We introduce an all-fiber stationary phase shifter for a fiber-optic gyroscope which simultaneously provides phase shifts of opposite signs in different cores of the dual-core optical fiber. We propose a new dual-core fiber-optic gyroscope in which different cores of the dual-core optical fiber provide independent rotation rate measurements. the device enables implementation of a differential scheme， which ensures the stability of the measured phase shift. As a computer simulations result， the accuracy of the rotation rate sensing increased by up to 10 times at typical noise levels.

Benefitting from narrow beam divergence,photonic crystal surface-emitting lasers are expected to play an essential role in the ever-growing fields of optical communication and light detection and *** operating with 1.55μm wavelengths have attracted particular attention due to their minimum fiber loss and high eye-safe ***,high interband absorption significantly decreases their performance at this 1.55μm ***,stronger optical feedback is needed to reduce their threshold and thus improve the output *** this goal,photonic-crystal resonators with deep holes and high dielectric contrast are often ***,the relevant techniques for high-contrast photonic crystals inevitably complicate fabrication and reduce the final *** this paper,we demonstrate the first continuous-wave operation of 1.55μm photonic-crystal surface-emitting lasers by using a‘triple-lattice photonic-crystal resonator’,which superimposes three lattice point groups to increase the strength of in-plane optical *** this geometry,the in-plane 180°coupling can be enhanced threefold compared to the normal single-lattice *** theoretical and experimental investigations demonstrate the much lower threshold current density of this structure compared to‘single-lattice’and‘double-lattice’photonic-crystal resonators,verifying our design *** findings provide a new strategy for photonic crystal laser miniaturization,which is crucial for realizing their use in future high-speed applications.

As an accurate 2D/3D fabrication tool,inkjet printing technology has great potential in preparation of micro electronic *** morphology of droplets produced by the inkjet printer has a great impact on the accuracy of *** this study,the drop-on-demand(DoD)inkjet simulation model was established,and the accuracy of the simulation model was verified by corresponding *** simulation result shows that the velocity of the droplet front and tail,as well as the time to disconnect from the nozzle is mainly affected by density(ρ),viscosity(μ)and surface tension(σ)of *** the liquid filament is about to disconnect from the nozzle,the filament length and filament front velocity are found to have a linear correlation withσ/ρμand ln(ρ/(μσ1/2)).

the effectiveness of monitoring and early-warning systems for ground deformation phenomena,such as sinkholes,depends on their ability to accurately resolve the ongoing ground displacement and detect the subtle deformation preceding catastrophic *** sinkholes with a slow subsidence rate and diffuse edges pose a significant challenge for subsidence monitoring due to the low deformation rates and limited lateral strain *** this work,we satisfactorily illustrate the practicality of the Brillouin optical time domain analysis(BOtDA)to measure the spatial-temporal patterns of the vertical displacement in such challenging slow-moving sagging *** assess the performance of the approach,we compare the strain recorded by the distributed optical fiber sensor with the vertical displacement measured by high-precision *** results show a good spatial correlation with the ability to identify the maximum subsidence *** is also a good temporal correlation with the detection of an acceleration phase in the subsidence associated with a flood event.

As a popular kind of stylized face,cartoon faces have rich application *** is challenging to create personalized 3D cartoon faces directly from 2D real ***,in order to adapt to more application scenarios,automatic style editing,and animation of cartoon faces is also a crucial problem that is urgently needed to be solved in the industry,but has not yet had a perfect *** solve this problem,we first propose“3D face cartoonizer”,which can generate high-quality 3D cartoon faces with texture when fed into 2D facial *** contribute the first 3D cartoon face hybrid dataset and a new training strategy which first pretrains our network with low-quality triplets in a reconstruction-then-generation manner,and then finetunes it with high-quality triplets in an adversarial manner to fully leverage the hybrid ***,we implement style editing for 3D cartoon faces based on k-means,which can be easily achieved without retrain the neural *** addition,we propose a new cartoon faces'blendshape generation method,and based on this,realize the expression animation of 3D cartoon faces,enabling more practical *** dataset and code will be released for future research.

this paper presents a review on the recent progress of digital signal processing （DSP） in the high-speed optical transmission system using single-carrier based multi-level modulation formats. the principle of several digital phase and polarization tracking algorithms recently proposed and demonstrated for future spectrally-efficient optical transmission system are discussed in detail. A novel DSP-based interference mitigation algorithm for the single-ended coherent receiver has been included. Recent technology advance on transmitter-side DSP such as digital pulse-shaping, pre-equalization and digital nonlinear compensation has also been discussed.

