＜正＞the design and implementation of the At＆t Communicator mixed-initiative spoken dialog system is described. the Communicator project, sponsored by DARPA and launched in 1999, is a multi-year multi-site project on advanced spoken dialog systems research. the main focus of this paper is on issues related to the design of mixed-initiative systems. In addition to describing our architecture and implementation of the complex travel task, the paper reports on some preliminary evaluation results.

the effectiveness of monitoring and early-warning systems for ground deformation phenomena,such as sinkholes,depends on their ability to accurately resolve the ongoing ground displacement and detect the subtle deformation preceding catastrophic *** sinkholes with a slow subsidence rate and diffuse edges pose a significant challenge for subsidence monitoring due to the low deformation rates and limited lateral strain *** this work,we satisfactorily illustrate the practicality of the Brillouin optical time domain analysis(BOtDA)to measure the spatial-temporal patterns of the vertical displacement in such challenging slow-moving sagging *** assess the performance of the approach,we compare the strain recorded by the distributed optical fiber sensor with the vertical displacement measured by high-precision *** results show a good spatial correlation with the ability to identify the maximum subsidence *** is also a good temporal correlation with the detection of an acceleration phase in the subsidence associated with a flood event.

CFSFDP(Clustering by fast search and find of density peak)is a simple and crisp density clustering *** does not only have the advantages of density clustering algorithm,but also can find the peak of cluster ***,the lack of adaptability makes it difficult to apply in intrusion *** new input cannot be updated in time to the existing profiles,and rebuilding profiles would waste a lot of time and ***,an adaptive anomaly detection algorithm based on CFSFDP is proposed in this *** analyzing the influence of new input on center,edge and discrete points,the adaptive problem mainly focuses on processing with the generation of new cluster by new *** improved algorithm can integrate new input into the existing clustering without changing the original ***,the improved algorithm takes the advantage of multi-core parallel computing to deal with redundant computing.A large number of experiments on intrusion detection on Android platform and KDDCUP 1999 show that the improved algorithm can update the profiles adaptively without affecting the original detection *** with the other classical algorithms,the improved algorithm based on CFSFDP has the good basic performance and more room of improvement.

Millimeter Wave and terahertz Communications: Feasibility and Challenges

In this paper, the challenges with and motivations for developing millimeter wave and terahertz communications are described. A high-bye candidate architecture is presented, and use cases highlighting the potential applicability of high-frequency links are discussed. Mobility challenges at these higher frequencies are also discussed. Difficulties that arise as a result of high carrier frequencies and higher path loss can be overcome by practical, higher-gain antennas that have the added benefit of reducing intercell interference. Simulation methodology and results are given. the results show that millimeter wave coverage is possible in large, outdoor spaces, and only a reasonable number of base stations are needed. Network throughput can exceed 25 Gbit/s, and cell-edge user throuqhput can reach aDoroximatelv 100 Mbit/s.

A single phase brushless spindle motor with innovative design has been developed for application in a DVD drive. the methods used to reduce the cogging torque and to improve the dynamic performance of this new design motor are proposed in this paper. the single phase brushless spindle motor is usually applied for cooling fan, pump and blower before the performance is improved by the reengineering process. the stator configuration and the drive circuit have been remodeled in order to meet the requirements of the spindle motor used in the DVD applications.

A seamless and lossless transition of the constitutive description of the elastic response of materials between atomic and continuum scales has been so far *** we show how this problem can be overcome by using artificial intelligence(AI).A convolutional neural network(CNN)model is trained,by taking the structure image of a nanoporous material as input and the corresponding elasticity tensor,calculated from molecular statics(MS),as *** with the atomistic data,the CNN model captures the size-and pore-dependency of the material’s elastic properties which,on the physics side,derive from its intrinsic stiffness as well as from surface relaxation and non-local *** demonstrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the trained CNN model,a finite element method(FEM)-based result of an elastically deformed nanoporous beam equipped with the CNN as constitutive law is compared with that obtained by a full atomistic *** trained CNN model predicts the elasticity tensor in the test dataset with a root-mean-square error of 2.4 GPa(3.0%of the bulk modulus)when compared to atomistic *** the other hand,the CNN model is about 230 times faster than the MS calculation and does not require changing simulation methods between different *** efficiency of the CNN evaluation together with the preservation of important atomistic effects makes the trained model an effective atomistically informed constitutive model for macroscopic simulations of nanoporous materials,optimization of nanostructures,and the solution of inverse problems.

Wo t(Web of things) integrates smart devices into Web by reusing and extending Web standards. While Web technology makes the developers' job easier,it faces security,management and efficiency challenges. We propose Wo t/SDN,the architecture of resource oriented Wo t built on SDN(Software Defined Network),in which applications could be developed through resource subscription and Mashup with the programmability provided by SDN. the key components are designed,including Security and Management Controller(SMC),various atomic services and resource subscription syntax. three applications covering device management,data access and security protection are demonstrated. Compared to traditional resource-oriented Wo t systems,our test results show that SDN,with its logically centralized control capability and awareness of flow forwarding,provides new opportunity to improve performance,simplify management and enhance security for Wo t.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark feature of cellular senescence and organ ***,we asked whether the mitochondrial antiviral signaling protein(MAVS),which is essential for driving antiviral response,also regulates human stem cell *** answer this question,we used CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing and directed differentiation techniques to generate various MAVS-knockout human stem cell *** found that human mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs)were sensitive to MAVS deficiency,as manifested by accelerated senescence *** uncovered that the role of MAVS in maintaining mitochondrial structural integrity and functional homeostasis depends on its interaction with the guanosine triphosphatase optic atrophy type 1(OPA1).Depletion of MAVS or OPA1 led to the dysfunction of mitochondria and cellular senescence,whereas replenishment of MAVS or OPA1 in MAVS-knockout hMSCs alleviated mitochondrial defects and premature senescence *** together,our data underscore an uncanonical role of MAVS in safeguarding mitochondrial homeostasis and antagonizing human stem cell senescence.
