 89.8% *** Predictors of a CRT non-response remain unclear at present. But it is credible that patients with a smaller left ventricle would have a better chance to become super-responders to CRT.

Sand production along with the oil/gas detrimentally affects the oil production rate,downhole&subsurface *** equipment and various chemicals like epoxy resin,furan resin,phenolic resin,*** used in the industry to reduce or eliminate this *** the present study,a blend of organic and inorganic silicates are used to consolidate loose sand in the presence and absence of crude oil using a core flooding *** effects of chemical concentration,pH,curing temperature and time,and the presence of residual oil on the consolidation treatment results such as compressive strength and permeability retention,were investigated and ***-IR and FE-SEM characterization techniques were employed to investigate the interaction between the chemical molecules and the sand *** current binding agent exhibited a viscosity of less than 6 cP at room temperature,which facilitates efficient pumping of binding agent into the desired formation through the well *** developed mixture demonstrated consolidation properties across all pH ***,during the experimental investigation,the curing time and temperature was carefully optimized at 12 h and 423.15K,respectively to achieve the highest compressive strength of 2021 psi while achieving the permeability retention of 64%.The current chemical system exhibited improved consolidation capacity and can be effectively utilized for sand consolidation treatment in high-temperature formations.

The continuously increasing production of municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash （MSWIBA） has promoted its utilization as construction material and raised environmental concern. The physico-chemical properties and leaching behavior of MSWIBA were studied, and ecotoxicological testing using a luminescent bacterium bioassay was performed to assess the ecological pollution risks associated with its leached constituents. The MSWIBA was leached by two types of leachants, H2SO4/HNO3 and HAc solution, at different liquid to solid ratios and contact times. The concentrations of heavy metals and anions in the leachates were analyzed. Multi- variate statistical analyses, including principle component analysis, Pearson＇s correlation analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis, were used to evaluate the contributions of the constituents to the toxicity （ECso） of the MSWIBA leachate. The statistical analyses of the ecotoxicological results showed that the Ba, Cr, Cu, Pb, F and total organic carbon （TOC） concentrations were closely correlated with the ECso value, and these substances were the main contributors to the ecotoxicity of the MSWIBA leachate. In addition, the cluster of these variables indicated similar leaching behaviors. Overall, the research demonstrated that the ecotoxicological risks resulting from MSWIBA leaching could be assessed before its utilization, which provides crucial information for the adaptation of MSWIBA as alternative materials.