MINFLUX has achieved extraordinary resolution in superresolution imaging and single fluorophore *** is based on localizing single fluorophores by rapid probing with a patterned beam that features a local intensity *** implementations,however,are complex and expensive and are limited in speed and ***,we show that a combination of an electro-optical modulator with a segmented birefringent element such as a spatial light modulator produces a variable phase plate for which the phase can be scanned on the MHz *** or top-hat phase patterns generate high-contrast compact excitation point-spread functions for MINFLUX localization in the x,y,and z-direction,respectively,which can be scanned across a fluorophore within a microsecond,switched within 60 microseconds and alternated among different excitation *** discuss how to compensate for non-optimal performance of the components and present a robust 3D and multi-color MINFLUX excitation module,which we envision as an integral component of a high-performance and cost-effective open-source MINFLUX.

Morphometric studies of 3D micro Ct-scanned images can provide insights into the evolution of the brain and sensory structures but such data are still scarce for the most diverse mammalian order of *** reviewed and new data,we tested for convergence to extreme aridity and high elevation in the sensory and brain morphology of rodents,from morphometric data from micro-Ct X-ray scans of 174 crania of 16 species of three distantly re-lated African murid(soft-furred mice,Praomyini,laminate-toothed rats,Otomyini,and gerbils,Gerbillinae)clades and one North American cricetid(deer mice and white-footed mice,Peromyscus)*** studies demon-strated convergent evolution acting on the oval window area of the cochlea(enlarged in extremely arid-adapted species of Otomyini and Gerbillinae)and on endocranial volume(reduced in high elevation taxa of Otomyini and Peromyscus).However,contrary to our predictions,we did notfind evidence of convergence in brain struc-ture to aridity,or in the olfactory/respiratory system(turbinate bones)to high *** structure differed,particularly in the petrosal lobules of the cerebellum and the olfactory bulbs,between Otomyini and Gerbillinae,with extreme arid-adapted species in each clade being highly divergent(not convergent)from other species in the same *** observed greater“packing”of the maxillary turbinate bones,which have important respiratory functions,in Peromyscus mice from high and low elevations compared to the high-elevation African Praomyini,but more complex patterns within Peromyscus,probably related to trade-offs in respiratory physiology and heat exchange in the nasal epithelium associated with high-elevation adaptation.

Generating photo-realistic images from a text description is a challenging problem in computer *** works have shown promising performance to generate synthetic images conditional on text by Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs).In this paper,we focus on the category-consistent and relativistic diverse constraints to optimize the diversity of synthetic *** on those constraints,a category-consistent and relativistic diverse conditional GAN(CRD-CGAN)is proposed to synthesize K photo-realistic images *** use the attention loss and diversity loss to improve the sensitivity of the GAN to word attention and ***,we employ the relativistic conditional loss to estimate the probability of relatively real or fake for synthetic images,which can improve the performance of basic conditional ***,we introduce a category-consistent loss to alleviate the over-category issues between K synthetic *** evaluate our approach using the Caltech-UCSD Birds-200-2011,Oxford 102 flower and MS COCO 2014 datasets,and the extensive experiments demonstrate superiority of the proposed method in comparison with state-of-the-art methods in terms of photorealistic and diversity of the generated synthetic images.

this paper reviewed the recent progress in transmission of 400 Gb/s, wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) channels for optical networks based on the standard 50 GHz grid. We discussed the enabling modulation, coding, and line system technologies, as well as the existing challenges. It is shown that, 400 Gb/s per channel signal can be transmitted on the standard 50 GHz ItU-t grid at 8.4 b/ds/Hz net spectral efficiency (SE) over meaningful transmission reach for regional and metropolitan applications. However, further studies are needed to fully understand the potential for meeting the requirements of long-haul transmission applications.
