Effect of steel slag aggregate and bitumen emulsion types on the performance of microsurfacing mixture

Microsurfacing has recently been accepted widely as an effective method for preventive maintenance of *** is a mixture of cationic polymer-modified bitumen emulsion,100%manufactured well-graded fine aggregate,mineral filler,water,and chemical *** this research,in order to evaluate the performance of steel slag in microsurfacing mixture,two types of bitumen emulsions(cationic quick setting and cationic slow setting)were used together with three types of mixtures in which 100%siliceous aggregate was used as a control mixture and then steel slag was replaced by 61%and 100%aggregate of control *** performance of the samples was evaluated by experiments included wet cohesion test,wet track abrasion test,and loaded wheel test,according to international slurry surfacing association(ISSA)A143 guideline and ASTM D6372 *** results of tests showed that steel slag aggregate has proper compatibility with both of bitumen emulsion types judged by its desirable physical,chemical,and mechanical *** alkali characteristic of the steel slag leads to a stronger adhesion of these materials to acidic bitumen and cause prevented the stripping in the vicinity of water in comparison to the control ***,steel slag-containing mixtures displayed a more appropriate behavior in terms of rutting and stripping distresses.

Development of methodology for quantitative landslide risk assessment—Example Gota river valley

Effective landslide risk management requires knowledge of the landslide risks. This paper presents a risk assessment methodology for semiregional scale. The landslide probability is assessed taking into account expected climatechange in the case study area (the G?ta river valley). Climate change is expected to result in increased erosion and water fluctuations. There are large areas with marine clays, often quick clay, in the area and the landslide process can be rapid with extensive damages and casualties. The consequence methodology includes a wide range of consequences assessed by monetary valuation. The consequences and the landslide probability are combined as pairs of values in a risk matrix and the risk is also presented on a map. The map has been used as discussion and decision bases in the municipalities in the G?ta river valley, in the county administration and on governmental level to estimate the needs of risk mitigation and to make priorities.

Dynamically generated resonances from the vector octet-baryon decuplet interaction and their radiative decays into γ-baryon decuplet

The dynarnically generated resonances from vector meson-baryon decuplet are studied using La- grangians of the hidden gauge theory for vector interactions. One shows that some of the generated states can be associated with some known baryon resonances in the PDG data, while others are predictions for new states. Furthermore, we calculate the radiative decay widths of these resonances into a photon and a baryon decuplet.

Background:Major depressive disorder(MDD) is a common mental illness with high lifetime prevalence.A large number of researches had been performed to investigate brain regions involved in the pathophysiology of *** the results are different from these studies using different neuroimaging methods. Objective To evaluate current evidence from Positron Emission Tomography(PET) studies,we conducted a voxel-based meta-analysis of brain cerebral metabolism in MDD. Methods Data were collected from the following databases:PubMed,China Biological Medicine Database,China National Knowledge infrastructure, Cochrane Library and Web of Science,with the last report up to April ***-based meta-analyses were performed using the revised activation likelihood estimation(ALE) software(GingerALE 2.0).The resulting ALE map was threshold at p < 0.05(corrected for multiple comparisons by false discovery rate),and a minimum cluster size of supra threshold voxels exceeding 100 mm was imposed. Results Ten whole-brain-based FDG-PET studies in MDD were included in the meta-analysis included 188 MDD patients and 169 healthy *** analyses showed the brain metabolism in bilateral insula,left lentiform nucleus putamen and extra-nuclear,right caudate and cingulate gyrus were ***,the brain activity in right thalamus pulvinar and declive of posterior lobe,left culmen of vermis in anterior lobe were increased in MDD *** results show that volumes the brain regions of decreased are more than that of increased regions. Conclusion Our meta-analysis suggested MDD patients showed a dysfunctional circuit including insula,limbic system,basal ganglia,thalamus,and cerebellum that has been discussed in the pathphysiology of *** decreased insula activity might play the key roles in the neuropathology of *** patients suffer from MDD compensated by an increased metabolism in thalamus and cerebellum.

In this talk I report on recent work related to the dynamical generation of baryonic resonances, some made up from pseudoscalar meson-baryon, others from vector meson-baryon and a third type from two meson-one baryon systems. We can establish a correspondence with known baryonic resonances, reinforcing conclusions previously drawn and bringing new light on the nature of some baryonic resonances of higher mass.

The influence of intrinsic defects of 1T-TaS_(2)on charge density waves(CDWs)is studied using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy(STM,STS),angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy(ARPES),and density functional theory(DFT).We identify several types of structural defects and find that most have a local character limited to a single CDW site,with a single exception which effectively behaves as a dopant,leading to band-bending and affecting multiple neighboring *** only one type of defect can be observed by STM topographic imaging,all defects are easily resolved in STS *** results indicate modulation of the Mott band gap commensurate with the CDW and breaking of the three-fold symmetry of electronic *** calculations(with included Coulomb interactions)are used to investigate the electronic structure,focusing on both sulfur vacancy and oxygen-sulfur *** sulfur vacancy system,characterized with a metallic behavior,is identified as the origin of one of the experimentally observed ***,the effect of oxidation of 1T-TaS_(2)depends on the substitution site,leading to the heterogeneity of electronic properties.
