This study investigates the effects of Fe on the oxygen-evolution reaction(OER)in the presence of *** distinct areas of OER were identified:the first associated with Fe sites at low overpotential(~330 mV),and the second with Au sites at high overpotential(~870 mV).Various factors such as surface Fe concentration,electrochemical method,scan rate,potential range,concentration,method of adding K_(2)Fe O_(4),nature of Fe,and temperature were varied to observe diverse behaviors during OER for Fe O_(x)H_(y)/*** amounts of Fe ions had a significant impact on OER,reaching a saturation point where the activity did not increase *** electronic interaction between Fe and Au ions was indicated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)*** situ visible spectroscopy confirmed the formation of Fe O_(4)^(2-)during *** situ Mossbauer and surfaceenhanced Raman spectroscopy(SERS)analyses suggest the involvement of Fe-based species as intermediates during the rate-determining step of OER.A lattice OER mechanism based on Fe O_(x)H_(y)was proposed for operation at low *** functional theory(DFT)calculations revealed that Fe oxide,Fe-oxide clusters,and Fe doping on the Au foil exhibited different activities and stabilities during *** study provides insights into the interplay between Fe and Au in OER,advancing the understanding of OER mechanisms and offering implications for the design of efficient electrocatalytic systems.

Fingerprinting sulfur speciation in aprotic electrolytes is a key to understand fundamental chemistry and design well-performing lithium–sulfur(Li–S)*** polysulfide(LiPS)dissolution and deposition in ether-based electrolytes during redox reactions have been probed and established by spectroscopy and ***,detailed LiPS structure and solvation properties influenced by conventional and newly developed electrolytes remain elusive,which exert fundamental challenges and practical difficulties in decoupling battery performance from electrolyte *** perspective aims to provide timely information to uncover underlying mechanisms that rein in sulfur speciation by considering the charge density of LiPSs and the coordination strength of solvents/*** discussion starts with unlocking the baseline electrolyte formulation to investigate its role in LiPS formation and *** that,the term coordination strength is used instead of donor number and dielectric constant to describe interactions between solvents and LiPSs and to reveal LiPS structure *** work is expected to encourage the discovery of new electrolyte working mechanisms to develop energy-dense and power-intensive Li–S batteries.

A 5'-leader,known initially as the 5'-untranslated region,contains multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing(aS)and alternative transcription start site(aTSS).Therefore,a representative 5'-leader is demanded to examine the embedded RNA regulatory elements in controlling translation ***,we develop a ranking algorithm and a deep-learning model to annotate representative 5'-leaders for five plant *** rank the intra-sample and inter-sample frequency of aS-mediated transcript isoforms using the Kruskal-Wallis test-based algorithm and identify the representative aS-5'-*** further assign a representative 5'-end,we train the deep-learning model 5'leaderP to learn aTsS-mediated 5'-end distribution patterns from cap-analysis gene expression *** model accurately predicts the 5'-end,confirmed experimentally in Arabidopsis and *** representative 5'-leader-contained gene models and 5'leaderP can be accessed at RNAirport(http:/***/leader5P/).The Stage 1 annotation of 5'-leader records 5'-leader diversity and will pave the way to Ribo-Seq open-reading frame annotation,identical to the project recently initiated by human GENCODE.

Messenger RNA(mRNA)translation consists of initiation,elongation,termination,and ribosome recycling,carried out by the translation machinery,primarily including tRNAs,ribosomes,and translation factors(TrFs).Translational regulators transduce signals of growth and development,as well as biotic and abiotic stresses,to the translation machinery,where global or selective translational control occurs to modulate mRNA translation efficiency(TrE).As the basis of translational control,the translation machinery directly determines the quality and quantity of newly synthesized peptides and,ultimately,the cellular ***,regulating the availability of diverse machinery components is reviewed as the central strategy of translational *** provide classical signaling pathways(e.g.,integrated stress responses)and cellular behaviors(e.g.,liquideliquid phase separation)to exemplify this strategy within different physiological contexts,particularly during hostemicrobe *** new technologies developed,further understanding this strategy will speed up translational medicine and translational agriculture.

Heterostructures composed of two-dimensional van der Waals(vdW)materials allow highly controllable stacking,where interlayer twist angles introduce a continuous degree of freedom to alter the electronic band structures and excitonic *** by the discovery of Mott insulating states and superconductivity in magic-angle bilayer graphene,the emerging research fields of“twistronics”and moiréphysics have aroused great academic interests in the engineering of optoelectronic properties and the exploration of new quantum phenomena,in which moirésuperlattice provides a pathway for the realization of artificial excitonic *** we systematically summarize the current achievements in twistronics and moiréexcitonic physics,with emphasis on the roles of lattice rotational mismatches and atomic ***,we review the effects of the interlayer twist on electronic and photonic physics,particularly on exciton properties such as dipole moment and spin-valley polarization,through interlayer interactions and electronic band *** also discuss the exciton dynamics in vdW heterostructures with different twist angles,like formation,transport and relaxation processes,whose mechanisms are complicated and still need further ***,we review the theoretical analysis and experimental observations of moirésuperlattice and moirémodulated *** exotic moiréeffects are also shown,including periodic potential,moiréminiband,and varying wave function symmetry,which result in exciton localization,emergent exciton peaks and spatially alternating optical selection *** further introduce the expanded properties of moirésystems with external modulation factors such as electric field,doping and strain,showing that moirélattice is a promising platform with high tunability for optoelectronic applications and in-depth study on frontier ***,we focus on the rapidly developing field of correlated electron physics based on the moiré

