Wet Cupping Therapy Improves Local Blood Perfusion and Analgesic Effects in Patients with Nerve-Root Type Cervical Spondylosis

Objective： To observe wet cupping therapy（WCT） on local blood perfusion and analgesic effects in patients with nerve-root type cervical spondylosis（NT-CS）. Methods： Fifty-seven NT-CS patients were randomly divided into WCT group and Jiaji acupoint-acupuncture（JA） group according a random number table. WCT group（30 cases） was treated with WCT for 10 min, and JA group（27 cases） was treated with acupuncture for 10 min. The treatment efficacies were evaluated with a Visual Analogue Scale（VAS）. Blood perfusion at Dazhui（GV 14） and Jianjing（GB 21） acupoints（affected side） was observed with a laser speckle flowmetry, and its variations before and after treatment in both groups were compared as well. Results： In both groups, the VAS scores significantly decreased after the intervention（P〈0.01）, while the blood perfusion at the two acupoints significantly increased after intervention（P〈0.05）; however, the increasement magnitude caused by WCT was obvious compared with JA（P〈0.05）. Conclusion： WCT could improve analgesic effects in patients with NT-CS, which might be related to increasing local blood perfusion of acupunct points.

The emergence of drug resistance to virus(i.e.,acyclovir(ACV)to herpesviruses)has been termed one of the common clinical issues,emphasizing the discovery of new antiviral *** address it,a genome-wide clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)screening was performed in mouse haploid embryonic stem cells infected with pseudorabies virus(PRV),anα-herpesvirus causing human and pig *** results demonstrated that type 2 voltage-gated chloride channels(CLC-2)encoded by one of the identified genes,CLCN2,is a potential drug target for anti-herpesvirus ***-2 inhibitors,omeprazole(OME)and 4,4'-diisothiocyanostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid(DIDS),can efficiently inhibit infection of multiple herpesviruses in cellulo(i.e.,PRV,HSV and EBV),and effectively treat murine herpes simplex encephalitis(HSE).Additionally,DIDS was found to inhibit HSV-1 replication by blocking the PI3K/Akt *** importantly,both DIDS and OME were able to inhibit ACV-resistant HSV-1 strain *** study's findings suggest that targeting host-cell factors such as CLC-2 may be a promising approach to tackling herpesvirus drug *** discovery of CLC-2 as a potential drug target for anti-herpesvirus therapy provides a new direction for the development of novel antiviral agents.

Clinical observation of efficacy in adhesive intestinal obstruction with Integrated chinese(Chaihu Shugan San,柴胡疏肝散) and Western medicine:a randomized controlled trial

OBJECTIVE: To explore the treatment efficacy of integrated chinese medicine(Chaihu Shugan San, 柴胡疏肝散, CSS) and western therapy in the treatment of adhesive intestinal obstruction(AIO), to provide new ideas for the management of the disease. METHODS: In our single-blind randomized controlled study, 120 patients with AIO who were hospitalized in The Affiliated Hospital of China West Normal university Nan Chong Gaoping District People's Hospital from January 2021 to June 2022 and met the inclusion criteria were categorized into the treatment group and the control group. Patients from the control group were administered basic Western medicine therapy, whereas patients from the treatment group were administered basic Western medicine therapy plus CSS by gastric tube injection. Subsequently, the time to first anal exhaustion and defecation, time to relief of abdominal distension and pain, days of hospitalization, Traditional chinese medicine(TCM) symptom scores, interleukin-6(IL-6), C-reactive protein(CRP) and procalcitonin(PCT) levels in the 2 groups were recorded and compared. RESULTS: The comparison of clinical efficacy of the treatment group were better than the control group. The TCM symptom score was considerably lower in the treatment group; the inflammation indicators CRP, IL-6, and PCT also decreased statistically when comparing the control group. Furthermore, there were significantly reduced in the time to first exhaustion, time to first defecation, time to relief of abdominal pain and distension, and days of hospitalization in the treatment group versus the control group. CONCLUSION: CSS could suppress the inflammatory reaction, reduce days of hospitalization, relieve clinical symptoms in AIO patients with reliable efficacy and high safety and is worthy of clinical application.

Pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy in patients with refractory insomnia: a randomized and controlled clinical trial

OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy on refractory ***: Totally 60 subjects were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 30 in each group. The treatment group was treated with pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy, the control group with penetrating moxibustion therapy, the treatment was given once every day, two groups of patients were treated 20 times,compared the efficacy, pinsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) and Traditional chinese medicine symptom, safety evaluation between the two ***: Compared with 10, 20 times after the treatment, the effective rate of the treatment group(93.3%) higher than that of the control group(80.0%)(P < 0.05); Compared with beforetreatment, 20 times after treatment, the PSQI and TCM symptom pattern scores of the two groups were significantly decreased(P < 0.01); Compared with 10, 20 times after the treatment, the treatment group are better than the control group in improving the total score and the integral of PSQI(P <0.05 or P < 0.01); The treatment group are better than the control group in improving the TCM symptom pattern score, difficulty in going to sleep, palpitation, amnesia, fidget, sweating, impaired concentration(P < 0.01 or P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: The pricking and penetrating moxibustion therapy is safe and effective in the treatment of refractory insomnia and the treatment can improve the curative effect of the therapy that uses penetrating moxibustion only.
