Background:adult patients with congenital heart disease(ACHD)might be at high risk of Coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19).This study aimed to report on a one-year tertiary center experience regards COVID-19 infection in ACHD ***:This is a one-year(March-2020 to March-2021)tertiary-center retrospective study that enrolled all ACHD patients;COVID-19 positive patients’medical records,and management were ***:We recorded 542 patients,205(37.8%)COVID-19-positive,and 337(62.2%)COVID-19-negative *** single ventricle and Eisenmenger syndrome patients were more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection(Pcardiology/American Heart Association classification revealed that complex lesions,and FC-C/D categories were more likely to develop severe/critical symptoms,that required mechanical ventilation and ECMO(P<0.05*).Mortality was reported in 3(0.6%)patients with no difference between groups(P=0.872).193(35.6%)patients were ***:COVID-19 infection in ACHD patients require individualized risk stratification and *** syndrome,single ventricle palliation,complex lesions,and FC-C/D patients were more vulnerable to severe/critical symptoms that required ICU admission,mechanical ventilation,and *** vaccine was mostly tolerable.

This editorial assesses the prognostic value of preoperative inflammatory and nutritional biomarkers in patients undergoing surgical resection for pancreatic *** et al evaluated the ability of seven biomarkers to predict postoperative recovery and long-term *** biomarkers were albumin-to-globulin ratio,prognostic nutritional index(PNI),systemic immune-inflammation index,neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio,platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio,nutritional risk index,and geriatric nutritional risk *** PNI was found to be a strong predictor of both overall and recurrence-free survival,underscoring its clinical relevance in managing patients with pancreatic cancer.

This editorial examines a recent study that used radiomics based on computed tomography(CT)to predict the expression of the fibroblast-related gene enhancer of zeste homolog 2(EZH2)and its correlation with the survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).By integrating radiomics with molecular analysis,the study presented a strategy for accurately predicting the expression of EZH2 from CT *** findings demonstrated a strong link between the radiomics model,EZH2 expression,and patient *** noninvasive approach provides valuable insights into the therapeutic management of HCC.

BACKGROUND Cardiogenic shock(CS)is a life-threatening complication of acute myocardial infarction with high morbidity and mortality *** percutaneous coro-nary intervention(PCI)has been shown to improve outcomes in patients with *** To investigate the immediate mortality rates in patients with CS undergoing primary PCI and identify mortality *** We conducted a retrospective analysis of 305 patients with CS who underwent primary PCI at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases,Karachi,Pak-istan,between January 2018 and December *** primary outcome was immediate mortality,defined as mortality within index ***-variate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify predictors of immediate *** In a sample of 305 patients with 72.8%male patients and a mean age of 58.1±11.8 years,the immediate mortality rate was found to be 54.8%(167).Multivariable analysis identified Killip class IV at presentation[odds ratio(OR):2.0;95%co-nfidence interval(CI):1.2-3.4;P=0.008],Multivessel disease(OR:3.5;95%CI:1.8-6.9;P<0.001),and high thrombus burden(OR:2.6;95%CI:1.4-4.9;P=0.003)as independent predictors of immediate *** Immediate mortality rate in patients with CS undergoing primary PCI remains high despite advances in treatment *** class IV at presentation,multivessel disease,and high thrombus burden(grade≥4)were identified as independent predictors of immediate *** findings underscore the need for aggressive management and close monitoring of patients with CS undergoing primary PCI,particularly in those with these high-risk characteristics.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) includes a variety of histological conditions (ranging from liver steatosis and steatohepatitis, to fibrosis and hepatocarcinoma) that are characterized by an increased fat content within the liver. The accumulation/deposition of fat within the liver is essential for diagnosis of NAFLD and might be associated with alterations in the hepatic and systemic inflammatory state. Although it is still unclear if each histological entity represents a different disease or rather steps of the same disease, inflammatory processes in NAFLD might influence its pathophysiology and prognosis. In particular, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (the most inflamed condition in NAFLDs, which more frequently evolves towards chronic and serious liver diseases) is characterized by a marked activation of inflammatory cells and the upregulation of several soluble inflammatory mediators. Among several mediators, cytokines and chemokines might play a pivotal active role in NAFLD and are considered as potential therapeutic targets. In this review, we will update evidence from both basic research and clinical studies on the potential role of cytokines and chemokines in the pathophysiology of NAFLD.