Quasi-in-situ Observation and SKPFM studies on Phosphate Protective Film and Surface Micro-Galvanic Corrosion in Biological Mg-3Zn-xNd Alloys

The phosphate protective film and micro-galvanic corrosion of biological Mg-3Zn-xNd (x = 0, 0.6, 1.2) alloys were investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopy, quasi-in-situ observation, scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy (SKPFM) and electrochemical tests. The results revealed the Mg-Zn-Nd phases formed in Mg-3Zn alloy contained with Nd. Adding Nd resulted in a significant decline in the cracks of the phosphate protective film and micro-galvanic corrosion of alloys, which were recorded by quasi-in-situ observation. In addition, the Volta potential difference of Mg-Zn-Nd/α-Mg (~ 188 mV) was lower than MgZn/α-Mg (~ 419 mV) and Zn-rich/α-Mg (~ 260 mV), and the corrosion rates of alloys markedly decreased after the addition of 0.6 wt% Nd. The improvement in corrosion resistance of Nd-containing alloys was mainly attributed to the following: (i) the addition of Nd reduced the Volta potential difference (second phases/α-Mg);(ii) the phosphate protective film containing Nd_(2)O_(3) deposited on the surface of the alloys, effectively preventing the penetration of harmful anions.

We developed a highly selective and efficient multicomponent transformation by utilizing alkynes and olefins/(hetero)arenes through photoinduced energy-transfer *** reaction involves the formation of three distinct chemical bonds,namely C(sp~3)–C(sp~2),C(sp~2)–C(sp~3),and C(sp~3)–N,in a single coordinated *** strategy used a vinyl radical-mediated radical relay approach under mild conditions,exhibiting a broad substrate scope(>70 examples),excellent functional-group tolerance,and remarkable regio-and *** the utilization of a combination of experimental techniques and density functional theory(DFT),we delved deeper into the mechanistic intricacies of this distinctive *** revealed that the selective radical addition to electron-deficient alkynes,rather than olefins,was governed by the inherent reactivity of alkyl *** discovery presented a highly effective approach for the synthesis of stereodefined multisubstituted alkenes.

Modeling of Rectangular Microchannel Heat Sink with Non-Uniform Channels and Multi-Objective Optimization

Rectangular microchannel heat sinks(MCHS)are widely used to cool high-heat-flux electronic ***,previous studies focused mainly on MCHS with uniform channels(UCs).This study considers a microchannel heat sink with non-uniform channels(NUCs).A mathematical model is developed based on energy equations and the Darcy flow *** expressions for total thermal resistance and coolant pressure drop are derived using the thermoelectric *** and numerical simulations are performed to verify the mathematical *** non-uniformity increases,total coolant pressure drop decreases but at the cost of higher thermal *** overall performance of NUCs is better than that of UCs because of their lower ratio of pumping power to cooling *** transfer performance of NUCs changes little for more than 120 channels and depends mainly on channel arrangement.A multi-objective optimization is conducted to minimize the thermal resistance and pumping power of an *** optimal NUC saves 64%pumping power compared with a conventional UC for the total thermal resistance of 0.1℃/W,indicating that the use of non-uniform channels could be very helpful to reduce the flow resistance of MCHS.

Pollination networks are increasingly used to model the complexity of interactions between pollinators and flowering plants in *** methods exist to sample these interactions,with direct observations of plant-pollinator contacts in the field being by far the most *** the identification of pollen carried by pollinators allows uncovering interactions and increasing sample sizes,the methods used to build pollen-transport networks are variable and their effect on network structure remains *** understand how interaction sampling influences the structure of networks,we analyzed the pollen found on wild bees from eight communities across Mallorca Island and investigated the differences in pollen loads between bee body parts(scopa ***)and *** then assessed how these differences,as well as the uncovered interactions not detected in the field,influenced the structure of wild bee-plant *** identified a higher quantity and diversity of pollen in the scopa than in the rest of the female body,but these differences did not lead to differences in structure between plant-pollination(excluding scopa pollen)and bee-feeding interaction(including scopa pollen)***,networks built with pollen data were richer in plant species and interactions and showed lower modularity and specialization(H2'),and higher nestedness than visitation networks based on field *** interactions with plants were stronger compared to those of males,although not ***,females were more generalist(low d')and tended to be more central in interaction networks,indicating their more key role structuring pollination networks in comparison to *** study highlights the importance of palynological data to increase the resolution of networks,as well as to understand important ecological questions such as the differences between plant-pollination and bee-feeding interaction networks,and the role of sexes in pollination.
